What If I Ran This...
I can state how long I've been following Broncos football but its irrelevant. I'm sure there is some study out there that states I'll continue to follow after this Cutler Trade continues to spiral out of control. I know I will.
I roll up my sleeves and think what would I do different? I don't think there is anyone we can get of equal value for Jay Cutler. Some suggest the 1st and 3rd this year and maybe a 1st the following year. Truth is, I don't want to see some draft hopeful go through the hit or miss process as they transition to the NFL from college.
I present to you the organization the Cinncinati Bengals. I know its different because it was about getting paid (Chad Johnson) but what is similar is the contract that has to be honored. Denver has the same control and unless there is a surefire deal, I'd keep Cutler. Jay is a competitor and all he wants to do is prove his worth. Sure he's upset but this has been going on since 28FEB08 and his legacy can be tied to the way he handles adversity or how adversity handles him.
McDaniels can make this work because he's going to have to. This is a classic example of what are men made of. I've heard the rhertoric of leadership, hall of fame comparisons and tastleless opinions. No ultimatum has been presented and if it were me and my sleeved up shirt were running this, I'd have Cutler in the fold. His actions from that point on would then define what kind of professional he'd choose to be and no athlete likes to be pitted against the fans.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to decide whether Malcom Jenkins at 12 is more feasible than Tyson Jackson. Here's hoping I can trade down and acquire Jackson/Jenkins and pick up a pick along the way. Hey, this isn't hard after all....

Jenkins at CB? Or safety? That makes a difference.
I’d rather look for someone to help stop the run at 12.
Signature to be named later.
Personally he’d learn all the positions in the secondary but I rather trade out of the 12 spot. I rather not accumulate more money against the cap and pick up another draft pick. Especially if we can manage Jenkins/Jackson.
My first choice is LSU’s Tyson Jackson DE because we need depth at the DL. I wouldn’t be objective to picking the best defensive prospect.
1st Tyson Jackson DE of LSU
2nd Ron Brace NT of Boston College
3rd Chip Vaugh S of Wake Forest

not a great source, but I thought they had commentary from NFLcom to back it up.
LSU DE Tyson Jackson benched 225 20 times at the Tigers’ Pro Day Monday.
It’s not an impressive number and Jackson’s offseason has left a lot to be desired. He ran in the 4.8-4.9 range at the Combine and has no vertical or broad jump on record. It shouldn’t be a surprise if he falls to round two. – Rotoworld

I’d say he may have crested a little, just because he seems to have risen to a high water mark lately. His combine and pro day may be catching up to him in terms of re-evaluations.
Here’s Scout’s take, and it’s a post-combine ranking. He’s their 6th DE, down between Kruger and Barwin, a late 1st to early 2nd region.
He’s a good 5 tech, but he’s not going to add much to the pass rush. He looks like he can start immediately but doesn’t have much ceiling (perhaps).
Thank you for the link. It defintely supports my feeling that he’s not worth a 12 pick. I can’t really think of any needs that can be and justify the amount of money going against our cap. I still think Jackson would be ideal because he’d be asked to don one thing and thats to play the run and allow the LBs to find those lanes to the QB.
I know Barwin was ranked higher but its seems that teems would play him as an OLB and we have two DEs making that transition in Jarvis Moss and Elvis Dumervil. Sure Barwin has the athleticism but we’d still be short at DE and asking any of the three to play that position would provide an offense an opportunity to expose that particular mismatch.

He's not far off
I don’t want to go too far out on a limb as far as predicting his eventual draft position, and he does have the size and he’s the top 5 technique according to some sources, so you can plug him in the lineup from day 1.
I just don’t get much excitement over him, so it’s hard to see him going near the top ten. He seems like a safe pick as you get lower in the round, but I’m not sure what has boosted his stock over the last couple months, and that makes me wonder if interest will just cool off again. His number of lifts at his pro day don’t support the idea of him being a ‘strong’ run stopper.
My feeling is the some of the guys who did show some real strength, like Ziggy, just feel better — but it’s an intuition on my part.
Re: “ideal.” Yes, that’s the problem, good fit but at the wrong point to take someone of his value though. He’s the kind of guy you would trade down and hope to get at a later spot, because he’s so logical in terms of fit.
His linemate Jarron Gilbert
may have better fit parameters as far as the Broncos go, and should be considered less valuable because of his tweener status,a nd the fact that he would move inside-out.
Always good to have options.

thank you
I have more prospects but I’m waiting for more pro days to play themselves out but in advance, I’m only interested in day one picks. Far too long Denver has put to much hope in second day picks than first day picks and is one of the reasons we find ourselves short in talent when it comes to the defense. No more 6th rounders filling in ‘admirably’. Sure they’re nice stories but I want the best stories, wins and execution!
