CALLING ALL MHR MEMBERS TO A VOTE
The recent pandemonium around here is well documented, and well posted about. However, the average FanShot/FanPost is less than 12 hours. There are too many posts talking about the same thing because posters feel that everyone must hear their point. It is becoming a real drag to read all of this over and over. I usually just lurk and read, but I am sick of it.
With that in mind, what do you guys think of a Jay Cutler thread, like a game thread? There can be updates, like the free agency one, and everything is in one place. As news is slow now, barring this drama, I think it would orgainize things and eliminate the one paragraph posts.
I don't know. I might be the only one thinking that this is getting out of hand despite the words of Guru and Papi. I'll shut up if everything is fine, but I can't handle this constant dragging on about something that has been beaten on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about.
What do you guys think? We need order? Or am I wrong?
Please leave a simple 'yes' or 'no'.(I don't know how to post a pole)
This is a Fan-Created Comment on MileHighReport.com. The opinion here is not necessarily shared by the editorial staff of MHR

I like the idea
Problem is everyone who visits the site has to know that there is a thread established for this purpose.
Thanks to Mike Shanahan, a great coach who will be dearly missed.
Hillis for starter next year. He wears special thigh pads so his solid brass balls don't give him repeated thigh contusions.

I, uh, wouldn't know how to do this.
But, I’m sure somone would have an idea.
Cutler, Marshall, and Scheffler to Detroit for Calvin Johnson, 2009 First Round Pick (20), 2009 Second Round Pick (33), and 2010 First Round Pick (?).
Get it done, McD.
What can you do for a team with 4 picks that early? I'm salivating at the combonations.

Flame them as hard as we can if they put up a post
and then delete it after 15 minutes. Huzzah!

Haha.

I like it, but you may be having to start a new thread every hour.

I don't know about that,
but unless this isn’t taken care of, I likely won’t come back until the Cutler thing is resolved.
It isn’t fun when all 10 posts are about the same thing and good, thoughtful posts are washed out by the flood of knee jerk reactions. I doubt the Historical Perspective will be up by midnight, yet there are some very good points and an idea “What if the Broncos just mess this whole thing up?”

Nevermind, I got it...
You know the sequence right before Shadow Link? With the moving platforms, the eye things that raise the water, and the out-of-place Like Like? I couldn’t figure out how to get on the statue head. I got it though.
Man, it’s been about 9 years since I played OoT on the N64, and even 11 years after it came out it still blows you away. Just the sheer amount of epic-ness (epicicity?). One of the best games of all time. It’s in a league of its own.

I've got a better idea....
How about if you have to be a member for 1 week before you post a Fanshot and 2 weeks before you can post a FanPost. That way new members have to learn the ropes before they start all these new threads.

Do we have any ideas
as to how to do this? Can someone creat a thread? Monitor the FanPosts?
I just feel I’m putting into words and actions what the majority of you are thinking. Maybe we can get a set idea and present it to the sight leaders.

I’m mostly a lurker myself and spend my work days going through the fanposts. I usually clean them out and read all the comments as well since I’ve found gold often here at MHR.
Unfortunatly I have pretty much just been reading MHR staff posts lately and 1 or 2 fanposts as they are all about Cutler rumers and none are new thoughts. I’m hoping this all dies off here soon even if it means a trade, as much as I don’t want that to happen.

How about this:
I’ll replace this post with a new one, and just call it a Jay Cutler discussion Thread. Anyone who wnats to talk about it, post a link about or anything liek that can do it there…
It’ll stay in the fanposts, you guys can rec it if you want, and then it will stay at the top.
I fyou see someone in another thread talking about Cutler, kindly ask them to tak it to the discussion thread.
Any one fo you guys could actually do this, but I suggested that I would do it due to SWGs comment about who posts what. If I put it up, it will “Look” kind of official….?
Thoughts?

building cred at MHR. It was one of the first posts I read, and I reread it before i ever did my first FanPost.

I'll let HT know
he is reworking the series a little so this one is probably on his list, but I’ll double check. I agree, it was a great introduction to getting along with a communtiy, and I have found that it applies (in a way) to a lot of similar situations, not just MHR…

It's going to be my next front page post.
It should be wrapped up today (18th), and go up today or tomorow. These current events have bumped it up a bit.

BroncoDude (and everyone)....
BroncoDude has a very valid concern. His idea has credibility, and the staff has read it. With the greatest of respect to BroncoDude and all of the membership, consider this view also:
I think Guru wants the fanpost section to remain a forum run by the members. The staff will jump in if there is vulgarity, personal attacks, or a post that is so short or devoid of anything beyond “So and So is a jerk, and I don’t like his position as (QB, Coach, Owner, etc)”. But we will be VERY slow to do this, and deliberative in our decision making. It may frustrate the members a bit, but we want to get it right. Once we as staff step in with too strong of a hand, we lose the family atmosphere that everyone has worked so hard to build up. I don’t think placing certain posts in quarantine is the way to go, though I respect and understand the thinking behind it.
We’ll keep letting folks put up posts that reflect news, opinions, and analysis. But the staff has already started the process of pruning the vines where it has to be done. We don’t like to intervene, because this is a fan driven site (not a staff oriented site). We are very slow and cautious to delete posts and comments. We are VERY slow to ban memberships. But we will defend the site when it has to be done. We’re already taking quite steps to do so, and we ask for your patience and support. It’s a slow process, but a thoughtful and contemplative one.
As the current team controversy dies out, so will some of the postings that we are all growing tired of. Guru just put up an excellent story on keeping our site’s vision, and I have another one ready to roll today or tomorow. It’s a turbulent time, but one that is already starting to calm down at MHR (albeit slowly). Have patience. Your concerns are very valid, and they are even now being addressed at MHR’s HQ.
I think you’ll like the results.

Also...
Remember to use the “flag function” by clicking on “actions” when you see a fanpost or a comment that is objectionable. Guru gets these messages right away, and takes them very seriously.
Even if you don’t see an immediate result, there is always action being taken. It may be a private request or warning to the offending party, or it may be added to a list that is being considered for later action. The staff also keeps their eyes open for problem areas.
But the flag function (as used by a member) is the number one way to alert us that a problem is present.
The staff is reading these posts about frustration with some of the recent fanposts, and the issue is being addressed. The flag function goes a long ways towards focusing attention on the problem.
