T.J. Houshmandzadeh goes to Seattle
How does that warrant a fanpost here on MHR? Well it probably leaves Seattle who was originally looking to get someone like a Crabtree, out to get Raji, who we all know by now as someone who was on our radar. Especially now that Crabtree won't be participating in all events at his ProDay, it probably means that Raji won't fall to us. In which case, I think its got to be LB for us, but some of you have done much more hw in regards to the draft than I have, so I ask what does this change for Denver?

wow, but not a surprise
It was looking like he would go today. The Seahawks certainly need help at WR.
Re: Raji. There’s just too many teams above us that could take him, so I’ve tempered my expectations. Oddly, I’ve grown less certain who we’ll pick in the 1st rather than more, and that’s somewhat unusual. I’d be happy to see us pick up Brace in the 2nd, but if that doesn’t work out then so be it. BTW — Seattle did pick up Colin Cole so there’s one less reason to take Raji.
I can’t say that there have been major changes in our draft status because of Seattle’s pickup. Crabtree is still going to go in the top ten so it’s more a re-shuffling. Preferences of the teams above us are still fluid enough to create uncertainty over who will pick whom when, and that’s even though our targets are almost solely on defense and not many teams above us have the same focus.

Colinski...
Call me crazy but I think all this fuss with McDaniels and Cutler brings RB into the equation. We all can honestly say, we have no clue what McDaniels and Xanders are thinking and a little help for the kid may smooth things over.
There is obviously much to still figure out but I don’t think it can be ruled out right now.

re: RB in the equation
Actually, that thought crossed my mind, too, although it also looks like they’re trying to fill areas of weakness with FAs. Whether they sign Arrington should have an impact since they’ll have tipped their hand regarding their perception of a continuing need.
The general idea of FA signings is to fill needs, and this allows them to go into the draft without having an area that must be addressed, which gives them the leeway to choose players who fit into their longterm plans instead of relying on rookies for immediate help.
The logic of adding a RB in this scenario is the same as that for any team. You choose one because it’s the best way of improving your team.
The one indication I see in their FA acquisitions is a tendency to use RBC. I can’t say this rules out using a high pick at RB but depth would be their primary consideration, and this can be achieved in many ways.

I like Brace also...
And with signing of Fields it would make sense.

Personally,
I would rather draft Ron Brace in the second and Sammie Lee Hill in the fifth over Raji. I think he’s too high of a risk in the first round.
Or we could just trade our second for Shaun Rogers. Please?

me too (I think).
To love the Broncos is to suffer. To avoid suffering one must not love. But then one suffers from not loving. Therefore, to love is to suffer; not to love is to suffer; to suffer is to suffer. To be happy is to love. To be happy, then, is to suffer, but suffering makes one unhappy. Therefore, to be unhappy, one must love or love to suffer or suffer from too much happiness.

You would give
the 12th overall pick for a guy with an attitude problem and a history of questionable work ethic? Wait, am I talking about Raji or Rogers?

I would give it for a guy that is a proven dominant starter in the NFL.

How often?
You can’t rely on him from week to week. I wouldn’t give up the 12th pick for a guy that inconsistent.
