''He's our quarterback''
Finally the coach Josh McDaniels said it!!! It seems like the broncos are going to do everything to try to keep Jay Cutler a bronco.
I don't know what are you feeling guys, but it is great to know tha our new HC said in national madia that he wants to keep jay as our starting quarterback! Hopefully it'll work out and Jay decide to be a bronco.

No disrespect to you, all to the media
He said this, Xanders said this many many times and no one listened. Cook had to step out of the lime light (hat tip Styg) to try and keep this going. now “all of a sudden” the entire NFL World is behind McDaniels. You think that is why Bowlen didn’t say anything? Thanks for posting this. Now the National Media will run with the Story

Missing Links enabeling Jay to Stay are:
1. a relationship with his position coach and the new OC. These are basically a ready made support group for Jay and we have heard nothing of ar about them yet. Has Jay even met either of them?
2. an approach to Jay that workes toward solving his concerns that the New England style offense does not fit his style of play. (Pocket vs. Scrambler).
IMO he is not after a bigger contract with the Broncos. He would know that McZ can not do that and keep contract integrety with everone else . So McD, OC, QBC need to work hard with Jay to determine how to best use his skills even if that means expanding McD play book to include Jays favorate plays.

Pocket vs. Scrambler
Cutler is the best of both worlds.

Why do you think NE doesn't fit his style?
You presuppose that NE uses a pocket passer out of choice. Don’t you think it’s likely that NE does that because Tom Brady may be the worst scrambler in the history of the NFL?
This is the idiotic mistake that MSM pundits keep making. Just because NE does or doesn’t do something does not mean that that is what McD wants to do in Denver. Many of the things the Patriots do they do because that’s what fits the personnel they have. They didn’t used to be a verticle passing team. But they quickly changes when they acquired Randy Moss.

In fairness to Tom Brady...
…(and I’m no Tom Brady fan), he shows incredible situational awareness and footwork within the pocket. I know that’s not what you are talking about, but Brady is able to take a step or two to avoid a tackle and doesn’t even have to look around to do it.

I stand corrected...
Brady may only be the second worst scrambler.

did we count Griese?
dude had the WORST pocket awareness i’ve ever seen. if he had eyes in the back of his head they were covered by his helmet.
maybe he doesn’t count though, since he’s not a starter… i don’t think….

Agreed HT
Brady, as are all great quarterbacks, is very good at the subtle movements within the pocket. But no one will ever confuse him with John Elway.
My point was the NE does what fits the players they have rather than force fitting players into a rigid system as is often portrayed in the MSM.

This is the big Q
You presuppose that NE uses a pocket passer out of choice. Don’t you think it’s likely that NE does that because Tom Brady may be the worst scrambler in the history of the NFL?
All the comments on the Cutler situation, and how McD wanted Cassell because he fits the system better than Cutler have been ridiculous. Do you really think any HC would want a rag arm QB instead of Cutler because the ragarm fits his system better? If any HC couldn’t adapt his system to a great QB like Culter, he should be the janitor instead of the HC.
Yet must thou sail after knowledge, knowing less than drugged beasts.

I agree that the MSM misses the mark in thinking that...
…McDaniels cares if a QB is a pocket or scrambling QB. That’s a distinction that may be important in “Madden”, but not on a field. More important to a HC might be other attributes, such as the balance between traits like accuracy, distance, injury history, intelligence, poise under pressure, risk taking (ie “gunslinger” versus “gun shy”), etc.
While a QB may fit a system better than another, I don’t think scrambling has anything to do with it. You just coach a player to run less, or run more. A scrambler (with a strong arm) can play in any system, but his other attributes are more important. A terrific pocket passer (like a Manning) may not have the mobility, but may be extraordinary in another talent (in his case, the ability to process a field of moving targets in zero seconds).

A good example
Is Elway…early in his career he was a scrambling mad-man and he excelled at it. Defenses would oftentimes get frozen because they’d have to pick their poison…die by the QB scrambling for yards or die by the QB passing over them to the wide-open receiver.
Then enter the West-Coast offense. Elway was taught to trust his line more (and it was upgraded of course so it wouldn’t fall apart) and make his reads in a much shorter field. Elway did fantastic AND when things did go to hell in a handbasket he could still fall back on his scrambling ability and make a play.
I see Jay doing much the same in this offense…it is just a matter of teaching him to rely on his reads more and to go through his progressions more quickly.
I don’t want breakaway speed. I want break-some-poor-fool-as-I-bowl-you-over power getting 6 yards off a play that should have been stopped for 2 at most.
hey guy
where is the cutsper is he still in the nashville why he like the nashville so much. he should be at denver in the vonltary work out.

Good to see you blogging Horvil. Cutler won’t show until mandatory workouts. It would undermine his position to eat crow and show up now. Signs are looking good though that he will be under center. If he isn’t it will be because he doesn’t Bronco up and be a man about his contract.

Maybe he’s in Nashville because that karaoke session with Peyton at the Pro Bowl made him hunger for a big country record contract. Maybe Bus Cook is thinking he could get a bigger payday from the Opry??

Please contact me at my e-mail. I’ve talked to Guru, and I’d like to help you out with your hacker problem at your site and see if there is any way MHR can help a friend in need. There are some sharp computer tech guys around here, and we might be able to lend you a hand. If you have soured on running a site, perhaps we can help there as well.
You have a lot of fans at MHR, and we are behind you and wish you all the best.

Question
Right now, after all of this, would you still get a Cutler jersey right now? Because I am considering it.
I would
I’m not really a jersey guy though… I bought Clady this year, and it was my first jersey ever. I plan on wearing it until it falls apart.

I can't give up on it!
I plan on breaking it in slowly in preseason, and filming myself while I do it.
Then i break down the tape, find out what the problem is, and the jersey should be ready by the regular season.
And if ANYTHING happens to Clady, I burn the jersey and throw the ashes in the Bering Sea. You have my word on that.
