Save Me from the horrid Chiefs fans Bronx

Big-time Raiders fan here and it seems theKC fans have begun to trash our blog. I can't debate football with those retards. No football intelligence whatsoever. I would however like to debate some football matters with some sensible rivals. You guys are a very well done blog with a lot of civilized and intelligent people and I'd love to go a round or two debating with you gents.

However there's another purpose for my post. i say we go and invade the KC blog. We all share a mutual hatred for them and I'd love to get back at them for invading/trashing our blog. I STRONGLY encourage you all to go do so. They're the biggest homers and annoying them would be vastly entertaining.  If not, I understand. After all a raiders fan teaming up with Broncos fans is pretty crazy. But remember it's the freaking Chiefs. They have it coming to them.

Anywho, football debates and/or Chief trashing begins................. now!

Do we dare ally with the raiders over the Chiefs???

This is a tall order you are asking for, Kaiser. I MIGHT defend you here or on your own blog, but I won’t invade KC’s. And for the sake of MHR’s credibility, I ask that other members refrain from doing this as well.

And what did they do exactly? I can tell you respect us and our blog, but I would ask you to do the courtesy of refraining from bad language when you’re over here. Someone (or everyone) is going to have to say it sometime, so I might as well now.

And if you want intelligent football discussion, maybe you should interact with our posts and have some intelligent discourse, rather than invade another blog. Unless that’s just how you roll.

I don't mean to invade

and I your retrospect you’re probably right, but I just want some good, wholesome football debating. i love to argue, but the Cheifs fan are delusional. They think they’ve “taken over” and “pushed us out” I’ve chosen to just ignore them and talk to some real football fans. I was hoping here we could talk of each other’s teams and whatnot. I’ll probably be a frequent commenter on here because after reading your guys’ post, I can tell you people are very bright people. definitely one of the more top-notch blogs on SB Nation.

P.S. I apologize for my cursing. I didn’t know your policy on the issue and I will edit it out of my message.

He's a highly rated NT...

and a 3-4 defense desperately needs a good NT. Unfortunately, I don’t think he’s going to be a good NT. Sigh. So no.

I would like Raji...I hope the Broncos do whatever they can to bring him in.

Even if he doesn’t play NT right of the bat then I think he can make an immediate contribution as an end (and would be a significant upgrade over anyone we currently have in that role).

Our first pick MUST be D line…he’s the best option imo.

"C" is for Championship...that's good enough for meeeee!!!

Ignorance is Bliss

BJ Raji, whose first name, Busari, is Nigerian for bliss. (Pun intended)

Fair question: Is he smart enough to learn a playbook?

Was suspended for the first half of the Clemson game in 2006 for throwing a punch at a Central Michigan player. … Missed the entire 2007 season due to academics. Maturity and commitment have been questioned. He’s been inconsistent as he runs hot and cold. Intelligence may be an issue. Durability could be an issue with his past injuries

I see more downside than positive with this guy. Denver needs a first rounder that will gel into a Pro Bowl player. Personally I’d rather see the Broncos pass on Raji, although he seems like he would be a perfect fit in oakland.

There are some character issues as well....

Tim Ryan on sirius said there maybe some pednong legal and character issues as well with Raji. I believe him and Kirwan. They are straight shooters and are on the pulse.
I am a no for Raji and a yes for Brace…although I think Brace will go before we get a chance to pick him.

Nothing is as impportant than talking to your son. I have been working the night shift myself alot, but family is too important to not spend time with him. Make sure to catch it up, and by doing that, let the football side of things suffer. Playing ball with your boy (if he is of age) is worlds more productive than talking to a bunch of KC fans.

Family matters, as you know, and I wish the absolute best fo you and him for now and the future!

when we beat you last year and we beat the raiders who . Have a new coaching staff and a bust for a qb. And as for the broncos I cant see them doing that great or atleast winning the division san diego was hurt all last year from LT to merriman I see them getting back on track . And denver has no defense if wack ass larry johnson is running all over you there is no way your record is that good .

But his dedication and work ethic are outstanding. Now if KC can find a way to put opposing QB’s on their backs, you could be looking tough. I’d like to say Parcells and Pioli know how to pick out it’s staff and players. Considering Haley is Parcells/ Pioli certified I’d like to believe he’ll do a helluva lot better than Nolan in San Fran. We’ll see how this season plays out.

P.S I love Jay Cutler right now he’s the best player on our team

nolan wasnt a bad coach

san fran just has a poor front office . San fran is hopeless. They have a lot of talent and nolan helped get some good players in there. But with the lack of a solid qb and a reciever they could never win. Nolan did the best he could and I thought he did good with what he had. As for our coach i think his history speaks for it self he has been to a super bowl and has a knack for making players work and get better. Although he is a fire starter he still pushes the max out of everyone he coaches.

If you haven't heard much, then that's excellent.

We’ve mostly been ignoring it, because it’s sensationalist MSM bullcrap at its best. The latest I heard was that he and McD are “texting.” Lol, I guess that means something. If you want to read an excellent take on it, Styg wrote an article a couple of weeks ago about Jay and Bus Cook. It’s a featured article, and comes very highly recommended.

As it stands right now, I think we could say that there’s a 90% chance he’ll start for us on Opening Day.

Now for your turn: What’s the over/under on how many games until Tom Cable becomes the next Shanny/Kiffin? Lol, just kidding. But do you think he can take you to the next level?

I seem to have lost my future self.

by papigrande on Mar 26, 2009 7:49 PM MDT up reply actions

Thanks for the cutler update

I believe Cable can take us to the next level. Like I said 7-9. That would end our streak of 10+ loss seasons. He believes strongly in the team and the players love him. he has a very good eye for talent and really got the team together to end the season beating two teams who were trying to win. Houston was fighting for their first winning record and the Bucs were fighting for playoffs. I say 7 wins and sweeping a division rival will keep him around. I see him sticking with us.

who are the DT's you have on roster

i know Robertson’s gone and was wondering who’s behind him. Also, what do you think are your draft needs?

V- "I'm not questioning your powers of observation. I'm merely remarking on the paradox of asking a masked man who he is."

by KA1Z3R on Mar 26, 2009 7:54 PM MDT up reply actions

We got Ronald Fields from San Francisco

And….. yeah. Most of us are pretty high on Fields, but he has only ever been a backup. I’m worried that he might be a Koutouvides. And we have Carlton Powell, who missed his rookie season last year with an Achilles injury, but I see him as more of an end than a DT unless he puts on some weight.

As for draft needs, DT obviously, but I’m not high on all about Raji. I think the risks outweigh the benefits, and I would never sink #12 money into him. LB is also a concern, and we need players in the secondary. So, basically if we can get a whole defense with our 9 picks we’ll be set. We also need a running back, wide receiver (a small speedy one) and interior O-line depth.

I seem to have lost my future self.

Looking at film, I think that Brace actually handles double teams better than Raji. I don’t care if my NT can rush the passer, I just want a guy who can be a mountain in the middle. We take Jenkins over Davis if they are both there and Rey Rey is gone.

I don’t want breakaway speed. I want break-some-poor-fool-as-I-bowl-you-over power getting 6 yards off a play that should have been stopped for 2 at most.

by sadaraine on Mar 27, 2009 10:20 AM MDT up reply actions

I figured you guys would like Davis better

I don’t mean this as an insult, but an observation. It seems Denver takes man corners, and puts them in the zone. Just like with the zone blocking on the offense, the zone defense turns man corners into great zone guys. This is mainly the case of Champ Bailey. Bly was okay but not great. I figured you could mold Davis into the next Bailey, but Jenkins would probably be more of that sort now that I think of it.

V- "I'm not questioning your powers of observation. I'm merely remarking on the paradox of asking a masked man who he is."

by KA1Z3R on Mar 27, 2009 1:59 PM MDT up reply actions

Ah

One of the myriad of problems with our defense…our past few DCs didn’t seem to understand that you can actually play two different kinds of corners in the same personnel. Bly’s biggest problem was that they didn’t play to his strengths on that side…he’s a risk taker and needs safety help to excel. They didn’t get it. Nolan will be different though.

I don’t want breakaway speed. I want break-some-poor-fool-as-I-bowl-you-over power getting 6 yards off a play that should have been stopped for 2 at most.

by sadaraine on Mar 27, 2009 2:36 PM MDT up reply actions

yeah nolan's a very good DC

he can definitely turn the defense around. He’s a very good talent evaluator. If he’s behind any of your signings or draft picks, then it’s bound to be a good player.

V- "I'm not questioning your powers of observation. I'm merely remarking on the paradox of asking a masked man who he is."

by KA1Z3R on Mar 27, 2009 2:40 PM MDT up reply actions

The problem at WR

Is that Marshall isn’t getting smart enough to stay out of trouble. For that reason alone a lot of us think this draft we should pick up a project WR that can be a back up for a couple years and then take over one of the starting roles.

I don’t want breakaway speed. I want break-some-poor-fool-as-I-bowl-you-over power getting 6 yards off a play that should have been stopped for 2 at most.

by sadaraine on Mar 27, 2009 10:20 AM MDT up reply actions

like what round?

if you’re going to do that early then Robiskie would be good. If you’re thinknig later, then Dillard or Demetrius Byrd are two great names. Especially Byrd. He’s one of the fastest WR in the draft, only behind Maclin. Like papigrande said, you need a short speedy guy. That’s exactly what Byrd is.

V- "I'm not questioning your powers of observation. I'm merely remarking on the paradox of asking a masked man who he is."

by KA1Z3R on Mar 27, 2009 2:01 PM MDT up reply actions

Agreed

I’d like us to address WR later…our early picks really should go towards the defense (especially the line). Byrd would be money IMO.

That is kind of where I was going with it

in what alternate universe does oakland (and al davis more specifically) make reasonable draft picks?? The last two drafts especially look good, and that offense is right around the corner from scoring some points. Sooooo….. what it gonna take? I’m thinking move henderson to RT and draft a franchise LT. With time in the pocket, Russell develops. But you hear about how Davis won’t be able to pass up speedy Crabtree…. I don’t think Russell can wait that long. He’s young, but development delayed is development lost…

We already addressed that

With the signings of Barnes, Henderson,Satele, and Pears . Russell should have a lot more time to throw he is a smart QB doesn’t make many INT’s but accuracy needs to improve.

by nishal26 on Mar 26, 2009 11:01 PM MDT up reply actions

This is true

But that was because Russell came in under the Kiffin/Knapp pseudo-west coast/check down type system. That as you know is contrary to the typical Raider/Al Davis stretch the field system. Know, with Tollner in as the “passing game coordinator”, we expect t see a more down field, Coryellesque type of passing game that will best make use of Russell’s talents.

Work ethic.

Is Russell a blue collar hard working type…I’ve read a few things about him having some laziness in there. I could be wrong, let me know. Talk about talent, but isn’t it about time for him to be having monster games and winning you guys close ones?

by gunnermc on Mar 27, 2009 5:35 AM MDT up reply actions

Absolutely

This is the year for Russell to have a break out year. He came to Oakland with a first year, young, never-been-a head coach in Kiffin and an even lesser qualified QB coach. Now we believe under the tutelage of Hackett and Tollner JaMarcus should be in a position to be successful.

Regarding his supposed laziness. Most of that really is media made as Russell has been in shape and has been working hard in the off season to become an elite QB. Can he do more? Time will tell.

Your team is your child...You love it no matter what.

agreed, the weight thing is incredibly false

ESPn said he was like 280 and he was like 260 which was lighter than his college weight. he’s just a big strong guy. I remember that pic of him stiff arming DJ Williams or a run in a Denver game the year before last. That’s when i said knew he was hardcore.

Point is he’s a big strong guy and is not fat. He actually looks remarkably well-built.

As for work ethic, he was a little bit lazy back when Kiffin was coach. Didn’t watch as much film as he could have. But with cable as coach, he’s been at the facility working out and watching game film everyday. He’s really a very hard-worker this offseason.

but nishal, he wasn’t an all-star, he was a pro bowler.

Anywho, Barnes is a good OT but we don’t know how well he’ll do at left and I’d rather seem him play right side. henderson played great football last year and I’d like to see him keep starting at left side. if he starts to slide then i say move barnes to the left and have either Henderson or Pears playing right side.

Actually we are excited

by the “lack” of moves, in so far as, the lack of other team, big contract free agent signings. We are very pleased that we have re-signed almost all of our own potential free agent players. This, is of course, contrary to years past, where I believe that Al has learned his lesson that there are no short cuts in the NFL. That is to say, that you have trust in your young players and build through the draft.

I actually like the Erik Pears signing from you guys. Pears seems to be athletic, agile and versatile and should do well in our similar ZBS systems.

but we already have four solid OT's

We have Henderson who played tremendous football, manhandling the likes of Gaines Adams and Mario Williams. We hope he keeps that success going this year. barnes is a former pro bowler and is more suited to the ZBS. He should be a quality starter. You all remember Pears. Green has been our starter the past two years. True he got arrested, but it’s his first offense and I don’t think he’ll be suspended. he’s a great run blocker but he sucks in the passing game.

I’d like to see us draft Raji or Orakpo, but I’ll be happy with Crabtree. If none of those three are there (which could very well happen), then we should trade down and get Heyward-Bey and either Maualuga, Laurinitas, or Matthews. I’m really hoping we trade down.

I would hate for Raji to go to The AFC-West other that the raiders

If he goes to the Gay Chiefs that would really stop our three headed RB attack.

If the Broncos don't go for Raji, who else is there at the D-Line?

What I want the Broncos to do before the start of next season:
1) Improve the defense drastically.
2) Improve terms with Jay Cutler.
3) Talk Jay into firing Bus Cook as his agent.
4) Sign Torry Holt to a 1 year deal.

Let's go BRONCOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by broncoholic on Mar 27, 2009 7:54 AM MDT reply actions

The irony....of this post....is too much to bear! lol

The other irony is that Guru is on good terms with the head of the Chiefs blog, but MHR as a whole can’t stand Arrowhead Pride members. Meanwhile, after a rocky start with SABP…MHR and SAPB are rather amicable with one another….except during Raider week.

As for Chief fans…they are marginally more classy than Charger fans. Marginally. :)

I dig seeing the great conversations here. You guys that posted are the coolest Raiders fans I’ve seen. It’s all good during off season in my opinion.

You can burn in hell once the season starts, though. :P

are you just going to stick with the castoff RB’s, or are you looking for a big-time RB?

By the way, nice pickup in Buckhalter.

It's a bunch of role players

McDaniels used those kinds of guys in New England to great success, but I don’t like the style. To me, it seems like we have a bunch of castoffs and backups, andI would rather have guy who can take over a game and put the other team out in the third quarter. I think that Peyton Hillis may be able to do that, and to a lesser extent Buckhalter. I also like to hear that we will be largely keeping the zone scheme that Shanny used, as it seems like that kind of system can maximize the potential of these types of runners.

I seem to have lost my future self.

by papigrande on Mar 27, 2009 4:53 PM MDT up reply actions

I am a Hillis fan so I hope he is featured, but the role players will be adequate placeholders

until the D gets upgraded. If that means we have to wait until next year’s draft to get a RB, so be it.

BTW, what do you raiders fans think of Jordan playing for Denver?

I agree, Larsen shouldn’t get any bigger. I am getting tired of his bone crushing hits knocking the pixels off my TV, once they fall to the floor they are very hard to find.

answering artic and papi

Papi- Hillis should definitely have more carries for Denver. He’s your best RB and could be considered an actual starter. Buckhalter’s a quality back and is a nice pick up.

artic- I don’t really mind that you got jordan. He’s not as good as he…….. well other than that one year with the Jets he’s never been good. Nothing more than 5-6 carry a game guy to me.

V- "I'm not questioning your powers of observation. I'm merely remarking on the paradox of asking a masked man who he is."

I am concerned that Jordan & Buckhalter have too much wear and tear

I am glad they are on the team, but I will be surprised if they stick more than two years.

I agree, Larsen shouldn’t get any bigger. I am getting tired of his bone crushing hits knocking the pixels off my TV, once they fall to the floor they are very hard to find.

by Arctic Bronco on Mar 27, 2009 6:46 PM MDT up reply actions

fair enough

but buckhalter can give you a lot in those two years. He’s a very balanced RB. no real flaws, but he doesn’t excel at anything. He’s not a power back, not a speed back, not a receiving back, just a back.

V- "I'm not questioning your powers of observation. I'm merely remarking on the paradox of asking a masked man who he is."

I'm glad that Pears is still in the AFC West

It is funny how our division has such a long history of “catch and release” with young talent. Pears was a undrafted free agent who made the best of his abilities. I think he was one of the first big O-linemen to come on board in quite a while. I hope Pears gives you guys 14 good games per year.

Now that Dawkins is in Denver, how’s the safety spot for you guys?

Plugged

Hill and Dawkins can tie their own cleats so they are a cut above the jokers we had last year. I also heard a rumor they can play football so that should be nice to see. If you are interested in what our roster “currently” looks like you can check out my incumbent breakdown Here and Here. In the end I think we only keep Dawkins, Hill and Barret from the current roster and pick up another safety (preferably FS) in the draft. The two “projected starter” have a lot of upside in that they know how to play safety not just 4th LB. I think that with Dawkins patrolling the middle and back with Hill’s assistance Champ and Goodman will be more than a match for Opposing WR Corps.

Actually I think Fox has a good shot....

His cover skills are better than Barret in zone and he seems to see the whole field better, though Barret plays man on TE’s better. I think it entirely depends on who we draft.

by SlowWhiteGuy on Mar 28, 2009 7:34 PM MDT up reply actions

does depend on the draft

I really dont like Fox. He does however play a good zone, just not a good deep zone. Nolan tends to do man or deep zone this could be his problem.

We are deciding who to put as safety

Maybe we will draft someone , give the job to Huff, or Tyvon Branch, If we don’t draft a S then those two will likely compete at Camp.

as K said below

Oakland’s taking some looks at Vaughn which has made me extremely giddy. That guy is an animal tackler and lays a mean hit to anybody who manages to beat him in coverage. Perfect SS for Oakland with Branch at free.

To evaluate him. He is someone we like in the later rounds.

Also, what’s the deal with Culter now. From what I heard, he wants to stay now. The coach and him are “getting along.”

Vaughn's clip shows him to be a good hitter.

Seems like a good fit for your team, especially as your safeties are not that stout. Every AFC West team has a strong running game so run stuffing SS’s are always a hot commodity. Hmmmm. if Barrett shows that he can play FS we should consider Vaughn for SS.
