DP - Rev. Kelly is sticking with Brandon Marshall.

ESPN - In case you missed it, Gene Wojciechowski has some harsh words for Jay Cutler.

So, after swearing that he “knew for a fact” that the Bronco’s were actively shopping Cutler, Bus Cook now says it depends on what you read. He is either an idiot who needs to get thrown in your favorite closet for a beating, or … well no, actually I can’t think of another viable option. Cutler needs a new agent in the worst way. I think the sun is setting on Cook’s other major headliner, so he is doing what he has to to maintain his news-worthiness, to our detriment.
Granted, this has completely exposed some unsavory personal traits of Cutler’s I suppose we need to be aware of, but all in all I just want it to go away.

I'm tired of hearing about money, money, money, money, money. I just want to play the game, drink Pepsi, wear Reebok.

Humour (UK spelling) :o)

There is a semi humorous article on profootballtalk where an anonymous source (thank you espn i will take that job) talks about “ManKok” wanting to trade brady quinn and shaun rodgers for cutler and a 3rd rounder.

My take is obviously it is bunk and mischief making but if the call actually came (with the way things are) would anyone pull the trigger?

I'd love to play bridge with the clowns who write these stories

Their grasp of details and numbers is just so minimal. Yes, Woody, if McD considered Cutler for Cassel straight-up, that would be nuts. But that wasn’t the deal: It was Cutler for Casell and draft picks. See how that works? If it were just Cutler for Cassel, the Broncs would have received JUST Cassell, and not OTHER PICKS in addition. Player + draft picks > player. Call me crazy, but that’s how I read it.

details.. we don't need no stinkin details

what we need is things that make people go OMFG.. the world is ending.. over react “flap flap flap”

details are for not what these hacks (and they are mostly hacks) are interested in.

Facts don’t sell papers..

3 draft picks from what I read...

Would the Broncos be better off with Cassel for Cutler – probably not.
Would the Broncos be better off with Cassel AND 3 more draft picks? That’s hard to say. Apparently the Broncos brass believe that Cutler is worth more than Cassel plus 3 picks and Cutler is feeling slighted. Go figure. I would have taken the deal in a heart beat.

Paige's article

is extremely well reasoned, IMHO.

Although I question his assertion that McD lied. I shot him an email requesting clarification on that point . I’ll be sure to share if I hear back from him.

I agree...

I’ve yet to see anyone in the MSM suggest that Denver was “shopping” Cutler. There seems to be universal agreement that Denver answered the phone, listened to an offer, thought about it and said no. That agree’s with what McD said. At this point it seems like the front office has been straight-forward. The only one’s who have lied are the MSM (or at least stretched the truth), Bus Cook (first saying thye know, then later saying it depends on who you read) and Cutler.

I had to send Woody an email in response to it.

He isn’t a very pleasant personality, but he may be one of the better Broncos beat writers out there in the mainstream. The one line that struck a chord with me was “Where is Pat Bowlen?” I asked myself that very question yesterday when I first heard of all this drama(I was offline and not watching tv all weekend. lol).

Good question.

Bowlen has established himself as the head of this team with McDaniels and Xanders reporting directly to himself. If he wasn’t involved in this from the beginning (which I am afraid he was) then he needs to get involved now and get this settled.

I commented on this very point yesterday and said

I believe Bowlen is letting his guys handle the “mess”. He pays them a whole lot of money to run the shop. Granted, Bowlen is part of that shop, but IMO if he steps in super quick is undermines his confidence in the guys he just hired to run things. I imagine we’ll hear Bowlen’s take on the matter later this offseason after things have blown over or blown up….

I personally live by the mantra, “if I have to do your job, why am I paying you.” I think that might explain his silence… Then again, I could be way off base… Wouldn’t be the first time… :)

I'll bet Mr. B is actually a little annoyed with the way Jay took the news.

And I think bc is dead on when he speculates Mr. B is letting his new hires handle it. If he didn’t think they could put out fires and relate to players, he wouldn’t have hired them.

Agree on Paige's article

I am anxious to hear if he replys.

I'll let you know

I’ve had replies from him before on other topics, so he seems to be fairly responsive to fans.

Heard back from Woody
McDaniels was not the recipient. Thank you. Woody Paige

That’s all he said. If that’s true, it definitely colors my perception of McD. But again, it’s a rookie mistake. Let’s hope they both learn from it and move on.

Do they call him Bus

because that’s where he throws his players under? What an idiot.

Maybe he *is* the bus

that he throws his players in front of, if he’s advising Jay that this is more personal than business.
