Cutler to Cleveland for Quinn & Rogers?
Broncofreaks.com is reporting this:
Our source tells us the players involved are: Brady Quinn and Shaun Rogers for Jay Cutler and the Broncos 3rd round draft pick.
Don't know how I feel about this one. It's just Broncofreaks but holy crap. When did we become the Dallas Freaking Cowboys? Both sides need to take a glass of chill (Or in Cutler's case, Shut-the-heck-up) and work things out. It's hard for me to sympathize with Jay when his agent is being quoted everywhere and Cutler himself is going on Jim Rome. The Broncos are crazy not to entertain offers and Jay needs to be a big boy and accept the way things are in the NFL. Work it out over some International Foods coffee, hug, win Super Bowl. Enough of this!

The PFT is more tongue in cheek – i.e. lets start a rumour….

they'll start a rumor...
but 7 out of 10 times it will be true.

You're missing the point
They say that it is “an old-fashioned, unsubstantiated, poo-on-the-wall ‘Internet rumor’" BroncosFreak was obviously sick of reporters using b******* sources, so they made up a trade rumor using their own "unnamed source.”

If Cutler can't get his head on straight...
I’d make that trade. It would give us a huge cog on the defensive line, and I’m sure that McD could turn Quinn into a serviceable QB. Like it or not, McD isn’t going anywhere, lets make lemonade!! (y’know the old saying what do you do when life gives you a lemon??) Am I making sense at all?
I don’t know if it would make the team better, but it couldn’t make it any worse – overall. Just my opinion, but I’m not very smart.
A little bit of a misnomer, for you will find no solace here.

Nice post Idaho!
I saw this at profootballtalk.com as well.
When is the Messiah appearing on Jim Rome? I would like to watch that! Thats probably worth a post itself as many of us would be really interested.
I am on the fence with this trade as well.
I would rather give Cleveland our 1st or 2nd (preferably) and take Rogers staright up and keep the Messiah!

Sorry if I have offended anyone out their with the Messiah reference to Jay Cutler: to both the JC fans and the religious. This is tongue and cheek!

I'd do this trade...
…as long as both sides can’t reconcile. I think that this would greatly help the D, but obviously hurt the O some. Lets see if this gains any more steam over the next couple of days (maybe even hours!)

Quinn can't carry Cutler's jock....
Therefore….no deal. I don’t care what other position players we get
by swg777 on Mar 3, 2009 7:57 AM MST reply actions 0 recs
He wouldn't need to...
This is just a rumor deliberately floated for humor. BUT, do you really think the Broncos would be better with just Jay vs. Quin plus Rogers.
Given what we’ve seen from Cutler the past few days, I think we should have taken the trade with NE/TB. Cassel plus a better #1 and additional 2nd and 3rd would be better than just Jay.
by SlowWhiteGuy on Mar 3, 2009 9:00 AM MST up reply actions 0 recs
My understanding of the NE/TB trade was that we swapped DOWN first round picks, which would make it considerably worse for us.
As for Quinn and Rogers, I think despite everything we’d still be better off with Jay than Rogers and Quinn. Consider that Quinn has played in 4 games through 2 seasons and compiled a sub 50% completion , only 5.8 YPA, and exactly 2 TD’s and 2 INT’s. By comparison, in the 5 games he played in his FIRST SEASON Cutler posted a nearly 60 completion percentage, 7.3 YPA, and 9 TD’s and 5 INT’s. Having shown nothing through his first two seasons, it’s safe to say that despite all the draft hype, Quinn is probably a bust- and a fairly well payed bust at that.
In essence, we’d be trading Jay Cutler a very talented QB who is sometimes spectacular and other times uninspiring and has a possibly bad attitude for Shaun Rogers, a DT/NT who is very talented and is occasionally spectacular and often uninspiring and has a bad attitude.

Oh god Brady Quinn.
He’s a nice idea at QB, but….. I hope this doesn’t happen. Doesn’t compare to Cutler very well in tools, and isn’t necessarily an upgrade in the maturity department either. I wasn’t too impressed with how he handled the debate between him and Anderson (before Anderson imploded and made the choice inevitable).
(Not least because we then have to put up with all the Brady Quinn jokes. A quick Google Image search will edify you if you don’t know about this. Either that or Kissing Suzy Kolber).

True.
But I shudder to think what kind of perfect storm will be unleashed if these guys get traded for each other… in all senses of the word. Loyal Browns fans outraged that their guy has been cut out from underneath them, loyal Broncos fans equally outraged…. it’ll be a giant flailing mess.
Although I have to say, yesterday’s McD/Rivers post on KSK was a-fricking-mazing.

It is really the only idea that could even remotely make sense...
Not necessarily this deal specifically, but the Browns situation. And remember, Quinn ran the “patriots” offense under Charlie Weis at ND.
That said, Mangini didn’t want Favre. He wants to run the football. He really didn;t get along with Favre and since Cutler is turning into a mini-Favre off the field I have a feeling that relationship wouldn’t work either.

Quinn (or Anderson) and Rogers for Cutler?
Trade at #12 for Rogers and keep Cutler. Cutlers arm makes the defense defend the whole field and will allow the Broncos to have an excellent running game.
Quinn reminds me of a pretty-boy Brian Griese, more pin-up material than QB.

Look Closely: this is Rogers + Quinn for Cutler + 3rd round pick
So, we’re not only giving up a pro bowl QB but a draft pick, for what? Brady Quinn and an old fatty? EW EW EW EW EW EW EW. In the words of the immortal Brady Quinn:

I'd rather have Anderson/Rogers than Quinn! Plus, Rogers is NOT worth a #12. 2nd rnder for sure

I've talked with several in here about getting Rogers for draft piicks....he's not happy. Pull the Trigger McD. WE dont have a lot of cash for a #12 anyway, and not likely anyone would trade down with us.

Sorry... no deal
Rogers is a good player, but he has attitude and motivation problems. Brady Quinn has played 1.5 games and his knock is his arm strength. He has not proven he can play effectively at this level.
We have a Pro-Bowl QB that ‘just’ has attitude problems, so no way in hell do we give him up. He has proven he has elite skills, a very rare find. I really do believe that this will all blow over, if not Cutler doesn’t have to report and we can hold him until his contract is up – redeem some signing bonus money. He needs to man up, start being a leader and stop being a baby.
Now Rogers for a 3rd… lock it up!!!

Just too much risk with Rogers (attitude / motivation wise – not skill)

At this point I'd take Brady and their 1st rounder for Cutler.
Brady and Rogers for Cutler and OUR 3rd is a rip off. Brady Quinn is not a proven quantity….screw that deal.
Cutler is being a bit of a head case, so my love for him is evaporating quickly…If this crap isn’t resolved very very soon then I hope Cutler meets 75,000 booooos on opening day.

Without Question
i would do this trade! Jay is no leader, he is a baby, i know everyone loves him on this site and many will get ass hurt about this comment but he is a cry baby, im 21 years old and he acts younger than me. With the mess Shannahan caused, the new coaches have the right to listen to any offer that comes there way that could help the team. There is not one player on this team that is promised to stay in denver for there career. These coaches dont have the relationships Shannahan did and Cutler needs to realize that. In Shaun Rogers we would get a true NT that teams have to game plan around, and with Brady Quinn, well he has more talent than Matt Cassell and McD made him decent enough to win games.
