This was pretty interesting from Scout's Inc. in the Krieger article
Scouts Inc. grades free agents on a scale of 1-100, with 60-69 being an “average starter,” and 50-59 a “good backup.” Eleven of the Broncos’ 12 signees graded out in those two categories. The 12th, Dawkins, graded out in the 70s, as a “good player.”
But thats what we are trying to do....
Get tru this year by putting a competitive defnse on the field.
Those that cant coach, compete!
Failing to plan is planning to fail.

I note that, while Krieger is pointing out that none of the signings were “great” players, he doesn’t provide the rankings for any of the players Denver released or didn’t re-sign. (I can’t find these rankings…if anyone has access to them, I’d love to see them!) At least the players that Denver has signed have produced at some level in the NFL. Seems like many here at MHR have already picked up a trend: sign average, experienced players with GOOD character for the short term, then let the team grow from the draft with those veterans bringing the young players along.
Another issue: did everyone outside of MHR miss the fact that the Dawkins deal is effectively two years, $9 million? If Dawkins lasts longer as a productive player, then the contract is well worth it! If he slides faster than expected…it’s not a big deal.
Here it is, early Friday morning, and I’m already riled up. Going to be a good day. :o)

i hate the Post
and all the “fans” who seem content with writing off McDaniels before he coaches a single game
what a bunch of negative nancys
also
yeah, leach was a great guy who kind of got screwed by the organization but people are acting like he was their favorite player or something
our special teams has been awful, and as a long snapper he is part of that. fan favorite or not, i will loose no sleep over releasing a long snapper/TE. if he’s so good, another team will pick him up. i hardly qualify him as a “great player.”
Well McD is pretty stupid looking with his Beavis-like underbite. Can you blame them?
