Fantasy in the midst of reality
Honestly, I am not in either panic or doom-and-gloom mode. The time has never been better to get top value for Cutler, and while it is likely that we will have to put off our search for a replacement franchise QB until at least next year, there is always rational room for hope: look at what the Patriot Way did for Matt Casell.
I am, however, in what-if mode. Like, what if we stuck with Simms for a year, got two first-day picks in return, and a serviceable backup or a high first-rounder next year? Or, what if we get a package of 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounders and then trade up? It would take Matt Millen to fumble that ball. But all that's being talked to death. Let's try a different approach:
I love Fantasy Football. Some of you are purists and hate it; I won't try to convince you. Those of you who DO love playing it, however, try this poll on for size. I'm only using the top five teams currently (4/1/09) on the front-page poll asking where Cutler will end up, plus one or two scenarios of my own. For simplicity's sake, I have left out obvious three-way trades (i.e., Leinart and the Cards). I will leave it up for a week, after which point I will discuss my take on the results and possibly any reality in the situation which has surfaced in the interim. Have fun!

I voted None Whatsoever...
…I’m done with him. I’ll root against whatever team he is on.

I will root against him as well...
unless he is facing San Diego, Oakland, or Kansas City.

I voted Detroit
You know he would be playing from behind and they have no rushing attack, so he will probably be chucking it 50 times a game.

CBS Sportsline
That’s where I’m at. I’m also in several “home leagues” with guys (and girls) I either live close to now or grew up with. Don’t do ESPN— way too many guys who sign up and then forget they did, meaning they take up valuable space on their roster and in the league for nothing all season long.
It really does add a new dimension to watching football. Just be sure you can keep in mind that football is a team sport first and foremost. That’s what the purists hate about FF— it focuses on stats while largely disregarding the supporting cast.
"3rd and 6, Elway shotgun... Elway, scrambling, looking, running-- DIVING!!!-- inside the 5 yard line for a first down! Is he only 37?! How important is this football game? How bad does John Elway want to win this football game? Where you see the quarterbacks go down: Not Elway!"

We also have an MHR fantasy league
which is pretty popular. Last year was a lot of fun, I don’t remember who won though… I’m not sure the guy posts here anymore…

Amnesty, the idea that you can forgive transgressions against you, gives as much to one side, as it does the other. It has the noble quality of bestowing mercy to both parties.
