Broncos Work Out Texas A&M QB McGee
via a.espncdn.com
Scout.com is reporting that former Texas A&M University quarterback Stephen McGee has a private workout scheduled with the Denver Broncos.
Now that Jay Cutler is out of the picture in Denver, new head coach Josh McDaniels will undoubtedly be in the market for a quarterback in the up-coming draft, most likely in the later rounds.
McGee fits that bill.
The 6′3″ 225 pound McGee only played three games last season for the Aggies as he was derailed with a torn labrum injury to his shoulder. He is extremely athletic, and he showed that at the NFL Scouting Combine by running the 40-yard dash in 4.61 seconds.
McGee will turn 24 in September, and figures to go in the 3rd to 7th round of the up-coming draft.
I think McGee looks like a good prospect for us, other than his recent injury. What would you guys think of him?
This article first appeared on my Broncos blog Broncos Banter, which I would greatly appreciate if you guys would sign up and post some of your stuff on as well. Thanks!

I don't think we need a QB that can play right now,
But I think we should get one in the draft for McDaniels to “work on”

Agreed Sted....I like McGee, Reilly and Nate Davis as project quarter backs.
Those that cant coach, compete!
Failing to plan is planning to fail.

What I intended for this to imply…

Late Round QB would be okay........
McGee was would be great late round pick. Although having had shoulder surgery myself I know that can be a difficult injury to come back completely on. But, then again I’m not 24 either……. I like Reilly and Davis both had a lot of up side, I also like Rhett Bomar (got a raw deal while at Oklahoma) in the late rounds. I think McDaniels would be nuts to go after Sanchez or Freeman early, it would just cost to much in what is essentially a mediocre QB year.

I agree
That it would be foolish to go after a QB in round one or two. We need to upgrade the defense, and if offense is to be the focus in round one, we should go after an elite RB. I like Reilly as well, but am not so sold on Nate Davis. Bomar would also be a great pickup.

His stock is really rising
McGee has gone from a lowround prospect up to the 5th rated behind White and may pass him because of his size, arm strength and 4.6 speed. He now has a solid 3rd round rating. He is very raw because of the option based system he was in and his injured labrum that caused him to miss his senior year. He was an academic all american so he is smart also. He is extemely religious and was voted as the highest character/leader on the team by his teammates. He would be my choice for that 3rd or 4th round pick. Dallas and the Pats are also looking at him. Orton has a 1 yr contract and Simms a 2yr so it is time to groom a new QB

It was an option based system
but he came out of high school as the top passing qb at the time. Peoplke than wondered if he would be able to convert to an option style system, and he did that pretty well. He’s a “gamer” and by that I mean he puts it all out on the field and leaves nothing behind.
