People come in and out of the locker room all the time. Especially for me, I have played with so many different players. You know, for a guy like that to leave, I'm not surprised.
Champ Bailey, when asked about Jay Cutler

I had this in my post too...
Unusual comment for Champ as he is such a mellow well spoken person.
Made me feel that Cutler had lost many in the locker room. and that maybe some players are happy he has gone?
Champ did not seem upset one bit.
Your thoughts TSG???

Thanks UB3 and Montana...
I am glad I was not the only one who felt that.
No love lost I guess.

Whatever he meant
it’s clear, you can’t really say that if you’re talking about a guy who you considered to be your franchise QB.

Consider the context too..
He said that in the same breath that he was saying that no one was talking about guys like Ekuban and Bly,and then immediately said, “a guy like that”.
In other words, Cutler was no more of an issue to him than the other two. I guarantee you that the locker room veterans did NOT consider Cutler to be the franchise….

Thats another great point Styg....
I like that train of thought.
Many here at MHR have been saying that Cutler is not a franchise QB either. Not syaing he will never be one, but he is not even close to being one now.

That's probably the biggest lie I've heard from the MSM about this whole thing yet...
Referring to Jay as our “former franchise quarterback”…
He may be Chicago’s franchise guy, but he was never OUR franchise guy.

I don’t know if that is too accurate. I think he was never McDaniels’ franchise guy but Shanahan was certainly in love with him.

No one is disputing talent...but a Franchsie QB has done a LOT more than JC...
I only consider 3 QB’s franchise standard in my opinion: Brady, Manning and Roethlisberger. Cutler is a QB with huige upside with a losing record.
Shanny’s love for him and his lack of making him responsible is a reason he is gone.

In Response though that he was never OUR franchise guy I disagree. I think he was in the old Shanahan regime. Deservingly so? Debatable…but I think he was their guy.
Still the term Franchise QB is fairly vague anyway. Is their a difference between a Brady and a Cutler…absolutely.

Cutler could have been a better QB than Brady ever dreamed . . .
The difference between the two is between their respective ears. From Ryan Leaf to Jeff George, I have seen superbly talented QBs go down in flames in this league. Not that Cutler is a Leaf or George, but he has not proven he has it together upstairs. Until he does, he will continue to be the best of the second-tier among QBs, and those with less physical talent (e.g., Peyton Manning, Tom Brady) will remain in the “don’t mention him in the same breath” category to Cutler.
