Source: Cutler trade imminent
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/sp...-42337677.html
According to an Examiner source, the Redskins are nearing completion of a trade that would bring Broncos QB Jay Cutler to Washington.
The Redskins are close to completing a deal for Denver quarterback Jay Cutler, according to an NFL source.
The source, who told The Examiner of the Redskins’ interest in Cutler two weeks ago, was uncertain what Washington had to surrender in the deal and said it’s “going down as we speak.” The Redskins have shopped current starter quarterback Jason Campbell.
The source had said in a separate conversation about five minutes earlier that Washington appeared to be bumped from the favorite position in favor of another team, possibly Cleveland. However, after hanging up he quickly called back to say, “It changed.”

Interesting
I honestly thought the Skins didn’t have much to offer. We’ll see if it comes down.

Interesting
I wonder what they are offering?

Well I wish Jay the best and I hope he is successfull there.
Of course this would be the case when we have to play them this season. Pesonally for me that game will be torture and I will not be looking forward to it. Of course we still dont know for sure where he is going until the announcement is made so I guess I better wait and reserve to much judgement till that happens.

Seriously?
Why do you keep “wishing” Jay the best? Let you man-crush go and get angry with this little snot-nosed bastard! You’re not getting any nice guy points with Cutler.

I personally dont care what you think!
I wish Jay the best as one human being to another. If I were you Id be more worried about your own team than what I am saying about mine as you still have as many if not more in your own camp.

I'm not angry
But I sure as hell wouldn’t be kissing this guys ass after the way he acted!

No offense
but nobody in KC would know what to do with a QB of JC’s caliber.
Never been there, never done that.

None taken
But I honestly believe that guys that cause problems like that (I’m looking at you, T.O) aren’t worth it. The team should always come first. Hopefully for you guys, this won’t cause a huge disaster in the locker room, but regardless of the degree there will be some problems. And all that does is hurt the team.

I think loyalty is dead,
or at least on life support. And that goes all ways, player to team, team to player and many fans as well. As has been said so often before here and elsewhere, pro football is a business. For many players the creed is, “get as much money as you can as quickly as you can.” For many teams it has become, “Get as much out of a player for as little money as possible.” For the fan it has become, “Just win baby.”
Guys like Rod Smith are an anachronism and an endangered species.
If this be Hell, let us make the most of it!

I'm with the chief
I don’t wish Cutler well. As one human to another, I hope he does well with his diabetes. As a Denver fan, I don’t care one bit whether he has a great career. Why do I feel he deserves it? Do you also wish for Philip Rivers to have an awesome career? I hope that Chicago gets to see that Jay really isn’t all that much….I bet he can’t beat out Rex for the starting job and then we’ll see who got the sweet deal. I feel like we really pulled a fast one on Chicago…a real pig in a poke.

Exactly
I don’t wish cancer on the kid or anything, but as a player? Have fun in the Windy City, they don’t take well to whiners.

our game with the Skins this year is a road game….

I actually think that Campbell is a good fit for Mcdaniels so I would not be shocked if he was coming back this way at all. Who knows though.
Hopefully the FO is patient and is keeping everyteam up to date as to what they are being offered and the anti keeps going up and up.

so call bowlen and tell him u want to stay if u love your teammates so much

Washington has plenty to trade.
I agree with a comment made by Guru about this recently. He thought Washington would be a potential partner for a trade. Why? Because Snyder doesn’t seem to care about draft picks or money, and throws them both about all of the time.Campbell would be ok, but I would want a slew of draft picks even more.

This bothers me.
To me this means the Cutler and Cook have won. The Broncos have lost.
Jay brings exactly what the Redskins need to be an immediate contender and they have everything the Broncos do not. They have a solid, consistent running game and a defense that will be decent.
I am seriously afraid that the Jay will be able to take the Redskins deep into the playoffs and the Broncos will be scratching their heads next January wondering what the hell happened.
Again…I really hope I’m wrong.

cutler is the looser imo
he and the redskins wont win crap if he goes there. while the denver broncos are going to get back to the superbowl soon. i can just feel it. jay might be getting what he wants right now, but he is gonna regret it when he sees our new QB holding up the Lombardi trophy

How does Cutler and Cook lose?
They got exactly what they wanted.
Cutler would be traded to a team that would have no problem paying him a fortune.
I do like your optimism however.

Jay-C would lose in Football terms
A team in perpetual cap trouble…. A visionless boss who collects yesterday’s stars…. Constant shifting of schemes and chasing of shiny baubles. Football purgatory. A wonderful palce to send him.

jay cutler has the best chance to win a SB right here in denver
but he just wants the $$$$$. washington is always the winner of the offseason, but they dont win when it counts. cutler might get the money, but he is never going to come close to winning a championship.

It bothers me...
That Washington would get their running game and passing game from Denver.
A star QB and a star RB? Just seems wrong.

Zorn will turn Cutler into another Zorn...
a flashy QB who makes dramatic plays but also makes too many mistakes. Jay will be the darling of the media and fantasy players but he will constantly rip the heart out of the fans. He desparately needs discipline which he won’t get.

Let's See...
If the Skins are really interested, they could offer Campbell, give us back Portis and throw in their 1st and 2nd round picks this year and next year.
Makes sense to me, we add Portis to the RB Stable, Campbell to the QB Stable and use two picks this year for defense.

Consider the source....
Nothing against you, Rock34, but the Washington Examiner is barely a real newspaper. In the pantheon of things, you have newspapers of record, then ideological rags with good sports coverage (like the NY Post), then new wingnut publications like the Examiner. Just saying.
That said, man oh man do I hope this report is right. There is nobody better to do business with than Dan Snyder. They could make a real killing on this. At the worst, that loon drives up the price for everybody else. If this report is right, it is excellent, excellent news.

the examiner is actually pretty good when it comes to sports though
having lived and worked in dc, there not the worst there is (see DP)…:) The bottom line is this, if snyder wants jay, snyder will get jay. period.

I do not know how much it is worth
but ESPN just reported the Broncos are making 2 first round picks a starting point. Then, a quarterback is not a necessity in return.
So, Campbell, 2009 First Rounder, and 2010 First Rounder for Cutler?
by broncodude793 on Apr 2, 2009 2:49 PM MDT reply actions 0 recs
If it is
Landry, Campbell, and 2 first rounders for Cutler and maybe a lower guy already on the roster, I say “Where do I sign?”
by broncodude793 on Apr 2, 2009 2:54 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
like you all could get Landry
ha! seems La La Land fever is everywhere.

Unfortuantely
I think you’re right KA1Z3R.
We will be lucky to get 2 #1s period. Anything more than that will be gravy IMO and there is no way they’re giving us Landry.
I remain as hopeful as the next guy that we get some stupid (in a good way) amount of good picks; however, I will believe it when I see it.
by Elway's Ghost on Apr 2, 2009 3:00 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
i don’t expect the Broncos to get Campbell back. I don’t think they want a QB this year at all. Next year is the year for good QBs out of the draft. Look for the broncos to get a ’10 1st no matter the deal.
If it’s the Redskins, I expect ’09 1st, ’10 1st, and a roster player or 2nd rounder.
by thedoctor on Apr 2, 2009 2:54 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
I would take Campbell
he sounded very professional in an interview. He said something along the lines of it doesn’t matter if Cutler is added or not, he is going to be working to start. He will give his all no matter where his is because it is a business and he wants to win.
by broncodude793 on Apr 2, 2009 2:55 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
We need at least another experienced QB just so we can have two QBs on the roster.

by thedoctor on Apr 2, 2009 3:08 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
yes he'll be out of the AFC all together
just wish he could have went to a worse team. Oh well, at least the raiders only face him once this year on a less talented team instead of twice a year on a good team.

I'd take...
#13, #83, Campbell, and next years #1 pick in a heartbeat. I’d prefer a defensive starter over campbell (like Landry), but Campbell would work— it gives us two experienced options at QB this year. Take the best front seven player available and Knowson at 12 and 13, and boom goes the dynamite.

If this pans out
at least he’ll be out of the conference.
I would hate to face him very often (or in the playoffs). Too much on the line for us.

Tired of the term "source"
If it was something more then a rumor, wouldn’t they use the source’s real name. Mcjaygate started with the word source.

Broncos don't want Campbell...
word is that Wash is shopping him around. Why would McD want Campbell. Doesn’t Cassel only have a 1-year deal in KC? McD can either get Cassel or break KC’s bank by forcing them to franchise him again.
by SlowWhiteGuy on Apr 2, 2009 3:22 PM MDT reply actions 0 recs
Buddy in DC told me...
he heard on the radio that a 3-way deal may be going down where Campbell goes to the Jets and we get #1s from both teams…
