Let's go after Sanchez in the draft
Use Orton or Simms for the next one or two years and groom Sanchez. We'll be back in the Superbowl soon. The RB situation may tell how long it takes to get back to the big game. The defensive situation is not as dire as it would seem. We have some great players and will get more in the draft defensively, we just need some leadership there. At WR and TE we're fine. Don't expect anything this year or maybe even next, but in 3 years we should be Super.

No
Orton and Simms can run McD’s offense. We need defense, and maybe an RB.

who do u see as RB?
If Sanchez is there with the pick we acquired from the Bears, I don’t see drafting any other position. It will take 2 – 3 yrs to develop a college draft QB to your offense. If we wait another year or two for a QB in the draft, it will be longer to get to the elite. You do at least agree that Orton and Simms are not the long term solution here? Do you see a low round diamond in the rough at QB? I don’t see a high round RB that will make a difference this year… We all agree on defense and we’ll get someone in with the 12th pick that will be an impact player. Our offensive line is solid and only need a mid to low round pick there.

I don't see McD drafting a QB in the 1st round
ever. It just doesn’t seem to be his MO.
RB is a BIG maybe. We really need some D.

Plus...
I wonder how much it would cost. Why trade picks we acquired getting rid of a QB to be able to draft …a QB. Doesn’t make sense…

Sanchez
is very much a question mark. Plus, I agree we wouldn’t go QB after with the pick we got in exchange for our QB. High profile, 1st round QB doesn’t seem to be McDaniels style anyway.
This is the worst-case scenario.

as much as I LOVE Mark Sanchez' style
I just don’t see it happening…1st round quarterbacks are such a risk, and I think we just drafted this one guy recently in the 1st round…
If I remember right, he turned out to be a wee bit crazy.
Peyton Hillis in '09!
It's simple math, the Denver Broncos will succeed in 2009 with the addition of 20, but minus 6.

And on top of that.
If we drafted him, I’d be forced to call him “Dirty Sanchez” all the time… of course who am I kidding, I’ll be calling him that no matter where he is…

it was his high school name!

Still unconfirmed
that his name wasn’t actually changed from Dirty to Mark…..will try to locate birth cert.
This is the worst-case scenario.

Orton.
We got Orton even though we didn’t have to. We could have asked for a second round pick either this year or next and gone elsewhere for a QB, but we didn’t. McD signed off on Orton and Simms, so they’ll be the guys in 2009. Our defense needs much more help and deserves our top picks focus.

Tempting, but no
I think this team’s defense is so bad it will be at least a couple years, even had Cutler stayed, before a Superbowl would be in reach. I would use the draft picks on as many defensive weapons as possible, and use Orton or Simms for the time being.
To run the Patriots offense you do not need all of the tools Cutler brings to the table, heck Brady doesn’t have all of the physical talent that Cutler does, but he does just fine in that offense. With all the weapons we have at receiver and if we can keep a running back healthy, I think either Simms or Orton can run this offense and produce very big numbers.

NOOOOO!!!
McD doesn’t want a hot shot first round QB. He turned Cassell into a LEGIT QB, he can do the same with Orton or Simms. The first round will go to a DE or DT and a LB.
Look where McD came from. All of their first round picks were spent on O and D line guys, that is where it starts, that is where a quality football team is built from.
Get it out of your head. While McD is at the helm, we will never go after a 1st round QB.

I wouldn't say never
But not this year I don’t think. Go defense this year and give Simms and Orton a season to see what they can do and what McD can do with them. If there’s still a problem at QB next season, we have two #1s to get on Bradford or another QB.
She turned me into a newt .... I got better.
