"Experts"
We all talk about how these NFL "Experts" don't really know what they are talking about and how they all have lost their credibility. I was wondering if there are ANY besisdes Adam Schefter, whom I assume most of us trust and respect even though he is going to ESPN. So i made a poll of some of the most notable experts to see who we here at Mile High Report trust the most.

Basesball is just a game-RIP Nick Adenhart
They are grooming Steve W to take over from Shefter...
I think the guy that knows the most and keeps it real is Pat Kirwan. Add him if you could.

All I want is 53 Rod Smiths. Is that asking too much????
+1
I agree, Pat seems to keep things to the point without an over abundance of emotion. More facts based reporting. I like John Clayton some as well, but I can’t believe the majority as I post this is for Mike Mayock. I have never figured him out.
In my opinion,
Todd McShay is the one from Scouts, Inc. that has some thought and a bit of validity.
I tend to put some faith in Mayock
Although I think he may be getting too close to some of the prospects now to give a truly unbiased opinion. But I think he is generally right more than wrong, McShay is pretty good also, but I can’t stand Kiper (giant douche) and since they usally have McShay on with Kiper, I don’t watch as much of him.

How about, Guru, Styg, Hoosier Teacher, NYC, Ted, Zappa and of course the bombastic Bear!
MHR is all you need, the rest is just noise!
Moreno in '09!
I thought about doing that but
They would win in a landslide so I decided against it. We all know they are the best.:)

I voted for McShay
I think he really knows more then the other guys. Plus, he doesn’t seem to take the “expert” label very serious at all. Also, boydy mentioned Pat Kirwan. I really like him too. I love to listen to him and Tim Ryan on “Moving The Chains” on NFL Radio. They are very educational and yes, Kirwan definitely keeps it real. And he is an ex-GM. The dude knows his stuff. I think I may like him better than McShay actually.
Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup. They slither wildly as they slip away across the universe. Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind. Possessing me and caressing me. - The Beatles
It's amazing how much The Beatles knew about MHR before MHR existed.
Mayock
though this year he’s really been all about us moving up to get a QB.

the facade
I’m glad to see nobody has voted for Dukes. Yesterday, he was pontificating over the blog’s lack of accountability regarding the earlier erroneous reports of failed drug tests. It was a moment of supreme irony.
It’s far too easy to point out the massive flaws in ‘sports journalism.’ And it’s far too easy to prick holes in the facade of seriousness that ex-jocks hide behind when they posture about the accountability that supposedly reins them in which bloggers lack — again, supposedly.
This is not a defense of my role or anyone else’s here, I feel no urge to become defensive. My feelings are quite the opposite. There’s a sense of mild revulsion I get whenever I hear a talking head such a Dukes cite the mythic storyline about accountability ensuring the accuracy of MSM reporting. Hearing this storyline again — especially coming from Dukes — only adds to surreal nature of the facade.
‘Normal’ journalists take steps to ensure that what they report is true. This is partly because there are laws against libel, slander and defamation, and these laws — which vary somewhat by jurisdiction — place a positive burden on a reporter to have taken adequate steps to vet a story and its sources. It’s not enough to proclaim that you didn’t know a story was false, it’s your responsibility as a journalist to ensure that the story is true. Moreover, repeating the rumors that other media report as if it’s news is not an excuse, since due diligence is still your own burden. Even though these standards are taught to all journalism students, sports journalism is a bit of a misnomer. The talking heads on the NFL channel, etc., routinely break the law and commit ethical lapses, but this has become a standard practice within sports journalism.
Adam Schein
I think he dropped the ball on the Cutler story when it started (as did most pundits). On the other hand, I’ve talked with him a few times and found him to be a good guy. One thing he does that a lot of other “experts” don’t do is admit when he doesn’t know something. His call in show on Sirius NFL Radio doesn’t talk down to callers, and he’s friendly and sharp. He speaks to level that the caller understands.
In other words, he isn’t full of himself. That goes a long ways towards making a postive impact with me.
