Donald Wahington, CB for Chiefs
Regarded as one of the best pure athletes ever recruited by coach Jim Tressel, off-field issues and problems with the coaching staff, along with inconsistent play, prevented the talented athlete from realizing his potential.

More on Washington
His career never matched his athletic talent. There were flashes of brilliance, including 100 yards gained on three fumble recoveries and 104 yards gained on two interception returns. But in 37 games that included 24 starts, his great leaping ability was rarely on display, as he managed to deflect just four passes
And we got Alphonso. Hmmm… No contest.
Hillis/Moreno in '09
Huh...
This sounds like a Shanny pick. Take the guy with the hopes that you’ll be able to turn his character issues around and coach him into being a solid, loyal player that realises his potential.
For his sake, I hope the Chiefs have good coaches.
For the Broncos’ sake, I hope they don’t.

Have the same problem
SDTF’s suggestion is exactly what I have to do to fix it. It’s probably the scripts in the page that control the instant updates. Your other option might be to turn off that feature, but then you’d have to continually refresh to see new comments…

Agreed
I like Tyson Jackson well enough but at #3 he seemed a reach. I wondered why they didn’t try to trade down a bit to get an extra pick and still end up with him anyway… or why they didn’t take the more sure thing in Aaron Curry. The next pick wasn’t too impressive to me either.
But at least they’re not the Raiders! See repost of quote from Don Banks below…
I bet Pioli is underwhelmed as well
and probably hated having to go that high on Jackson but couldn’t trade outta the 3 spot.

here's what nfl.com had on him
Analysis
Positives: Good quickness off the snap. … Wide set and has good lateral agility and balance to compete with athletic defensive tackles in pass protection. … Quick first step to pop the defensive tackle and release to the second level for combo blocks and on pulling plays. … Good vision to locate the secondary block and is athletic enough to hit the moving target.
Negatives: Raw. … Was getting by on his athleticism at the college level. … Marginal upper-body strength and hand placement. … Struggles to sustain blocks. … A bit high in pass protection and can be bull-rushed into the pocket.
Injury Report
2009: Suffered a right quad strain on his first 40-yard dash at the Combine, keeping him out of the remainder of the workouts.

Don Banks on Raiders
Sarcasm anyone?
If you’re the Oakland Raiders, it must be so frustrating to know you’re the smartest team in the league, but not have your won-loss record show it. Other than having an undeserved superiority complex, how else do you explain taking the less than polished Darrius Heyward-Bey at No. 7, a good 20 spots or so higher than most clubs had him rated?
Heh.

Stiff in the hips, mostly a SS in the box. Does McD not like Barrett, or just think that he’s not going to be ready right away?

We have D line help
Ayers is the best D line guy in the draft, and we’ve got Powell (our 1st pick in this draft, as it were), Thomas, Reid, etc. I think that McD just likes Fields and Parker. We’ll see
Hillis/Moreno in '09
Remaining DTs
include:
Ricky Jean-Francois DT LSU
Terrance Taylor DT MICHIGAN
Myron Pryor DT KENTUCKY
Vance Walker DT GA TECH
Khalif Mitchell DT E CAROLINA
Darryl Richard DT GA TECH
....Hill is gone.
There’s still Darryl Richard. There’s still Darryl Richard. There’s still Darryl Richard. Breathe. We’d better have a decent D-line next year.

From ESPN
Bruton impressed as a run defender in Notre Dame’s early-season win over Michigan, showing speed, range and willingness in run support and sound open-field tackling. The concern for Bruton is his inconsistent footwork in coverage. He is not fluid and takes choppy steps when gearing down to change directions, raising questions about his ability to match up with slot receivers at the next level. Bruton would fit best on a team that plays a lot of zone coverage and asks its safeties to play a big role in run support.
Mayock likes our picks...
…and Dukes hate’s ‘em. I like where we’re at.

Yeah
But we’ve already tagged 3. Another one couldn’t hurt. I’m just considering alternative options if they (yet again) don’t take a DL.
Ricky J-F
was my 4th round pick in my 7 round mock. He’s who I’m targeting, although Taylor is good too.

I'm a bit behind...
…is Chris Baker from Hampton still on the board?
Is Barrett going to be traded?
I hope not because of his potential, but there is usually not roster space for 5 or 6 Safeties.
I agree, Larsen shouldn’t get any bigger. I am getting tired of his bone crushing hits knocking the pixels off my TV, once they fall to the floor they are very hard to find.
maybe their goal is...
to end up with the worst record next year, but to not have to worry about 1st overall money (since we traded it away)
Darryl Richard doesn't sound bad
It would go along with the other picks McD has made, going for locker room leaders…
Analysis:
Positives: Strong interior presence who plays with low pad level and a sturdy anchor. … Holds his ground very well against double-team blocks inside. … Moves down the line when engaged. … Gives up his body to maintain the gap, is able to push two blockers on twists. … Willing to pursue plays down the line and downfield. … Flashes the upper-body strength and hands to rip across his man to beat him. … Recognizes screens when let go. … Intelligent player and a leader in the locker room.
Negatives: Lacks elite explosiveness and chasing speed. … Rarely collapses the pocket using a bull rush. … Takes advantage of Tech’s aggressive, one-gap system but usually shows only moderate initial quickness off the snap. … Will stand up and hesitate after initial move, possibly due to poor stamina. … Lateral movement in space is extremely limited.
"according to the map, we've only gone 4 inches"
At 6'3", 303 Richard could add more weight to his frame most likely

Missing McGee
I loved loved loved McGee, but accepted that we weren’t going to get him after we traded away our third round picks? Jaws loves Mike Reilly, maybe a 7th round pick?
SD grabbed him
just because they need a NT backup to old Jamal.
