DE Rulon Davis
Of all the CFA signings, I like this one the most. I'm kinda surprised nobody is talking about him.
It's likely that he didn't get drafted because of his lack of college experience, or maybe his injury history. But the Broncos and McXaniels didn't care, because he fits the mold of all the players they drafted: tough, smart, versatile, good person, loves football.
The dude is a warrior. You may or may not already know that he is an ex-marine who served in Iraq. He's got the battle scars to prove it. He also survived a near-fatal motorcycle crash. This guy knows about pain and survival. I don't think he will be phased by something like mini-camps.
In the games he played in at Cal University, he was a force, racking up tackles, sacks and turnovers quickly, but he was battling injuries the whole way, which pretty much shot any hope of him being drafted.
I think Davis has a great chance of catching on with the Broncos. Hopefully his injury history is just a string of bad luck, and he can make the cut this year. To me he looks like a potential steal, and if he is given enough time to develop, could become an absolute beast of a defensive end. He certainly is smart enough, and I don't think anyone would question his toughness.

Any guy who went to war is the kind of guy I want on the football field.
Not only is he going to be tough, but he has had a regular dose of perspective during his tour in Iraq that will benefit the team as a whole.
Verbose in style, dispersion of thought, procrastination in life.

It's the Mike Anderson factor...
good head on their shoudlers
Beware the wrath of a patient adversary.
John C. Calhoun --
Not to mention the fact he was named after Rulon Jones
I wonder if his parents are Bronco Fans or from Utah.
Guardian of the Gate to La La Land!
Little, Wright, Atwater, Davis, and Sharpe...
Why are they not in the Hall...I just don't understand.
Hmm.. Somebody better make that man a Wikipedia page!
I like this pickup a lot. Soundls like a guy with the size and mindset to compete for a DE position.
Side note: I officially pick Nic Clemons as my dark horse for this season. I think he’ll surprise people in camp, and get a lot of playing time in the regular season.
WE GOT MORENO!!!!
nice call papi

Rulon Davis
Nice post and definitely the sort of all effort player we want and need. Don’t know much about him to be honest – college games are a bit of a rarity here in Britain – but any kid named after good ol’#75 is fine by me! Still remember his safety in the Divisionals against New England in 1985 (?). Funnily enough, I’d read his bio on Saturday night, and the only knock on him was his perceived lack of speed, so if your info is accurate about his string of injuries, if we can address that, we might get ourselves a player. As for the other UDFAs, I was hoping we could have grabbed Mitch King (Titans), Frantz Joseph(Raiders, boo!), Darry Beckwith (Chargers, damn!) and Vince Anderson (Giants), but the opinion seems fairly positive on who all we snapped up. Competition at every position is clearly what McD is after. Nice post.
Stoked about Rulon
I read his profile over at YahooSports and was hoping the Broncos might pick him up. I think probably his character/toughness was a huge factor in why he was signed, because it looks like McDaniels has the character of his players as a prerequisite before he evaluates their talent, which I respect a great deal. It also makes me think he has a great chance to make the team as a backup DE. If so, he’ll bring a great deal of toughness/warrior mentality, which our D definitely could use. I mean, the guy was run over by a semi. Nuff said.

Ya gotta root for the Guy
for all the reasons above. If he makes the team, it will be an improvement.
Nice pick up.
My Dad told me about the 4 seasons:
Pre-season
Regular-season
Post-season
Off-season
Cal University
Just a small technicality, but there is no Cal University. Cal = University of California, specifically the one located in Berkeley.
