Wow.
Schweiger (6-foot-5, 276 pounds)
That is one big dude for a LB.

I'll say.
Developmental ILB or do they move him to DE?
If he can move it would be nice to have him inside versus the run.

I think they just put spikes on his shoulder pads,
add a bunch of eye black, and let him look menacing on the sidelines.

Then he would just belong
with the rest of the fans in the Black Hole.
If we could have just screwed another head on his shoulders, he would have been the greatest QB who ever lived.

Hit enter before I added
I concur with your latter statement: if he can move a bit and can use his size and (assumed) strength to shed blocks, I’d like to see him in the middle.

Sounds like a DE
Play him at DE and then move ayers to the edge….or vice versa if this fellow is fast enough.

Agreed papigrande
sometimes, when something works it just works. leave it how it is. I, for one am incredibly impressed with our defenses production in 2008.

Braxton, Rulon...
we just need to sign some dude named Mecklenburg Smith and we’ll be on our way to an old-timey defense!

Jeff Schweiger
Jeff Schweiger was the #9 overall H.S. player in America his Senior year. Guess he didn’t quite live up to expectations. Hope he can realize some of that potential. He certainly has the athleticism.

Braxton Kelley info
Strengths: Is quick and active. Can play both the weakside and middle linebacker positions. Shows good lateral movement, but is at his best attacking the line of scrimmage. Has good instincts in zone coverage. Is good at finding his way to the ball and tackling.
Weaknesses: Is undersized. Needs to add bulk to take on bigger blockers. Sometimes struggles to disengage once a blocker locks on him. Struggles to match up against speedy backs and will struggle to cover in man-to-man.
Bottom line: Kelley was one of the most consistent and solid defenders for the Kentucky defense since he arrived in 2005. He always seems to be around the ball and loves to attack the line of scrimmage to stop the run. Doubts about Kelley’s size and speed should prevent him from being drafted, but he is worth a look as a free agent.

I heard Jeff Schweiger's story.
I only remember parts of the story, so sorry if it sounds fragmented but I don’t want to give wrong information. He spoke at a Men’s Purity conference at Calvary Chapel in san jose, he said that he had fallen into drugs and such when he had gone to USC, so that’s probably why he didn’t live up to expectations, but then he ended up becoming a Christian and he decided to play football at san jose. I believe the broncos got a great character guy with this, and I think he could be a lot better than everyone thinks.

Anyone know who ere the two they cut? I hadn’t heard their names before unless they were just brought in or were on the taxi squad.
