MHR Community Mock Draft Pick #25

With the #25 pick in the 2009 MHR Community Mock Draft, the Miami Dolphins select.... CB, SEAN SMITH, UTAH

Miami Dolphins
Round 1, Pick #25 overall GM adamriggs
|
Details of the pick after the jump...
From GM adamriggs: There are a few players that are still on the board that could help the Dolphins out. However, with the departure of starting CB Andre Goodman to the Broncos, there is a big hole at the CB position. Also, at the end of this season, three more CBs will be unrestricted FA. There are a lot of people that believe Sean Smith could be the best CB to come out in this draft and the fact that he is available with the 25th pick makes this a no-brainer for me.
As our own TedBartlett905 said concerning Smith, “The best CB prospect, even if most people aren't hip to it yet. I am personally certain of this, so write it down, and call me on it later, if I am wrong. You don't find 6'3", 215-pound, fast, fluid guys who are strong and have great ball skills too often.” I find it interesting that Smith went to Utah as a running back, got moved to wide receiver, and finally moved to cornerback. This shows he has some versatility and will be able to adapt to anything the League throws at him.
Commish's Thoughts: Smith is pretty much guaranteed to come into the game with a chip on his shoulder, after being overlooked for the bigger schools, and then slipping in as an afterthought for many scouting programs. Never underestimate what that kind of a chip can do for someone's play, and when it is coupled with Smith's speed, and rare size, it could be a top-notch combination in the NFL.

I voted good pick but I have a hard time thinking that the Dolphins would pass on
Jackson if he is available, you know the Tuna loves linemen.

You have a point.
I just see such a huge upheaval with their CBs that they are going to have to attack that position through the draft and FA next year. Since I am a BYU fan, I have seen Smith up close and personal too many times. He is flat out sick. I am glad he left a year early!
I agree, Smith is likely the best CB in this year's draft, he did great all year and showed he could
play shutting down Bama’s big time WR (Julio?), wouldn’t surprise me if the Dolphines got him, it is just I think the Tuna hates picking skill players in the 1st round.

What's funny is that I could see the Ravens taking him with the next pick
so good pick….

Likes guys out of the Big Ten (10 of his last 19 1st round selections were from outta that conference)
Which narrows it down to
Robiskie, V.Davis
Vontae Davis, Probably who they select since they’re cb play is very average

Best CB in the draft
This kid is going to be special. He’s the top rated CB on my board.
Rays in '08.... Desmond Jennings - the breakout continues.....
I don't want to jinx my pick (Eagles)
but I can’t believe who’s fallen this far down the draft board….
