MHR Community Mock Draft Pick #27

With the #27 pick in the 2009 MHR Community Mock Draft, the Indianapolis Colts select....

DT, EVANDER HOOD, MISSOURI

Indianapolis Colts

Round 1, Pick #27 overall

GM chikndnnr

Details of the pick after the jump...

Star-divide

Perfect fit.

From GM chikndnnr:  DT is obvious need for this team. The Ole Miss defensive tackle, Jerry, would have been my pick but there's a chance the colts will be better off w/hood anyways. Wide receiver was an option and heyward-bey would have been the one. Assuming the colts are going to continue running the tampa defense, ziggy should be a nice fit as gap penetrator. A poor man's Sapp. I think this is a good pick for the colts, but who really cares- it's the colts.GO BRONCOS!

Commish's Thoughts:  You can't reall go wrong here.  Hood is ideally suited to a 4-3 defense, and even better suited to Indy's particualr flavor of 4-3.  If you spend any time at all over at Stampede Blue, you know that the Indy fanbase has broken Ziggy down pretty good, and would dig the pick if that is how it turns out.

ON THE CLOCK

Philadelphia Eagles (via Carolina Panthers) are up next.  The Eagles already nabbed a nice target for McNabb, in WR Hakeem Nicks, so where will they look with their second pick??

The deadline for this pick is NOON MST, April 10th.  As long as I receive the pick by that time it will be valid.  To send me the pick, just email me at the address shown in my profile.

ehhhhh

This is a pretty big reach, could probably trade down to mid 2nd-round and still get him.

see broncobear down below

Hood is the 3rd DT off the board most of the places I’ve looked now. He’s a perfect fit for what Indy needs and in my opinion a value pick for Indy here (especially with guys like Knowshon, Petrigrew, Nicks, Laurinatis and Harvin who could be argued as more of a BPA off the board).

I got Summer hatin' on me cuz I'm hotter than the sun. Spring hatin' on me cuz I ain't never sprung
Winter hatin' on me cuz I'm colder than Y'all. And I will never, I will never, I will never Fall.

Have to, right?

Pretty huge value at this point and that’s a clear need.

I would hope they take Wells (for the Titans sake)

I've seen Hood listed from upper 1st to mid/lower second, but mostly upper 2nd

That isn’t far off from this pick, and I can see why you’d love the player, so I like it. Nice going

who's not here

No complaints. If I was Xanders and McDaniels I’d be on the phone making a trade for the next pick so I could draft Tyson Jackson.
