According to the Twitter account of agent Drew Rosenhaus, running back Darius Walker has signed a two-year deal with the Denver Broncos.
Walker, a former Notre Dame tailback who was undrafted upon leaving school a year early, played for the Texans in 2007, and bounced on and off the team’s roster in 2008.
In Denver, Walker joins a very crowded house at the running back position.

Another back....
This is slightly absurd. I understand the whole as much competition as possible and let the best rise to the top…but is there even enough field time for each back to even get in a rhythm.

as to why this happened? also if you sign a player but then cut him before the season starts do you owe him anything?

It all depends on the kind of contract that is signed.
Much more often than not, for a guy like this, it would be a non-issue as the better majority of folks are not eligible for any kind of guaranteed contract.

reason..
one reason it happens is that we only have a couple backs that are healthy and able to practice currently
