Brandon Marshall stays away from Mini-Camp
We all know Marshall is unhappy with his contract, and the Post says Marshall has little confidence in the Broncos' medical staff, whom he blames for misdiagnosing the hip injury last season.
I talked about the Marshall situation last night on MHR Radio, and believe staying away is a mistake. Marshall already has a cloud around him off the field, fair or not, and bringing that cloud on the field as well in the form of a holdout is not good business sense, at least in my opinion.
UPDATE(11:23 am MST) -- CBS4 is reporting that Marshall is in Denver and is scheduled to meet with Broncos Owner Pat Bowlen later today....More to come

Don't see how the Broncos could even consider extending him now.
I guess he wants out. There is no other explanation.

I don't think he wants out...
he’s just unhappy with his contract. Are the Broncos supposed to trade every player who asks for a new contract? Trading Brandon would create even more instability and more drama. I think that is the last thing that this organization and fan base needs.

Horrible timing.
You’ve got an obvious attempt to change the culture of the locker room. Brandon Marshall has now decided to buck that by asking for more money when its not reasonable to expect it— he’s still facing a possible suspension, he hasn’t showed that he can be durable and he has not proved that he can excell in the new scheme. To me, the horrible timing of this move would be obvious to a brain injured monkey. Thus, I can only conclude that the only thing Brandon Marshall can be thinking is that any outcome is acceptable to him, including a departure from Denver. In fact, a reasonable man might expect this move to end his Denver career. I think Brandon Marshall is a reasonable man.
If he’s counting on the new regime to somehow be swayed by avoiding another PR disaster, he’s clearly barking up the wrong tree. I wouldn’t be happy about it (another trade), but I’d sure understand it.

indeed
he’s got absolutely zero leverage. he needs to shut up, be a good soldier, and show he deserves a new contract. he has not shown he deserves it yet, and the broncos are at 0 risk of losing him to FA.
Marshall, stfu and get to Denver, kthx! :)
by thedoctor on Jun 12, 2009 10:33 AM MDT up reply actions 1 recs
True
And Cutler had even less leverage but the precedence was set that an disgruntled player could force his way to the team he wanted to go to. The Cutler situation opened the door to this kind of action. Previous regime had 1 hold out in ten years or so.
Time for McD and company to show they learned from their 1st go around and get him to camp.

The Previous Regime
also brought in some very squirmy individuals which is why McDaniels has to clean house of people that think it is the same old Country Club where the players run the organization.
Brandon is getting very poor advice. He needs to be quiet for now, clear his reputation and then get the big payday. Pat Bowlen has stuck by him despite the headaches he has caused. Yes he is talented, very talented but he also needs to make better more mature decisions. He needs to buddy up to Brian Dawkins so he can get it.
I would hate to lose him. But if he wants out if he doesn’t get paid now, we need to trade him for another player that can help us out right now.

Don't Agree
I respectfully disagree significantly with the suggestion that “the players ran the organization” under Mike Shanahan.
Yes, there were some marginal individuals brought in under Shanahan, but many organizations have done that, including the currently in vogue Boston Patriots. Corey Dillon was no angel or team player in Cincinnati and Randy Moss had his share of egocentrism in Minnesota and Oakland. Lawyer Malloy made a pest out of himself in Boston before he was traded as was their WR, who I am forgetting at the moment.
Shanahan did not have many holdouts, disgruntled players or much whining about contracts.
Frankly, t think that is piling on to call a coaching administration that was quite successful (2 Super Bowls) and had a lot of winning years as fostering a country club atmosphere. Shanahan’s major problem was that the fan base and ownership wouldn’t let him do rebuilding.
by Baltimore Bronco on Jun 12, 2009 3:16 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
I Think Evidence is Pointing to the Contrary
When you start to add up all the individual issues that players have had over the last few years I can’t ignore the pattern.
Yes the Patriots brought in the several players that you suggested but after having built a team of players with a certain attitude knowing that by sheer numbers they would keep the new arrivals in line.
When I look at the Broncos over the last few seasons I don’t see the players who were going to keep the new arrivals in line. I see the Champ Baileys being outnumbered.
I think this is just more symptoms playing themselves out. Don’t get me wrong, I love Shanahan but it is what it is.
Tis better not to throw it to the deep receiver but the open receiver.

Your funny
Brandon Marshall hasn’t shown he can be durable? Your joking right. Has the guy missed any games for a medical reason? The answer is No. He is very Durable and showed that playing through a bad hip injury almost all season and still caught 100+ balls. I do think he should have showed up but even if he was there he could not do anything. I have faith that this will be resolved by training camp
You are all crazy to say trade BM. He is by far the most talented and best player on our team. He is also our biggist playmaker. That trade would hurt us more then the Culter trade.

I do think that we shouldn't trade Brandon Marshall, but I don't think everyone is crazy for wanting to do so.
I think that if we do trade BM, then it was for the best. Plus, if we do trade him, then we should get Boldin.

I never said trade him.
I said I’d understand. I don’t think its too much to ask that you wade through a couple sentences before you open up on somebody. Its not like my simple comment was War and Peace or something.
He’s bucking the program. He’s ripping the Broncos publically. He’s asking the team to make a committment that no reasonable team would make. He was invisible last year when the team needed him most, and HE said it was because of injury…the same excuse he used when he was missing late in 2007.

I did read the whole article
and Saying they would be Better off without him is pretty much the same thing as saying trade him. Also you cannot question someone durablity until they actually miss a regular season game due to injury which has never happened with BM. Who cares if the misses time in the offseason because of injury. All that matters is if he plays on game day.
“He was invisible last year when the team needed him most” Dude the whole team was invisible last year when it mattered most. BM was doubled or triple almost every game and cutler would try to sling balls in there. His so called disappearing had more to do with a QB that could not make progressions and locked in on him nonstop

I'm not disputing Marshall as a player.
Nor am I advocating a trade. My point was that this is a not a really smart time to do this if his priority is to be part of the Denver Broncos. I mean, does anything defy the team first principle more than doing this right now, especially considering the amount of drama this franchise has already faced this offseason? It seems like a clear rejection of the message McDaniels has clearly delivered.

Hold on a sec. Boldin is no better than Marshall when it comes to contracts.
Do we really think that Eddie Royal is ready to become a number 1 receiver? We need to keep Brandon…or else I’ll have to buy a new Broncos jersey…lol. But I don’t want to keep him just because I have his jersey. Think about this team without Brandon Marshall. He fights for every yard. Plus I don’t think he’ll have any more off-field issues.

He does fight for every yard; however, he really needs to improve his ‘yards ran’ to ‘yards gained’ ratio. The guy runs twenty yards for every five that he gains. He’s hurt, he’s one stupid move away from a lengthy suspension, he fumbles, and apparently doesn’t care to be a Bronco. Boldin Please!

Boldin is joke and huge crybaby
He is no where near as good of a WR as Marshall and he is crying about his contract down in Arizona too. So lets trade a top 3 WR for someone that bitches to the media about a contract non stop and really is not a team player everyone thinks he is. Remeber Boldin was pissed last year when Fitz was getting all the balls in the playoffs. Boldin is not a team player.

Not concerned at this point...
I wish I could say I was surprised, but I’m not. Brandon will likely learn the hard way that the new regime isn’t going to be bullied. Also, Brandon needs to realize that thanks to his off the field issues… he’s considered a liability in terms of a long term mega-huge contract.
Does he deserve it based on his production? Most certainly… and eventually, he should get it. I think he needs an incentive based deal with outs for the team if he can’t stay out of the back of a police car.
Best luck in rehab and get your 100+ receiving a$$ in Denver…

Cutler had no leverage with which to bully us. We shipped him out on our own terms, before he caused serious damage (i.e., refusing to attend training camp, games, etc.), and for a boatload of compensation.
No way were we bullied.

but everyone was acting like I was making things up when I said he was demanding a new contract. The fact is BM is a troubled young man and the Broncos in the end will be better off without him. I just hope they can get good value for him, be it a stong WR or a few draft picks. Wouldn’t it be wild if we could trade him to the Giants for Hixon (I loved the guy as a Bronco and as a Giant). We don’t need the drama of an “elite” WR. We need men focused on the game and not themselves.

really Better off without BM
That is the most crazy thing I have ever heard. There is no way we would be better off by trading our BIGGEST playmaker. Losing BM would be just as big as a blow if not a bigger blow as losing Cutler.
I love the overreacting on this site. The same stuff that happened with cutler. A player does something a Fan does not like and they flip out even when they do not know the whole story.

Am I the only one seeing the irony?
Please take this in the least condescending, most charitable tone possible:
I find it awkward to hear you calling the rest of this message board out on “overreacting”, when a look at the preceding conversations has indicated quite clearly that if anyone has the strongest emotions and the strongest language regarding this issue, it is you.
Saying that the Broncos are better off w/o BM may be incorrect, but “overreacting” seems to me to quite clearly imply an excess of emotional response in proportion to the issue. I only see that from you, so far.
Again, just my opinion, may be wrong, and please take it as constructive criticism.

hes right when he says we dont know the whole story and that thinking the broncos are better off without BM than with him is crazy talk. the dude is 24 and already a top 10 WR. Royal is not ready to be a #1 receiver.
by purplesocks on Jun 12, 2009 1:48 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
Perhaps we're tangled in semantics
The way I understand the both dictionary definition and general-use meaning of the word, “overreacting” is quite heavily weighted on the emotion side of the reason-emotion continuum. So, you say that person X is being “irrational” because they have too little reason to their response(s), but you say that X is “overreacting” because they have too much emotion to their response(s) (and to head off an objection, no, an excess of emotion does not necessarily imply a dearth of reason).
So, when you say that you don’t think gnarly is overreacting because he’s “right”, you imply that you are (mis?)interpreting “overreacting” as meaning “has jumped to the wrong conclusion”, when I mean it as “has allowed their emotions to carry them too far away from reasonable discourse”
"3rd and 6, Elway shotgun... Elway, scrambling, looking, running-- DIVING!!!-- inside the 5 yard line for a first down! Is he only 37?! How important is this football game? How bad does John Elway want to win this football game? Where you see the quarterbacks go down: Not Elway!"
by Sharpe as a Tack on Jun 12, 2009 2:03 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
By that understanding, I see more "overreacting" on gnarly's side rather than the community he is calling out for that infraction
With one or two possible exceptions. Still, when you are calling out an entire community (as gnarly did by referencing “this site” as a whole), one or two exceptions do not help your cause.

Value?
If the Cardinals cannot get value for Bolding and the Browns cannot get value for Edwards, what makes anyone think that they will get value for an injured reciever who thinks 2.1 million is not enough incentive to show up for rehab and meetings?
No one is rushing to sign Buress either. There is not a market out there for teams waiting to throw money at wide recievers. BM needs to be here and have a good year showing he is fully recovered from the hip surgery before he starts making contract demands.
I don’t see many options other than fine him and turn attention to the guys that are here and playing. Everyone was moaning about what would we do for recievers prior to the Raider game last year and I seem to remember that the situation worked out pretty well.

Let the dust settle.........
It is unfortunate…however, this is THREE day mini-camp. Marshall was not going to participate other than meeting time. And his rehab has been proceeding outside of Broncoland. This is not a big issue until Training Camp rolls around.
To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also DREAM; not only plan, but also BELIEVE.

Couldn't disagree more,
this is a huge issue. Even if BMarsh plays for the Broncos this season, the Broncos are trying to implement one of the most complicated offensive systems in the league and our top WR doesn’t think it’s necessary to participate. I understand that he wouldn’t be on the field anyway, but he should be there watching, learning, and taking coaching.

Why?
Did he hurt his brain? :-)
On a more serious note, I guess he/his agent are trying to send a message, but it is a smaller deal (both in terms of the effect on the team and the fines he’ll get) than a training camp holdout.
Hopefully this doesn’t escalate and it gets resolved long before then…

To me, this is a big deal...
When you work for an employer and they say you must be at a meeting because it’s mandatory, you go or you get reprimanded or fired. While I understand his injury, the three-day camp is mandatory. I totally think he should be there with his team, meeting the rookies, getting to know the playbook and proving to coaches he’s worth a long-term contract. It sort of pisses me off that some of these guys think they’re bigger than the team. I think mgmt. has shown that is not the case. That sort of primadonna attitude is long gone. If Marshall isn’t willing to put the team above himself then good riddance. I’ll take Boldin right now for Marshall, and give Boldin a long-term deal. Let’s see, he’s been to a Super Bowl, plays for his teammates, has no trouble with the law, and is an all-around good guy. Hmmm, sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
BMarshall, get your tail to camp, get better, prove that you’re worth a big-time contract and let’s play some ball in 6 weeks and kick some tail in the regular season!

Yep
This guy is dreaming if he thinks this is going to end well in his favor. The off the field issues are a huge red flag and the Broncs aren’t going to pay him what he wants. I mean this is a guy who is one parking ticket away from a year-long suspension…

Contract Issues
This makes no sense to me. Unless he suffers some serious catastrophe Marshall is all but guaranteed a huge contract in the very near future.
So maybe he wants to hedge against this but why not go to camp? I am hoping this is more of his concern about his injury and the Bronco medical staff than anything else but dammit…

Quick Clarification....
The situation is being hugely affected by the possibility of an uncapped year. Marshall is going into his 4th season. Under this CBA, he can become a UFA after this season. Problem is, the CBA expires, and stipulations under a possible uncapped season are that the service time to become Unrestricted goes from 4 years to 6 years.
Obviously, that would be a huge hit to Marshall. Alot of these guys are playing Russian roulette a bit(I think Vince Wilfork is in the same boat)….

..but at least Wilfork showed up.
Vince Wilfork reported to the Patriots mandatory minicamp Wednesday because his contract requires it.
He’d still like a new one.
Wilfork, one of the NFL’s best nose tackles, practiced on the first day of New England’s three-day minicamp after skipping all 12 voluntary organized team activities in May and June.
“I signed to a six-year deal. I’m going to meet all my obligations and that’s being here on mandatory stuff,” he said. “I’m still a Patriot and I want to be a Patriot.”

But, the meeting you mentioned could be promising. Hopefully something gets worked out.

First time I listened to MNR Radio the other day THANK YOU so much…………..had a big driving day, had you on the iPod 2 hours of Denver Bronco football in the middle of NJ SWEET!
As for Marshall, his timing is horrible, the contract ending is at a bad time for him and his hip injury is a bad thing for him too. Klis reported to day that Brandon met last night with Bowlen and left with a couple boxes of stuff. I hope it was playbooks and films and not him emptying his locker. I think we seriously need to realize Brandon Marshall’s time is probably close to over as a Denver Bronco.
It might be for the best though, Brandon isn’t getting the total team concept.
I guess Gaffney Royal Scheffler and the Rook better step up.

It isn't just the fact he hasn't turned up ...
I mean, if it was Eddie Royal holding out or Ryan Harris, I would have some faith in them that they are at least getting their head in the playbook so that when they do show up they aren’t too far behind.
Does anyone honestly believe Brandon Marshall is spending his days rehabilitating and putting the required time into studying one of the NFL’s most complex playbooks? No, me neither.
If Brandon does show up to TC in August then my guess is that we will hear 100 reports of how he looks a) out of shape, b) like he has no idea what is going on and c) that he is running his mouth at someone/something.
A sad state of affairs.

Actually this hold out stuff just drives me nuts
I mean he is under contract. A contract he agreed to, just honor it man. When it’s time then go for the gusto, I’m sure he’ll get what he wants. This is just poor timing, whether he talks to Bowlen or not. He needs to get onboard with this new regime and learn how things work or don’t work. You can’t always go with what you thought you knew.

When he signed the contract he didnt know that the CBA would be terminated
so instead of his contract ending after next season and getting a new one then, he wont become a FA for another 2 seasons. I would be trying to get an extension now too. And hes not really holding out. Hes in Denver

I usually always side with the player when it comes to the NFL and contract disputes
because the contracts are not guaranteed. I side with Marshall on this one if he is in fact holding out which we don’t even know if thats what hes doing. He is in Denver afterall and its not like he would be practicing anyway

by lolcopter on Jun 12, 2009 11:52 AM MDT reply actions 0 recs
My unsolicited BMarsh assessment
Marshall is undeniably a terrific WR, who when he puts his mind to it, especially given his rare combination of agility and size, can be one of the top 5 wideouts in the league.
I also think he’s got a good heart in there, but he has social and emotional problems that he needs to deal with. While I’ve defended him too, and have thought maybe he’s maturing. he seems to still attract off the field distractions enough to the point where you have to worry about him as someone we can get behind long term.
In short, I hope he stays around for awhile because he’s a rare talent, but I also am learning not to count on him long term because stuff follows him around like the cloud of dirt follows Pig Pen from Peanuts. Until he really shows us that the team is first, and that he’s cleaning up his act, well, nothing will surprise me. After awhile it’ll be our fault if we become disappointed with him.

Time Bomb
In compiling my 53 man 50th Anniversary roster, I was amazed at those players who had great potential and essentially wasted it in part, including Clarence Kay, Bobby Humphrey and an OT that momentarily escapes my mind as ones who could have been great all-time Broncos.
The Denver wide receiving corps is composed of good role players for each role, but definitely needs BM at the top. I do not agree with some who think we have an outstanding set of receivers even with him and without him, I think we are a house of cards. There is no other receiver for the #1 role.
Given this, I think the Denver offense may look a lot like the Chicago of last year, with a strong rookie running back, a fast, smaller headline receiver, Orton as the QB and not a lot of receiving depth. I am afraid that I see trouble.
Someone please talk me out of it.
by Baltimore Bronco on Jun 12, 2009 12:26 PM MDT reply actions 0 recs
That's a valid fear, but
differences (these are all imho):
Better OL than Chicago
Better offensive mind at the helm
Better WR’s (even w/o Marshall, but especially with him)
So other than that, it’s the same… ;-) But I understand where that fear comes from.
Not that I’d mind if Knowshon had a season like Matt Forte’s, mind you.

Knowshown Will Shine
One McDaniels’ move I am not critical of is the Moreno pick. I think he will have a Forte-type year.
However, Orton is the same guy, the Denver line may be asked to perform differently in this system and it will take time for the line to become used to this new system, but is Royal better than Hester? What about the rest, good possession receivers, but anything more than that?
You have reduced my panic a bit.

Glad I could help ;-)
I think Knowshown will avg more per carry.
Oh also I think Hester is the best kick returner in the game but Royal is a better wide receiver than he is in my opinion, he’s already a terrific route runner and has great hands. Hester is better as a KR. Stokely’s a great 3rd guy and then they have a bit of depth with guys like Chad Jackson and Gaffney but there are other unproven guys too of course.
Or to put it another way…

Is Royal better than Hester?
Royal caught 91 balls, and runs great patterns. Hester can catch punts and kickoffs but struggles as a receiver.

Chicago?
There are a few differences. Gaffney would be the #1 receiver in Chi, since Hester’s routes are sloppy and overall, he’s not that great of a WR. They don’t have anyone close to the skillset of Royal or Stokley. While Greg Olsen is very good, Scheffler can out-receiver him easily. Graham and Clark are similar, but Graham has the edge there and Quinn should be very good. Our RB corps is deeper – I really like Forte and Moreno will have to play well to get to his level (although I believe that he can), but we have Hillis, Buckhalter and Jordan. Then one could argue the rookie WRs ad infinitum….
Point is, there aren’t as many similarities as you’d think at one glance. The biggest difference is that the Bears have Ron Turner and Lovie Smith, while we have Bobby Turner (YES!), Rick Dennison, Mike McCoy and Josh McDaniels. I doubt that Marshall will hold out, but if he did? We’re still in very good shape.

Bummer. I could care less if guys like Gaffney buy into the McDaniels program, but we need the Champ Bailey’s, DJ Williams, Ryan Clady’s and Brandon Marshall’s to get behind the Coach. If they don’t, this team is doomed in 2009.

Gaffney's not buying the system
he’s selling it
by lolcopter on Jun 12, 2009 1:03 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
Well I wish some of Shanny’s vets would sell it to. The Coach will need BM as much as BM needs the paycheck.
It’s not easy to replace 103 catches and 1,200 yards per season from a 24 year old.
This off season sucks.

Offseason

Again, I agree with you.
Of course, I hate change.

That's the difference between us
I don’t hate change at all. I hate three mediocre seasons in a row.

agreed
but it seems like Champ and DJ are doing their part. even the Denver Post was reporting how DJ is eager to learn his new position (yet again!) and Champ welcomes the additional help in the secondary. i think the defense HAS to buy into the new system, because they don’t have much leverage after last year.
on the offensive sign, the o-line will hopefully be the anchor, and the new additions of moreno should excite the other offensive players. Royal seems to be a class act, and has the huge potential for growth whatever his new role may be. I’m not too surprised at BM acting this way (but at this point I’m not reading too much into it), but everything I’ve seen from him I think he is on board (his comment about following the guys with the rings, etc.)
this off-season does suck, and sometimes change is coming a bit too fast for people to adjust, but I think that will quickly fade once we start playing games. having said that, we better get some W’s real quickly, or else people will play the “what if” game all season long

oh, the drama
i had hoped for a package deal before the draft sending bm somewhere for def. line stud. i recognize, when on the field, he can be a game changer. but, because of off field behavior, he can also change games by not being available. what’s done is done, now is the time to unload this albatross. i’m still forecasting 4-12 this year, bummer.

Medical Condtion
I wonder how much of this is generated by his displeasure with the medical staff incorrectly diagnosing and not recognizing his hip injury and distrust of their approach to his medical rehab. My understanding is that he went to Florida to pursue rehab with a medical team he trusted. Perhaps he’s meeting with Bowlen to ask permission to do rehab there instead of Denver. He wasn’t cleared to practice yet anyway.
by Ponderosa on Jun 12, 2009 1:38 PM MDT reply actions 0 recs
this is what i am thinking too
we dont know the whole story and its not like he can even practice anyway
by purplesocks on Jun 12, 2009 1:49 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
What if he's not progressing?
It’s possible that Brandon isn’t healing properly, and that the reason why he’s rehabbing in FL is to hide that fact from the Broncos while his agent tries to fit his golden parachute.
Just a thought.

looks like the Post is reporting that he is meeting with McDaniels......
i’m sure it is with both Mcdaniels and Bowlen

Overreaction 101
Can anyone post the link, or reference something, when claiming that BM has “demanded” a raise, or stated his intention to hold out? Because all I’ve seen from comments above is doomsayin.
Did anyone think that maybe he doesn’t want to show up for rehab? Doesn’t he not trust the medical staff at DV? You know, the same staff that couldn’t diagnose a problem with it’s STARTING QB losing 30lbs of weight late in 2007? The same staff that Tony Sheffler doesn’t care to rehab, and work out, with? I could be wrong, and I don’t mind being called on it…
…but c’mon, guys.
Maybe he’s telling Bowlen about that today.

as for our medical staff and Rich Tuten
I think their should be some red flags…..this Marsahll incident……they couldn’t find out Cutler had diabetes…Scheffler indeed preferred to work out with the Nuggets trainer and how many people have last in the last few years to similar injuries and muscle pulls?

it's a reasonable question
I’m curious what some of our resident MHR physicians might say about it. Could our recent spate of injuries been worsened by misdiagnosis or overstrenuous conditioning, or is this just what we (and Brandon Marshall) should expect when you play football?

But that option is in every contract a player and team sign
so actually that is part of the contract.
It is a bit one sided but as a football and baseball fan, I hate it that if you sign a lame baseball player you always have to eat the contract. Football you don’t, so you dismiss and recoup your expected expeditures.

I think everyone has blown this way too far out of proportion.
It’s not any different than a lot of players in the NFL, at least he has a good reason. Few players fully recover from hip surgery in his position, so I can’t blame him for being skeptical of Denver’s medical staff. After last season, wouldn’t you all be skeptical too? I believe fully that Marshall just wants to receive the best care he can so he can be back playing solid football for the BRONCOS. He doesn’t seem like a guy that just wants to jump ship for this or that. Does anyone remember how he felt when Cutler pussed out? I sure the hell do, in fact, it’s my signature.

Said it before and I'll say it again.
I think this is an opportunity — we should pay him and pay him now. It’s not like he’s in the middle of his contract or hasn’t produced for us. The other issues he’s had actually work more for us than against us in this scenario in terms of leverage. I think it’s a good opportunity for us, if we sign a new contract now.
The only way an incentive-based contract signed right now could possibly hurt us is if we don’t reach a CBA next year, which would give us Brandon for two more years on his current salary. But in that scenario (a) I don’t think it would be fair to the man and while I wouldn’t like it in that case I couldn’t blame him for forcing a trade (which, in my view, is exactly what Cutler did), and (b) I’m with Guru in my expectations that a new deal will be in place by then.

Maybe the Broncos might be tipping
the strategy of the owners and what Bowlen expects in the negotiations?
