Seriously . . .
can we reasonably expect this league to make it to kickoff?
There’s NO buzz. It’s WORSE than the XFL.
I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t expect this league to ever play one game.

Yeah, you've got to be kidding me
The season is actually being played during the NFL season with the championship game during Thanksgiving weekend.
I can’t see anyone actually getting interesting in this. This looks like a joke. Although if it somehow succeeds, it may help revive some NFL careers.

yeah dude. atleast the XFL had hot cheerleaders and nicknames on the jerseys
if i was running the UFL, i would have it in the spring. especially with the arena football league canceled for now

The UFL has a lot of rich folks behind it,
so they can weather the storm early. Also, unlike the USFL or the XFL, the UFL is not setting out to compete with the NFL. They are looking to use the pro-caliber players that could be interchanged with the bottom third of NFL rosters to create decent football. Their best bet is to sell themselves as an unofficial minor league. One smart thing they’ve done is make UFL contracts non-exclusive so that their players can be “called-up” to NFL rosters during the season. Playing during the NFL season means that their guys will be in shape and ready to go if they make an NFL roster.
Honestly, I really want a good minor league pro-football system to develop. There are so many guys that either couldn’t make the grades in college, got in some trouble, or are simply late bloomers that could make it in the NFL given alternatives to the NCAA. The AFL has played this role a little bit, but it isn’t an accurate gauge for for outdoor football because the scales are so different.

I didn't think about it that way . . .
but it IS setting up to be the football equivalent to a double- or triple-A baseball league.
That being said, though . . . if there’s going to be interest in the product, shouldn’t they at least hype it up a bit more than they’re doing? Oh, to be a marketing guru for these folks . . . the ones they currently have are failing – or at least not earning their money.

If they are going to be the "farm teams"
How come they have teams in Los Angeles and Las Vegas? I know minor league baseball teams are all over as well. Who knows…money is money and there’s lots of it to be made in Vegas, that’s for sure.

Las Vegas has a triple A team for the Blue Jays.
Makes sense to go to a more open market for a couple teams. The NFL (stupidly) won’t touch Las Vegas. We aren’t even allowed to call Superbowl parties Superbowl parties in this city.
Anyway, I think NFL scouts can find their way to either Vegas or L.A. They aren’t exactly the backwoods.
Can’t really compare the type of minor league that the UFL might become because they’re teams are not associated with specific NFL teams.
