Overall, I like the direction our franchise is headed. I think this season could be brutal given our offensive and defensive transitions and the fact that we play virtually every good team in the league. However, I feel that bringing in tough, smart, high-character guys who love the game will eventually pay off. I think McDaniels is a brilliant offensive-mind and twice the play caller miniMcD, I mean Jeremy Bates, was or ever could be. I also think Mike Nolan will be better than our last 4 D-coordinators combined. Ed Donatel is a stud and Wayne Nunnley seems to be the real deal as well - I hold high opinions of these men despite my inability to spell their names correctly.
That said, I can't help but wonder what kind of steps forward JC would've made next year under Shanny and how good we could've been if we'd just stayed pat and fixed the defense with our 9 draft-picks. I know your first instinct will be to, in a huff, say, "No Jay didn't want us so he can go (#*$*$( a *(#(#(&." I advise against this. Think about it. In fact, I'll give you an anonymous pole. So, here's the question, Broncos Country: If you could snap your fingers and bring back Shanny / Cutler, would you? What combination of Coach QB would you go with if you could choose?
