7th Annual Broncos Fanfair
To anyone who's unaware, the Broncos 7th annual FanFair is this Saturday at Invesco Field. Since there isn't much information online regarding the Broncos Fanfair, I figured I'd break out a fan post for anyone who's interested.
Last year's event was my first time attending, and opposed to this year, it was a two day event. They've trimmed the event down to one day with extended hours, so I can't truly say if the information below will be consistent with what goes on this year. Anyway, a few things I learned last year are below the jump..
AutographsI am not much of an autograph hunter, but FanFair is a great time to try and get some signatures. Attempting to get a specific player is pretty difficult, though. They have several autograph stations throughout the stadium, and the players rotate between them. Each station has it's own line, and often the lines last year were long enough that one or two groups of players would rotate through while you were waiting with other fans.
If you want to get some of the top players, the best advice I was given was to get autographs first thing in the morning. Last year it seemed like most of the starters did their sessions in the morning, and it thinned out as the day went on. There were some exceptions though, but it just depended on the line you were in. There also was a Bronco legend/alumni autograph station as well.
Events
There is a LOT to do at FanFair, and it really runs the gamut from family events to football nerd Q&A's. The best things for kids by far was the on-field activities. Last year they had inflatable activities for the kids on the field, and a kid specific autograph station.
They let the big kids (adults) onto the field ONLY at the end of the day last year, and you could try to kick a field goal or catch a punt. It's safe to say that I am no Eddie Royal when it comes to fielding punts, but I did have a blast getting on the field.
For the MHR group, they had Q&A's with the coaches last year, and I hope they do the same. Prior to my X's and O's indoctrination at MHR, I wasn't nearly as interested in this aspect of the game, but I'll be seeking these events out this year.
There's a ton of memoribilia at FanFair, and most of the concourses have booths set up from various sports memoribilia companies. Think a mall card show, but Broncos/Colorado specific. There are also several places where you can win prizes. Last year they had a Comcast Broncos Quizshow in section 104, and Broncos Bingo on the Club Level.
I hope this helps my fellow Broncoholics. It really is a great event for Broncos fans. If nothing else, just seeing the trophies gives you a warm feeling for the upcoming season.

I'll be there with family this year
Hopefully I get some good insight to some things and can report back some interesting tidbits.
I don’t want breakaway speed. I want break-some-poor-fool-as-I-bowl-you-over power getting 6 yards off a play that should have been stopped for 2 at most.

BTW
If any of you are going to be there and would like to meet up, email my profile name @gmail.com and we’ll try to set something up.

I hadn't even thought of the prospect of meeting up.
But if any MHR’s wanted to schedule a time and a place, I could always be convinced to toast a beer with the group.

Already have my ticket
This will be my first Fanfair. My Cousin is coming up from the Springs. We plan on some fishing Friday, then on to the Fanfair on Sat.

A few Questions: Tell me about the Bronco legend/alumni autograph station. Is there only one or two alumni at the station at a time, or several guys that may be sitting around that will sign? Do you only get one autograph for each time you wait in line at the alumni station?
What is with the seating? Do you have to wait in the seats or can you start imediately at the autograph station? How early will the lines start on the outside of the stadium?
Thanks for the info and great post!

Diehard
I didn’t wait in line at the alumni station last year, but I think they had several alums at a time, with the alums changing throughout the day. The way it worked, you stood in a line that looped around, and then when you came to table with the legends you had an opportunity to get a sig from each guy at the table.
It’s a pretty good process, other than the fact you can’t guarantee you will get to the front of the line in time to get a specific player. It has it’s benefits though, since sometimes you get in a line that’s short because of who’s at the table, and by the time you get to the front a better group has moved in. And the guys are all class acts. Jarvis Moss went out of his way to sign a few more autographs at a station last year after his time at the station was already up.
The seating on the tickets seems mostly irrelevant. I wasn’t there when the doors opened last year, but my understanding is that it’s basically a free for all once the doors opened. The stations/booths/events are already set-up, and you are free to go to whichever you want. I am not sure how early the lines start outside, but I’ll find out this year.

Another question
Will they allow me to carry in a backpack or something to carry a few binders of football cards?

I think it’s just like the games. You can bring a backpack in, as long as you don’t have any prohibited items in them.

Once again, I'm jealous
It’s things like this that make living in LA stink (that and the smog LOL).

On the plus side,
At least you still have a basketball team playing.

Thanks NFLJunky
For the inside scoop. I cannot attend this year. I am getting ready for a “Walk for Lupus” on the 14th at Sheridan park in Denver and have other prior commitments this weekend. I’d love to go meet all of you and hang out. May be next year. :-(

Thanks Kirk.
That’s awesome that you’re walking for a cause, but it’s too bad you can’t make the event. My favorite part of FanFair is seeing all of the other Broncos fans. There’s always such a fun spirit of camaraderie, at least until the guy next to gets Bingo and wins the autographed jersey that was rightfully yours.
