Krieger: Say What?

“The most overrated correlation in sports is the one between success and the coach or manager.” -Dave Krieger, Denver Post, 06/06/09

Through expansion, salary caps and free agency, athletic parity is the dominant constant in the NFL. As has been previously pointed out here on MHR, it is quality of coaching that increasingly differentiates franchises. Leaving the peculiarities of ownership aside, it is much more difficult to retain an exceptional assistant coach than to retain an exceptional athlete and this fact, almost solely, is responsible for the slow roll of the pecking order.

If you guys rush there to vote--remember these names...

Rick Upchurch—special teams—return specialist

Louis Wright—corner

Goose Gonsoulin—safety

Rich ‘Tombstone’ Jackson—defensive end

Floyd Little—running back

Lionel Taylor—wide receiver

These names are important. Not only did they help us stay competitive when we were either downright bad or in the process of improving—they were really truly great players. As an example…Gonsoulin may still be my favorite player ever. It was 7 thru 11 years old when I watched him—and he was the best Safety, AFL or NFL….period.

Guardian of the Gate to La La Land!
Gonsoulin, Taylor, Little, Wright, Gradishar, Atwater, Davis, and Sharpe...
Why are they not in the Hall...I just don't understand.

Louis Wright for CB!

Tis better not to throw it to the deep receiver but the open receiver.

Game over man! Game over!

Oh we are so hosed. The MSM has started to pick up on the positive vibe of this team we’ve been on to for months. Damn you Hack!

Ya

I guess Dungy speaking up against the tide has started a rash of people looking at Denver again instead of just reprinting previous articles. Now they are liking what they see. Uh oh…

Tis better not to throw it to the deep receiver but the open receiver.
