My All-Time Bronco Team
I am proud that my favorite team is doing something like this. The video alone is worth its weight in gold to me. My only hope is that the fans will take an honest look at our past and our All-Time team will rightly include our past greats. Especially from that fabled Orange Crush defense.
Here is My All-time Bronco team or you can view it below. Just be sure to set your page to "widescreen" view. I am curious to see how the rest of us MHR people voted.

I really like your team
The only beef I have is your inclusion of Dan Neil. I cursed Dan Neil probably more than any other Bronco while he was on the roster. He always seemed to be called for holding at the most inopportune times.
If it were my team, I’d go with Keith Bishop at guard.
Other than that, I’d keep the rest the same. Question though: I’m not sure who Jackson is at DE. Does he deserve the spot more than Simon Fletcher?
Lots of great players…hard to keep Meck off, but who would he replace?
Good job.
But who will guard the guards themselves?

Tombstone Jackson
I have had the opportunity to see them both play, Rich Jackson would be my choice. Not a knock on Simon at all, I think the term for Rich, if he were playing today would be Beast!

Awesome!
The format is utterly disgusting though….though Tombstone Jackson was certainly beastly!

Lol...
I was actually searching for a picture of him, when I noticed the Broncos History logo and figured that would be even better.

Yeah, I liked Bishop too...BUT
how could I not put the entire line that blocked for TD in there? Bishop was part of a line that saw Elway get sacked 500+ times. lol That is how my logic came down. :)
Thanks!

I like your selection.
I also have a couple spots I selected differently, but overall – I can see where you’re coming from….
That is so awesome that DB.com has that, and you’re right, the videos are awesome!!!!
Thanks for the post!
First team to three consecutive SB wins!!!! and then some, right? I think four and we oughtta let someone else have a fair shot : )

Good squad
My team was similair. I gave the nod to Mecklenburg over Al (not an easy choice though), Simon Fletcher over Alzado, Keith Bishop over Dan Neil, and Studdard over Jones.
That was a cool experience and the videos brought back some awesome memories. I have to admit that I am too young to remember some of the original Broncos, but reminds us all of some the great players to call Denver home.

The Full Roster, Broncos All Team
Zappa, good choices,we are little different, I can go with your selections.
Some food for thought.
If McD had this talent of veteran’s to choose from to fill a 48 personnel roster, what would it look like? Fantasy, I know, but fun and then…. what our Team could be…

He would trade them all for Patriots players.
Haha, just poking fun.

Check out Schlereth. Pretty cute.
Not exactly the Mr. Smooth everyone’s so used to seeing on ESPN.

I picked
Haven Moses, Keith Bishop, Dave Studdard, Karl Mecklenburg, Dennis Smith, Rulon Jones, Simon Fletcher, and Rubin Carter. I filled the rest with the same that you have. This was not easy at all. As it was stated on the other post, they are all deserving.
With the 12th pick, the Broncos select Knowshon Moreno - Roger Goodell
That'll move the chains - Andy Samberg

I wish I had been able to get Austin Gonsoulin in there....
Too many great players….

I picked almost the same exact guys as you did.
I picked Keith Bishop instead of Dan Neil, Matt Lepsis instead of Tony Jones, Rulon Jones and Simon Fletcher at DE, Meck instead of TJ (Linebackers were impossible), Trevor Price instead of Smith (why wasn’t Darren Drozdov of puking-on-the-ball fame there???) (just kidding), and Dennis Smith instead of Thompson (safeties were impossible too.)
So in other words I didn’t pick nearly the same guys as you did.But hey, you’re the history expert :) Can’t wait to see how it works out.

Ditto yours except...
I had Jackson instead of Fletcher at DE and Marshall over Taylor at WR. I gave Marshall the edge because he is the most physically talented of the group, IMO.

BMarsh needs about 7 more years of beastliness in my opinion. :)

True
But given the choice, I went with ‘pure’ Broncos. I think Marshall is already better than Watson and Johnson, and the other choices had meaningful careers away from Denver. That’s the one thing I didn’t like about the nominees as a whole— too many guys with signfificant production elsewhere. Alzado is a great example. He died pumping Raider blood— identified far more with his Oakland than Denver— which, IMO, makes him a Raider and a candidate for the Raider team. He shouldn’t be on a Denver list no matter what he did, especially since he detiorated into a cheapshotting moron who embraced Raider thuggery with pure impunity.
I didn’t even much like voting for Zimmerman, who played more years in Minnesota. I went with Lepsis over Jones for the same reason.
Give me a better than average lifer over a John Lynch any day, I guess….

Lionel Taylor is a member of the AFL Hall of Fame...
he gets my nod over Haven Moses…the dude caught 100+ passes in the 60’s on the worst football team ever. lol I’m a big Taylor fan…can’t help it. :)

A trip through memory lane...
I filled my roster after I watched highlights of the Super Bowl against Green Bay. I totaly agree with papi. I had the hardest time with the safety position, but I went with Atwater and Smith. My offense was almost exactly the same as Zappa’s with the exception of Marshall, I think he’s just scratching the surface. On defense, I went with a couple of guys that eventually played for the Faders: Alzado and Brown. The videos were fantastic. It was great to see the original Mile High stadium in all its glory!

My offense is the same as yours
with the exception of Dan Neil. I had Keith Bishop as the other guard. Special teams is the same. Defense my differences are: Fletcher instead of Alzado, Pryce instead of Smith, Mecklenberg instead of Wilson.

I’d be hard pressed to come up with a better one.

Lionel Taylor
if you want to compare Lionel to a player most like him today IMO it would be Brandon Stokely. Not much speed, but sure hands, great routes, and a true competitor. About the same size as well.
Goose was the best in his day as the safety on some very bad defenses. But Atwater/Smith are far superior.
One named not mentioned in the defensive line is Bud McAdams. Big man, big stopper who came to play every down and every game. Made some all-league teams.

Willie Brown over Louis Wright
Wasn’t Willie’s fault the Broncos traded the best corner in the game. Wright was athletic but not as polished as Brown and Brown was a better sniper. Wright also played with the Rockets/Nuggets in the ABA for awhile, if you remember.

Brown is a Raider.

Nope, Brown started a Bronco
and he was very good. However, I think Louis Wright was better. I might choose Meck over either Wilson (very hard for me to do personally) or Jackson. And I might choose Goose over Dennis Smith. Don’t get me wrong, Dennis was great, but was a far better run-stopper than pass defender and Goose was so much better than anyone else on the field at the time that I just can’t leave him off. Very nice job Zap!

I don’t know if we ever had anyone better or not.
Like I have always said…theirs something about a guy named ruin.
All you get from drafting the "best player available" is a team full of good football players.

Hard to keep Mecklenberg off that LB Corps
But honestly, I don’t know who I would replace…

Al Wilson deserves the spot in my mind because of how monumentally the defense collapse right after his departure.

Good point!
But that may say more about the rest of the defense (Champ excepted) than it does about Wilson’s spot in history (and I’ll always be a huge Wilson fan). Go Broncs!
