Keep in mind - he was drunk.

Marshall drives a Mercury Mountaineer, Wow. Maybe he does need a raise.

That hurts.
My Mountaineer was one of my favorite all time rides. They have feelings, too, you know.

I like this
But when you’re going to use two and three tight end packages during the course of the season, you’d love to have three guys that you feel good about. To have three guys that can run block, pass block, catch passes in the passing game and make an impact at more than one thing, I think that’s very valuable to us.
So, McDaniels is planning on using some 3-TE sets…and apparently, Quinn is more than just the pure blocking TE most of us assumed he was. Perhaps that late 2nd rounder wasn’t wasted after all…

The MSM has finally come around to read some of the great post here at MHR.
Bowen states that Kyle Orton may have been misused in Chicago? That has already been gone over and over on here. Duh…One thing, I’m glad some writers are starting to take a more soften stance with the Broncos. I guess sports writers need “baby” steps too…

NFP
Personally, I have never equated NFP with the MSM; to me, their writing is several notches above that of their competitors. Lombardi, Bowen, Brandt, Bechta and Co. all write from experience and tap such a wealth of knowledge, without speculation or guesswork. They were worth reading before Bowen’s recent positive columns re:Orton, and hopefully they will remain so. I tend to include almost all of their columns in Tracks for that reason.

100% agree...even when they say negative stuff about the Broncos they bring strong arguments to back them up.

NFP, MHR and CNN...
= my only given online destinations any day. Gotta know first whats happening in the world, then whats happening in Bronco nation, then what reasonable people are saying about The League. It’s like coffee, without the physical addiction.
Anyway, I would agree that NFP transcends the mainstream menu….

McKinley could be the steal of the draft.
Multitalented, fast as lightning, can be a triple threat with passing skills, running the reverse, an receiving.
Spurrier has labeled a different individual as the "best wide receiver I’ve ever coached." The ol’ ball coach has given that distinct honor to Broncos fifth round draft pick Kenny McKinley.

He can also be the emergency QB. And maybe a Wildcat QB on occasion, sinc ehe passed for 1,500 yards and ran for 750 as a Senior in High School.

Marshall
If you don’t like skiing/boarding, fishing, sight-seeing, climbing, rafting, hiking, snow-shoeing, and beautiful sunny weather, then Denver is certainly not the place for you!

"Keep in mind - he was drunk."
To me, I think that makes is worse.
Cutting on Denver makes him a jerk. But driving drunk risks other people’s lives. I was engaged to a girl that was killed by a motorist who was high on pot. Marshall’s rant against Denver (meant or not) is the least of his problems for that night. He can’t blame this on on some woman; he owns this arrest.

I agree....this just REINFORCES the fact he has VERY questionable character...
What sort of idiot jaws with the police, curses out and antagonizes theme while being SO in the wrong. The guy is devoid of brains. I have been 10 sheets to the wind and still been able to be respectful of people, especially the law. What was he thinking? oh thats right, this guy cant put 2 logical thoughts together.
As a coach, guys like Marshall are PET HATES of mine…all the physical traits in the world to be GREAT…even ALL TIME….but dont have the character, ethics or brains to tae advantage of it.
I have not given up yet on him, but he needs some enlightenment!

I’m not in the slightest way condoning drunk driving. Sorry to hear that, HT. I only mean his words should be taken with a grain of salt.
by Douglas A. Lee on Jul 1, 2009 2:05 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
I didn't infer from your story that you meant it that way.
You were saying that he might not have meant what he was saying, and I understand. I don’t care what someone says when they’re drunk. I get cursed at all the time by drunk or high “bad guys”. For me, the frustration is that the guy is so dunk and out driving. If he doesn’t have the sense to avoid acting like a fool in front of the police, he should never have gone near a car. In fact, he should never go near a bottle at this point.

Sorry
for your loss, however long ago it was :-( Very tragic. And I’m with you on this.
Another prominent WR just did something horrible while high — at least he’s paying a price for it, though many would argue it’s not strong enough.
Marshall really needs therapy. It feels like a combination of his own immaturity plus having gone through the Darrent Williams tragedy in person, and he’s just messed up about it. Denver probably reminds him of all that. But running away from it to another city won’t solve all his emotional problems. He’s probably a good person, and we know he’s a great talent, so I really hope he gets his act together. But he needs help.
by underdog on Jul 1, 2009 7:46 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
My biggest hope...
…is that Marshall stays here, and gets some help. I want to cheer for the guy. But if he chooses to move on, I’m not going to miss him.

Maybe, just maybe,
the strain from his involvement in the death of Dwill,
coupled with his off field issues—-makes him seek
a geographical cure. Short term solution at best…

That may be understandable UB3,
But in war seeing your buddy get blowed away right next to you does let you give up on your other players. He was under the influence of alcohol and distraught over losing a friend, but being a professional is being prepaired for any situation, just like me responding to a friends motorcycle accident last weekend expecting to treat a broken arm or leg. Things in life happen, and it is how we handle these situations as they arise is what makes us who we are. Profeesional peace officer take a shallow perspective toward drunk drivers, especially when they deal with death on so many occasions. The team should have realized Marshall’s psychosis and treated it. Hell, they can’t even diagnose a hip injury, why would they address his mind.
by bfree2bronc on Jul 1, 2009 1:32 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
The short answer for a geographical cure bfree is,
running away from one’s problems. Marshall’s drinking & onotther
issues, are his ways of coping….temporary at best.
I’m not making any excuses for Marshall—just trying to understand,
or better yet—giving my best guess….cause thats all we as Fans can
really do.
By the way, I have had buddies blown away—right next to me…
on a number of occasions.
