anyone interested in some Fantasy Football

Still have a few openings for the league

Well,  since I have not seen any unoffical fantasy leagues I thought I would make one.   I used Yahoo.   20 teams  Please feel free to join if you are a hard core player.

Custom League named MHR Fantasy League .

League ID# 239036

Password MSM.

You have chosen for your league to take part in a live online draft on Thu Sep 3  7pm mountain standard  time.  Arrive about 10 minutes before the live draft

We also suggest that all league members custom rank their players in case a manager can't make it to the draft. Managers can do this at any time by simply going to the Fantasy Football home page and clicking on their team name.

Thanks for joining. Good luck.

With 20 teams, you should use 1 RB and a flex spot (RB-WR-TE). Also I would recommend a 1pt per reception bonus for WR and TE only, as that evens out the RB vs WR-TE scoring in this format. With two RBs in the starting lineup, you’ve created a system where you will get RB-RB-RB-RB etc in the first 2 rounds at least.

Plus, teams that get stuck with Lamont Jordan and Javarris Williams as their starting RBs after the draft will lose interest by week 4. You then create a 12-16 team league by default, with certain players on dead teams.

I’ve played in a 28 team league a few times before, and that’s a great time. You would need to make QB, PK and TE “team positions”. And RB and WR could be individual player positions. If you went that route anyway.

Finally, I am confused on the DEF scoring. You appear to have both “team DEF” and IDP in the information above. Is that correct? Because that can get confusing with IDPs, especially for a casual idea like this.

Not knocking the IDP idea, as I’ve done that too. Many people like it, I didn’t like it the couple times I tried it, but that might have been the formats too.

Overall, I think it’s a good idea, but I would wonder if the scoring, lineups and rosters should be this complicated for a casual inertnet league with “strangers”.

Just my thoughts, feel free to take them or leave them. No offense either way. And again, not knocking the idea at all.

Plus...

Just to clarify my actual thought here - my personal experience has been that the more familiar the owners in a league are with each other, then the more complicated the rosters, lineups and scoring can be for the league. I have been a part of quite a few “anonymous” online league that tried to get detailed with the parameters and most fell apart before the end of the season. The best results I have seen for an anonymous online league (as far as league-wide interest and participation) have come from more simple and straight-forward parameters. With this group, I would think you could get a bit more complicated, given our shared interest in both the Donkeys and football overall. But I would just say to be careful with those kinds of things. I am interested in playing though.

Sorry for running on……..

Sheesh, my “clarification” was almost as long as the original.

Plus, I am having a nice conversation with myself….

thanks Ed for the suggestions

I will make some tweaks. I was a little overwhelmed with all the options. I will try and make it simple and fun!

WR

Might want to make it starting 2 WRs plus the flex, instead of 1 plus the flex. Also, for the reception bonus, might want to consider having that for WR and TE only. Yardage bonuses are 50/50 IMO. Regardless of any further changes, as long as we are all playing under the same set of rules, that’s what really matters.

Also, does “return touchdown” mean special teams TDs are credited to the individual player or the DEF?

And I’m in, I’ll go register now.

Posted revised info on the original post

Point 1 is changed.

I am no longer doing individual players for Def. If your teams Defense scores during special teams play you would get the points. Hope that answers your question

also brought down the number of teams from 20 to 16.

Bah... depends on how you do it =)

I am in a dynasty league, salaries with salary cap / year cap — free agency etc… but you play real rosters… Olineman, DLineman, 3-4, 4-3, etc… 12 team league with 53 players on your roster, six practice squad players, it is quite fun and makes the league year-round active. RIght now is the only slow time because we have already had our rookie draft / RFA / UFA / trades… most owners are just relaxing now.

Conflict with draft

I found out I have a live draft that night in my only redraft league, so I can’t do this league. Have fun regardless and thanks anyway.
