CST - Joyner: "Fans are treating Cutler differently than Grossman or Orton"
Brad Biggs checks in on the KC Joyner column from yesterday and points out that Cutler threw the more interceptions while leading (5) than anyone not named Favre or Roethlisberger. Personally, I don't think it's a great stat. A better indication would be how he compared to other QBs in close games, whether leading or trailing. For what it's worth, Cutler threw 6 INTs last year when the Broncos were anywhere from 8 points down to 8 points ahead (a one-possession game). I have no idea how that compares to the rest of the league; but for curiosity's sake, Drew Brees threw 9 such interceptions, so pretty good for Cutler there.

NYC - You are famous now.
Bill "Tubbs" Williamson took your horse tracks articles verbatim for one of his blog entries yesterday.
NYC – you have an avid reader in Pork Chop. I’d go as far as to say you (not that thief Williamson) made it all the way to ESPN.com yesterday. Nice job for a mornings work.
Congrats.
But that also means you’re MSM now.

I do my best compliments with the back of my hand (I thought the MSM line was pretty clever). But Tubbs is undeniably biting your horse track rhymes.
I think it is an honor for someone from ESPN to steal your thoughts and post them online for millions to read (even if it’s just Pork Chop).
It’s also not the first time I’ve noticed Tubbs heisting ideas from this website. It’s just that yesterday was the most blatant.
Again – congrats.

It ‘s too bad Rod doesn’t want to coach, maybe he ‘ll continue to be a mentor. If I were a young receiver, I would like to pick his brain.
Cooleys’ article was good. That Smart football idea is intriguing.

Thank God I hate the Raiders.
I just read that Oakland has already cut their 6th round pick (a high #6) BEFORE training camp.
Cutting a draft pick before training camp? Are you f*ing kidding me! Has that happened in the last decade to any other team?
And some people are saying the Faiders will finish ahead of Denver.

Foul Language
I know this isn’t church camp, but there are younger readers who come here. There is no need for foul language, so please stop! I know you can express yourself better because I’ve read many of your comments.
by Endzone on Jul 14, 2009 10:10 AM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
I said more bad words in 3rd grade than I do as an adult. Kids say the darndist things. I use the * rather than full bad words. That is not the website filtering, it’s me filtering my content.
If it bothers you that much, I’ll stop. But I can’t help but think you continue to pick on one of the few posters here that is not on board with The Coach.
I NEVER hear you chastise other posters that call Cutler a pu**y or insinuate that he is gay. I see this sort of comment all the time on this website. Where are you then?
So I request that you call it both ways. If not, your holier than thou approach is INSINCERE.
by McGeorge on Jul 14, 2009 10:44 AM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
Patience
I usually let it slide because those posters are not regulars. But you make a habit of it and you are a regular. That’s why I’m asking you to cool it.
I can’t think of any other instance, other than a couple of days ago with you, when I “continue to pick on” anyone for “not being on board with The Coach”. As you know, it was not because you do not like the coach. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
by Endzone on Jul 14, 2009 10:56 AM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
That is a sorry excuse. Not regulars?
It’s simple.
If bad language bothers you to the point where you must say something, then you d*** well better call out everyone.
If not, you leave me with the distinct impression that you are probably laughing or at the least in agreement with the Cutler is a “pu**y” or "Cutler is a f*g" crowd.
Like me, you are entitled to your opinion of Cutler, the Coach, Bowlen, etc. But don’t come at me with some counterfeit sense of righteousness.
Call it both ways Ref.

McGeorge I really like your posts and ideas concerning the Broncos,
but there is a place for everything and like the crew here said this is a family orientated blog and language of any sort should be held out. I say WTF sometimes meaning “watched the film”…hmm…well something like that. Guru’s post on how we should write and post…back in March I believe.

I save my harsh language
for the bar, or for Call Of Duty. I have a horrible mouth, but this is a place to keep it down. I can’t stand Cutler, and what I say about him off the record is a lot more vulgar than what I’d say on here. Rules is rules.

Personally
I pass over anybody’s comment that has asterisks in them as mindless Babel. Its shows IMO the writer lacks intelligence to express himself. Therefore I don’t give credence to his comments. That is one of the things in particular that I respect about this site is that, for the most part, it doesn’t degrade itself to such mindlessness.

Read the Rules of Conduct
Then follow them. There’s nothing to attack EZ for – he’s right. I’ve flagged dozens for cursing, so you’re not being singled out – you have been told about this before and for some reason aren’t stopping. It seems inappropriate to attack another member for noticing that your in violation of the Rules of Conduct. If you are willing to stop – please do.

That's right, EZ
If cursing in comments offenses ANYONE, please tap actions and then ‘flag’. Tell John – who is the only one who will read them – why you feel that way.
And yes – that kind of language is a direct violation of the Rules of Conduct that everyone on the site has agreed to. Certain people have been told about this repeatedly and seem to feel a need for attention anyway.

I rather enjoy
having a use for my vocabulary, and it excites me when other people challenge me with words that I haven’t learned yet. It does tend to raise the intelligence of the whole that way. And just like proofreading your comments before you post, it dilutes a bit of the emotional rant in everyone. THAT is one of the major differences that make this site way better than the Denver Post.

Again. I have yet to read one person tell a poster to refrain from calling Cutler one of several vulgarities. Why is that?
Until you guys call it both ways, you are preaching to someone that has evidence to believe bad language doesn’t bother ANY of you so long as you agree with or find that post funny.
So prove me wrong, tell the next Cutler basher to "stuff it" the next time someone calls Jay a pu**y, uses a crude homosexual reference or several of the distasteful things that are said on this blog. It’s common on this site so you’ll have plenty of opportunities.
I’ll gladly clean it up if you all refrain from hypocrisy. Thus far, your officiating of this site is highly one sided.
by McGeorge on Jul 14, 2009 1:53 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
Nonsense
I’ll gladly clean it up if you all refrain from hypocrisy. Thus far, your officiating of this site is highly one sided.
The only person who officiates on this side is John and he has gone out of his way to accommodate those who have different points of view. I’ve told several folks to stop cursing, including you. I’m not doing this as staff – only John officiates. I’m doing this as someone who is tired of reading your profanity and personal attacks. If someone points out – accurately – that you are consistently violating that agreement, you attack them as hypocrites. The thing that is hypocritical is agreeing to this Code and violating it repeatedly. Either stay within the Code of Conduct or leave.

I think we should encourage swearing. Studies have shown that ‘curse words’ make physical, and presumably emotional pain more tolerable. Furthermore, while most language originates from the left hemisphere of the brain, swearing has been shown to arise from the right hemisphere (often considered the ‘creative’ side of the noggin).
Obviously this post is partly in jest, but if you’re seriously worried about questionable content for children then you should probably keep them off the intertubes as I guarantee they’re regularly exposed to far worse content than ‘f*ing’.
For example, here is a link to a comments recently posted on a Sesame Street blog:

Kent Babbs statement regarding McDaniels rush to name starting quarterback.
It was obvious that Orton was the likely starter, but McDaniels essentially kicked the legs out from under Chris Simms and risked castrating Simms’ effort entering a pivotal preseason for Denver, too.
Chris Simms came into the Broncos knowing he would be in a backup role, so his “legs” are going to be fine Babbs. You need to worry about your teams success not ours. You never know, Cassel may be a ‘one year wonder’.

NFLTA
I saw Rod last night and like the true Bronco he is (and forever will be), he defended the team and said they will be better then everyone expects. I wanted him to punch Dukes in the face after Dukes went on and on about how tough our schedule is and how no one in the locker room could possible trust the HC. He claims the team will fall apart at the first loss because no one trusts the HC and referred to it as everyone wanting off the Titanic.
Rod said the team is on board with the HC and the veterans appreciate the changes the HC has made in terms of accountability and discipline. As they looked at the first 5 games on the schedule, Rod said “I see 5-0”. Love it!

Correct me if I"m wrong...
…but the trust issue MacDaniels created in the Cutler situation is that you can trust that if you act like a me-first three year old, you aren’t welcome on his team. Maybe its just me, but I have a hard time seeing a team come apart at the seems over this one…and if they do…its the lockerroom that needs cleaning, not the coach.
Somebody needs to tell Dukes that the human mind has amazing abilities— for example, it can take on new information and adapt to it, process it, and formulate new and original thoughts.
There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance-- that principle is contempt prior to investigation."

Yuck
Jamie Dukes does not know what he’s talking about. Rod is, as always, a class act. Dukes says “you can’t tell me” the Broncos players won’t go that extra mile for the head coach. Absolutely ridiculous. Even Rod throws up his hands at the end after listening to Dukes.

Nice to see Marshall's attitude changing
It looks like he’s found some hard realities and is dealing with them. I still believe that could be good for both him and Denver. He needs a good year to get a good contract and Denver can certainly use a big strong receiver. Now, if he can just deal with not being the center of attention in the receiving corps…..

Yes bear, he knows he is caught between a rock and a hard spot.
If he performs this year, then about mid way through the season give him the raise he deserves, not until then. And that is barring any off field issues, he still may receive a suspension from Goodell.

I'm still worried about how long it will take him to catch on to McD's routes.
I wonder if he is going to be able to get the McD WR skill set down in time to secure a starting position. He is worth a lot less if he is making the wrong reads and reactions.
