What an a-hole

Dukes. Pretends to write down that Orton “is a great quarterback.” What is his deal? He obviously hates on Orton too. What if he wants to interview Orton because of his surprising start to the season? Will Orton remember this stuff and tell him to go stick it? I can’t wait to shock the NFL. Go Broncos!

by solace on Jul 16, 2009 7:11 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

clearly ambiguous

He seemed to come to the defense of the Bronco’s FO and players when confronted by Duke’s blatant bias, claimed not to care about QB throwing the ball, emphasized business aspect, agent’s role, and need to ensure financial security. He wants to score touchdowns and get paid like a top 10 receiver (probably wants top5 $$).
That’s what I got from the clip.
Can’t believe Dukes attitude when referring to Orton, unprofessional and unbelievable.

you already know.

by justwhytee on Jul 16, 2009 7:13 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

You guys just reminded me why

I decided not to watch this clip. :-) But thanks for doing the work and giving the summation of it, so I don’t have to!

I agree, too, if the Broncos “miraculously” don’t stink next year and if Orton is pretty decent or even good, Dukes won’t say “I was wrong.” It’s so easy to go negative because if you’re wrong you just assume no one remembers and if you’re right you can let everyone know that constantly. Anyway, I pass on anything that has Dukes on it. But glad to see Marshall saying more of the right things these days.

by underdog on Jul 16, 2009 7:16 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

+1

I probably wouldn’t have watched the clip anyway, but, as usual, every member here at MHR that did watch it confirms why I avoid NFLN and most of ESPN for any credible football analysis or insight. And Dukes and Wilcotts, these guys are in a class all their own…. and that would be low class. The unfortunate side effect of watching or listening to these two Gomers, even when you’re only doing so because they have one of our players on, is that it gives them ratings and word of mouth. So even though these hacks are two of the most god-awful “analysts” in all of football, all of the negative talk about them and how god-awful they really are just makes that many more people go and watch them. It’s like posting a video online of something horrific (for example, someone being killed) and saying, “Here’s a video of someone being killed, but whatever you do, DO NOT WATCH IT! It will haunt your dreams and stay with you forever!” What happens? Yep, more people than ever watch it!

Don’t get me wrong, I’m in no way implying that a video of someone dying is the same as watching/listening to Dukes and Wilcotts, although I’ve wanted to kill my monitor and TV before just to shut these geniuses up. But my point is that if we would all just stop reading, watching, and listening to a-holes, er, um, I mean people like this, then maybe we can get them to go away. Because publicity, negative or positive, is what keeps these guys employed. I know it probably won’t happen, I mean look at some of the hacks that STILL have jobs after years of being mindless morons, but it’s always worth a shot.

I do agree with dashiell below though. The only real way to get these guys out of our football lives is to voice our opinions and frustrations to their employers. And really, it can’t just be about how they bash the Broncos or telling them “these guys suck, get rid of them”. That can be part of it, but these “analysts” have a right to the opinion, no matter how idiotic or misinformed it may be. Besides, that will just sound like fans being emotional and defensive and crying about their team being picked on and the networks/websites/magazines/newspapers/etc. hear that kind of stuff everyday. No, it needs to be voiced by fans with intelligent reasoning and opinion backed by actual facts, statistics and examples of how moronic, unprofessional, biased, misinformed, and flat out wrong these “analysts” consistently are.

Feel free

to voice your opinion to the NFLN btw, if Dukes (and Wilcots too?) tireless Broncos bashing makes you not want to watch their network anymore. They can be fair and critical but this has gone way beyond rational and fair.

I can’t say I’d publicly condone you, or anyone, attacking Dukes, but IF it were to happen and I saw those pictures, I’d laugh my freakin’ ass off. Because I’m with you, I truly despise this man, and that’s saying something for me cause it takes a lot for me to despise someone.

Try not to let these dunderheads get to you....

Hi Boydy….I have as much vitriol for these 2 clowns as the next guy but I just don’t think it’s worth my time letting them get to me. I have to keep reminding myself that there’s a reason why these guys are in the studio in the middle of July…..there’s absolutely NOTHING happening in the world of sports….especially in the NFL. For whatever reason they keep swinging for air by trying to bring on Broncos on back-to-back nights to stir up some crap. And when they’re not doing that, they talk about our second favorite NFL topic…..Brett Favre.

Until training camp starts in 2 weeks, I say just avoid NFLN all together. Let the dogs have what’s left on the bone.

but he is being very professional about this whole thing. I will still be a fan of his even if we trade him.

He said what he was able to say.

and kept everything behind closed doors and didn’t give into being put on the spot. The only thing I wasn’t fond of was when he said he was doing “360” and “windmill” dunks. Even if his hip is feeling better he shouldn’t be doing stuff like that so close to camp.

He clearly still

wants to be traded. When he was asked if he would be wearing a #15 Broncos jersey this season all he said in response would be that he would be wearing #15. It will be interesting to see how the situation plays out and what the Broncos get for him if he is traded. I definitely think he is worth a 1st rounder in the 20-32 range for a playoff team like Baltimore who really needs help at WR but I would probably take 2 2nd round picks or something like that if we can’t get a 1st rounder for him. I still hope he has a great season for us and signs a long term deal to remain a Bronco but after today I am convinced he wants out of Denver because he doesn’t trust the medical staff and other reasons.

It's all been discussed at great length in other posts.....

but it doesn’t really matter what Marshall wants. If we don’t get what we want in a trade for him, then he’s not going anywhere. And if that happens, I guarantee you he will play this year. As cliche as the saying is, we hold absolutely all the cards here. If he held out, he’d lose his money for this year, he’d have to wait an extra year to be a free-agent, he’ll miss an entire year of playing time during his prime years (which is also critical for showing that he truly is healed from this injury), he’ll add yet another in a long line of red flags to his resume which will make teams even more apprehensive than they already are about risking a large, long-term contract with him…. it just goes on and on. He could still be traded at some point if we found a deal we liked, but I actually think he stays. And if he stays, he WILL play.

Personally, I’d like him to stay because I think, as long as he’s fully healed, he will play very well and put up big numbers, even if they aren’t quite as huge as they were before. At that point, I think both sides will have forgotten about this little spat and will be ready to move forward. That’s my hope anyway.

by RockyMtnHigh on Jul 16, 2009 11:22 PM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

Exactly

He’s not going anywhere unless the Broncos get a really good offer for him, which they likely will not, given the questions about him. He’s gota lot to prove about both his make-up off the field and about his health. Unless he’s getting really terrible advice from his agent (not that we’ve seen that before, noooooope!) he will know everything you say above and do what he can to play, even if he’d rather be elsewhere. He has way more to lose than the Broncos do (not that the Broncs wouldn’t also lose if he doesn’t play).

he doesnt want to be here anymore

I just get the feeling that he has already quit on the team… its a shame because it will be a while before we can get another beast like him, if ever.

Loyalty

He needs to do whats best for him and his family. If thats staying in Denver, he’ll do it. If its playing somewhere else he’ll do that.
He learned that when its comes to business loyalty takes a back seat. A good businessman will do whatever is best for the business and sometimes that means not being loyal to some of your employees. Thats not bad its just the way it is. So for a person to put his family ahead of a business is prudent. Hopefully what is best for the family is best for the business.

I don't think he was saying all the right things.

He didn’t include himself among Orton’s weapons…It was always Denver and never “us” or “we”…when asked if he was worried about his production slipping he never said that winning was the most important thing…

He is in this for himself plain and simple and while I can’t blame him for wanting more money, there are better ways to go about it (see Casey Wiegmann). I for one am pretty much done with this guy, although he’s probably not going anywhere for a while.

The whole scene made me sick

I can’t stand Dukes or Wilcots to begin with and then to see Brandon mocking his situation with the Broncos made me want to puke. The organization and the fans deserve better. We’ve stood behind Brandon as fans during his legal troubles and so has the Denver Bronco organization. Show a little more class Marshal! Take a lesson from Rod Smith. As far as the other clowns on NFLN…I hope some on MHR is recording all this so we can show it back to them and the end of the season and rub their faces in it!

I didn't either but

the laughing and jawing with Dukes and Willcots turned my stomach. So much for keeping your head down.

I think what bothered me the most was the fact he said Jay is helping him through this, coaching him how to react to the media, etc. etc. We oughta slap #6 with a big ole tampering lawsuit.

It wasn't as bad as Chad Johnson last year, but

I feel if he had been given the’ ok’ by his agent he would have asked for a trade right then and there. I agree that he has to do whats best for his family, but can’t he do that AND show loyalty to the Broncos? IMO Casey was able to do it and he didn’t have to be the center of a three ring circus to pull it off.

This made me upset

He kept referring to the team as “The Broncos” instead of “We” as if he has already gave up on the team. He obviously doesnt want to be on the team and he does expect a trade. This will be a downer on the whole season. When he scores a TD and starts to celebrate, i wont be able to hide the fact that beyond that TD and celebration…… he doesant want to be there,

Im done with BM

I usually don’t get upset about this kind of thing but this latest trashing of the Broncos is way out of line.

First let me address BM. The only thing I can figure is he is trying to be such a distraction so he can force your way out of Denver, well guess what BM? Your going to be a Bronco next year! There is no way we will get fair trade value for you with all of you off the field issues (suspensions, arrestes, hip surgery) so get used to wearing the Orange and Blue.

Now with that being said I hope he catches 3 balls for 4 yards all season. While he is running the wrong routes (because missed all the off-season work outs and dosen’t understand the offence) Royal, Stokely and Gaffney will be tearing up the league with crips, clean routes and catching accurate, on-time balls. Then we will see how “valuable” BM is.

Then the following off-season some lame team will pick BM up and he will get paid like he wanted all along…but it won’t last long. After only a few months he will ask for another trade because his Quarterback and the tight end are best friends and you don’t get the ball enough, and they make up plays in the dirt during timeouts and BM isn’t invited to one of their birthday parties.

The funny think is I used to be the fence about BM until I watched this interview.

Oh and for the fat bald guy to the left of BM on NFL network…your just stupid.

We have a plan!

What I see

Is Brandon removing himself from this team with nearly everything he says in this interview. I get the feeling he actually likes and respects Pat Bowlen, the fans and the people in Denver, but does not particularly care for coach McDaniels. I think the trading of Cutler has effected him way more than he is letting on.

That being said, how much desertion can we absorb and still compete this season? Really, I like my rose colored glasses as much as the next guy, but lets be realistic. If we really have any hope of salvaging this season we can ill afford to lose another pro bowl player. I love all the moves we have made so far, but we need to keep what we have on offense intact or we are in big trouble. I know some will go on to say, we will be fine without Brandon, but give credit where credit is due. He was a big part of our offensive attack last year and no matter what anyone says we will not be the better team for losing him.

by Broncanatic on Jul 17, 2009 8:02 AM MDT reply actions   0 recs

BM doesn't deserve to be a Bronco

This was out of JC’s playbook. Make a public display of maturity and the rights dupes will bite. The problem is that BM is clearly uncomfortable playing mature and saying the right things.

He’ll dog it. I have no doubt. I just hope the Broncos have the fortitude to bury him five deep on the depth chart rather than let him get his way. The dude won’t be able to handle the adversity, he’ll get arrested for something, and the league will be rid of him entirely.

Simply put, that was the most disgusting and disloyal interview by player I’ve ever seen. It’s pathetic considering what the Broncos fan base has tolerated with this guy and the loyalty he’s been shown. He could at least show a little respect for the fans.

b-marsh is gone

it’s just a matter of time, and something i expected from day 1 with his attitude. the darrent williams tragedy, the hip, cutler leaving, mcdaniels, … are all just speeding up the process. this is truly a ME guy, with a smile. remember the pre-planned “celebration” that would have costed us 15 yards in a tight game? the yelling at the wr coach to play me or trade me? the mcdonald’s bag? oh, the legal issues? on and on.

as a pure fan, you gotta love his talent. he will be very hard to replace. he is the only receiver on this team that can draw double-teams(hopefully royal will soon), and he is definitely a gifted athlete. but i’ve really had it with the diva receivers. at this point, the only stumbling block is trade value. that will change, probably before the season opener this year. while i love bowlen as an owner, he is making it seem a little too easy to get out of town if you want, and mcd seems to be ok with that. in this case, so am i. see ya, b-marsh, you could’ve been a great one. send him to the jets and watch it all come crashing down.

Like I said

in another post on another article. BMarsh is dead weight. He doesn’t want to be here and all of you who think things will be good when he shows up remember he hasn’t looked at the play book, He hasn’t talked to McD about the offence, He hasn’t talked to Orton or Simms about trying to set up a repoir (spelling) with them. He will learn about 1/2 of what is needed and when something goes wrong or runs an incorrect he will blame the QB because they didn’t see what he was trying to do. All the other recievers are far more progressed in the learning curve than he is and it won’t be till the end toward the end of the season that he can really make an impact. If your not studing and learning some rookie is going to take your spot and you can go ahead and file FA and see what you get. Sorry guys he’s dead weight and needs to go
