Brandon Marshall 'on-site', Ayers, Moreno still longshots
With the opening workout for Rookies, Quarterbacks and injured players a few hours away, there have been a few developments of note, thanks to Josina Anderson of KDVR in Denver. These updates are filled with 'inside sources' of course, but at this time of year, any news is better than no news!
So far, Anderson is reporting that Brandon Marshall has been spotted on the premises in Dove Valley -
Fox31’s Josina Anderson has learned from an inside source that wide receiver Brandon Marshall has been spotted on the premises, and his agent is in town.
While that is good news, and expected, the news on the Broncos' pair of first round picks - RB Knowshon Moreno and DE/LB Robert Ayers - is less optimistic -
At this hour this same inside source has yet to observe the arrival of running back Knowshon Moreno, and defensive end/outside linebacker
Robert Ayers.
The report goes on to give an update on contract talks between the team and Ayers -
As for a specific update on the Ayers’ current contract negotiations, a source with inside knowledge of the situation told Anderson Monday in the nine a.m. hour, "yeah, not looking good, still working, but we are still apart on it."
More to come, but it sure is fun to be talking football, even the contract negotiation kind!

Man,
I wonder if they’ll still show up, even if their contracts aren’t signed.
There is only One Moment—this moment—the Eternal Moment of Now
I don't think they can
My understanding is that they practice under a general contract (with protections) until training camp, at which time they MUST have a contract in place.

yeah...i think its against league rules.
liability alone would ensure that the Broncos would not allow either men on the practice field. They still have their playbooks I am sure…I hope….

Ah, bummer
Doesn’t sound like we’re looking at lengthy holdouts, however; still a lot of slotting left to go for most of the 1st round picks…it may take a few days to sort itself out.

True
This is the reality of the situation. The entire 1st round remains unsigned for all intensive purposes so everyone is waiting to figure out what their slot is going to be worth. This really isn’t a reflection on the Broncos but the NFL.
Tis better not to throw it to the deep receiver but the open receiver.
At least Marshall showed up...who knows, maybe with our two unsigned rookies not there,
they’ll negotiate with Brandon? Ya never know.

B Marsh showing up
is a good sign.

Josina should stick to writing
Because I can’t stand to see her on TV. She could be a very, very good reporter, though. She always seems to have inside information long before the newspaper people do.

It’s just rookie camp. If the 1st rounder are not here when the rest of the team shows up, then we should start to worry. That is when they would start to fall behind.
I'm not in panic mode.
Both are first round picks, and very few teams have their guys signed at this point.
Anyone want to chime in on the following?
1. When does each player sign?
2. Will either be a holdout?
My guess is that neither holds out, and at least one goes up to the final day.

There will be an avalanche of signings
of the first round picks this week. A few early and then more and more as the slots and money becme more defined. It’s not a problem and it won’t be a problem with these two and their attitudes.
This is the business end and its between the agnets and the GM. It has nothing to do with being a “holdout” at this point. I expect this will fall quickly and be over by the time the vets report.
His agent?
Maybe I’m reading too much into this, but what’s B-Marsh’s agent doing in town? I realize they feel they have a case to make, but the timing seems distasteful. Hope brandon’s there to play football, not stir the pot

I ahve been saying for weeks that I would not be surprised to see BM signed during the period before the veterans come in...

I read
on another post here at MHR that the hold up in signing the #1’s was Michael Crabtree. He was the #10 overall and wants #3 overall money. This is why we need a rookie salary cap in place.
As for Brandon’s agent being in town. I hope the Bronco FO hold firm on this one. Brandon has to show them he’s willing to work for a new contract.
