Horse Tracks 8/10/09 - Knowshon shows off some skills

Coach McDaniels threw Knowshon right into the mix during the rookie's first practice. The RB says he's studying the playbook hard and showing up early to do so, and McDaniels says Moreno will see some action during Friday night's preseason opener.

Some nice moves from Knowshon

As always, Knowshon speaks with a bounty of humility, perspective and intelligence.

The team will go through lots of details today at the Big IF in preparation for Friday's preseason opener. McDaniels says Mario Haggan got some first-team reps because other LBs were "loafing."

Veterans LaMont Jordan and Correll Buckhalter say the RBs have to keep sharp with positive attitudes if they're to make the most of their practice reps and earn playing time.

Personally, I'll at least wait to see him play in preseason games to care what the reports say on Kyle Orton's progress. As for Brandon Stokley, I think he should take a page out of Marvin Harrison's book and get to the ground after his catches; he's not going to run over people anyway.

DP - Krieger: Rivalry brews for Denver, Chicago
Hmm. So, because one of Krieger's buddies is a Bears fan, suddenly there's a rivalry between the two towns? I don't think so...while it will be interesting to see how JC does in Chicago, there's no rivalry there.

Thanks Nyc
I noticed that Al Michaels and Cris Collingsworth were heavily promoting the upcoming Bears vs. Broncos game last night. I’m not sure if the word rivalry was used, but it sure was implied.

Mornin Kap-n,
Last night during the game, Al & Chris talked to Dungy about cutler
and the Broncos. What was implid was not rivalry, but bordered on
stupidity, but then msm is as msm does…

Good Morning UB3
I liked what Dungy said,“If you consider him(Jake) a Franchise QB” regarding the trade. That Dungy is a class act. He didn’t bash anyone, but made an ideal accurate statement that was so Un PC, that it was PC.

I am glad SNF is promoting this game! It will be a great opportunity for everyone to see how foolish it is to be down on the Broncos! I just hope they do well that night!

Haggan running with the first team at LOLB??
Hmmm, hope this is just a wake up call to our new hybrids and not an indication of their level of play.

I'm not so sure, BM
I did a write-up on him back last November. Mario has always been a quality guy on the edge. The knock on him was simply that he wasn’t fast enough, and the 3-4 scheme minimizes that concern. He also had an old history of ankle issues that seem to be fully resolved now. Although he’s taken snaps at both MLB and Sam in the past, he’s a far more natural LOLB for this scheme. Given the fact that he’s always been a standout on ST and that he always seems to be around the ball, I’m looking forward to seeing if he can stay on top. If so, that might be more about him stepping up than anyone else not making the grade – he’s never quite found a good niche, but he’s always been a good player.

+1
Haggan has done some good things in the NFL. I’m not surprised he’s in the mix.

good to know
I was a little worried there for a minute. Hard to keep track of everyone on the roster these days. : )

To me...
Rivalries are created by fans, especially now with all the player movement. It isn’t the 70’s, when the Broncos and Raiders – players, coaches, trainers, fans – all hated each other.
That said, I could care less about the Chicago Bears, let alone any opponent we play in the Pre-Season. To say there is a rivalry is just wrong, period.

Why worry about Chicago when clearly Seattle is our biggest concern this year?

BTW
I am going to Camp again tomorrow. I’ve got to see Knowshon run, so I may end up staying up there and taking both practices. If anyone would like to meet up, or at least sit together and share observations, let me know.

Sure hope McDaniels has
Kornheiser and Schlereth’s quotes up on the bulletin board. If there’s any room left.
