Marshall Behind Gaffney on Depth Chart

I suppose it could just be because he hasn't been playing due to injury, but it seems a bold statement by McDaniels to have Brandon Marshall not listed as the designated #1 WR.

It will be interesting to see how B Marsh responds to this designation. I could see him going either way: pouting about it and getting upset, or taking it as a challenge and coming out and proving why he is a #1 receiver.

McDaniels has said that Brandon is watching film and attending all of the meetings, but he is really missing out on actual practice and getting chemistry with Kyle.

We knows that the Broncos will be using lots of Three-WR sets this year and that Royal and Gaffney are learning all of the positions. Is B Marsh? Is he having trouble learning the complex offense? His first year in Shanahan's offense he was not very effective....

I’m guessing this has to do with the injury and the tentative outcome of Thursday’s court date.

for this week

It’s cause of Orton’s poor deep pass. Try as he might, he just can’t throw past Des Moines even when BMarsh is wide open in Atlanta.

BMarsh isn't fast enough to get open down field. :P

Gaffney has been to every practice and knows the system…BMarsh tried to bluff his way to a contract, threatended to hold out, and missed several practices.

Of course he isn’t tops in the depth chart!

Also

Marshall is injured hasn’t had much time running with the team while Gaffney has been in offense a couple of years and is healthy.

Remember one thing...

Randy moss barely practiced his first TC in New England. There were even writers in Boston saying he may not make the team. All he did was break the record for most TDs in a season(23).

All I am saying is Josh knows what he has in Marshall. No need, for the sake of the fans and media, to run him out there. When camp is over, and the practices close down(except for the first 15 minutes) Marshall will make a miraculous comeback….

No need to worry about Marshall.

"What is Josh McDaniels doing in Denver?"

That was the question posed at the end of NFL live tonight… but it was a rhetorical question.

They were laughing as if that were the dumbest decision since Minnesota traded for Herschel Walker.

I dunno… the guy’s shown he isn’t able to stay healthy, even withouth the legal issues and the holdout. I think it would be hard to justify calling him the #1 without slighting those who are healthy and want to play for the Broncos.

With that said… The Donx will be spending most of the time in three receiver sets with the purpose of spreading the ball around- so where someone is on the depth chart is irrelevant as long as it’s 1, 2, or 3.

Eh...

This means nothing this early in the season

The MSM and troll poser fans are taking all the fun out of this.

This sets a record for ridiculous non-story. Dude can’t even play right now, so why ‘start’ him?

As much as I love the game, following it just isn’t even fun anymore.

I think I’ll just stick to watching the games. No more MSM. No more internet. No more none of it. And no offense to the MHR crew, or the regulars around here. This place is great, but you can’t stop the muck from oozing into everything.

I just can’t stand the constant parade of idiocy anymore.

Peace. Out.

Not to say "I told you so" (and not meant at the author)

In my article for the position breakdowns for MHR on receivers, I opined that it was possible for Marshall not to be listed as the #1 WR. Some folks thought I was out of my mind. Well…

That being said, Guru is right on several fronts. This is only a preliminary depth chart in the preseason, and has no meaning. These are often used as motivators, or to just throw a bone to the media and fans. Remember folks, put NO stock in a preliminary depth chart. Second, Marshall is injured, facing a legal case, and was a hold out threat. He’s not really in danger of dropping off the chart.

Relax everyone, and keep the preseason chart in the proper context.

Preseason is preseason.

so there has to be a chart of some sort. However when it comes to regular season games whether you are first or second, if you are open then chances are you will get the ball.
