Cutler expects say in Bears' roster....
Sounds like Jay is on his way to GMdom in year four.
When asked about having a say on the roster, he said:
"Oh yeah," Cutler said. "I think they're definitely going to ask me. If they don't ask me, I'm going to tell them what I think because I've got to be the one throwing to them on game day, and I've got to trust them. But (offensive coordinator) Ron (Turner) and I have been on the same page since the start of training camp in what guys we wanted to see working in with me and what guys have stepped up and what direction we want to go with this group."
I mean, one can't get a lot of yards without scoring a lot of points alone, right?

I also heard..
That he is responsible for selecting what scent the urinal cakes are in the men’s room
Cost Savings
Da Bears could save some serious money if they fire the GM and the assistant coaches on offense since Cutler could easily handle those roles.
Are you sure you wrote that qoute right???
There was no: “you know”!!! You must of wrote it down wrong, it’s imposible or the writer of the article deleted those words…you know.
haha
I think it’s like Bob Dole’s hand wave while speaking, Shanahan’s hair part, and Mr. T’s gold chains.
All so commonplace, your subconscious phases them out. They happen, but somehow the brain’s cortex doesn’t process them.
Or, maybe, his dad yelled at the writer to take them out.
Control issues
I seem to recall Jay wanting a say in which coaches got hired and which got fired in Denver. Part of wanting to keep Bates as the OC was his attempt to control the plays installed and then called on game day. Now he’s trying to meddle with the players roster. What’s next? What the guy really needs is his own team. If he plays long enough and makes enough money he may be able to pull it off. Look at Al Davis. He made it from coach to owner. How in the world did he do that?
Well, truth be told
He did tell Shanny and Bates last year that Royal had to be a part of the offense once he saw him return a kick or something. Don’t forget that if it wasn’t for Cutler, we’d still be lamenting the 2nd round pick on some smallish kick returner. What a waste!!
As well should be with any quarterback,
since they are the play callers. There input of who they want out there should be at least looked at very closely. The msm is just pumping up the volume on Cutler to say; see, see, we told you so, look how stupid McDaniels was to let a projected franchise quarterback get away.
Ok, now that made me laugh Donkhead.

I heard
Cutler told O’bama that he wanted Hilliary as the Secretary of State in stead of Bill.
"Sanity is the realization that everyone is insane to some degree." Me
But I thought....
It was the QB tha MADE the reciever. I mean, didn’t Cutler make Royal and Marshall what they are today? Wasn’t he going to single handedly make the Bear Wide outs better by just being there?
If all that is true, whe differnce does it make who is lined up there? Or maybe Jay isn’t god’s gift to recievers after all?
You All Forget About
When Cutler called the Nuggets’ front office and told them to trade for Billups.
Tis better not to throw it to the deep receiver but the open receiver.
He's also the one responsible for bringing Patrick Roy to Denver.

I'm not here to start any crap with you guys..
I have been dropping by on the DL for awhile and I think you guys have your ish together. But for the life of me I can’t understand why everything that comes out of Jay’s mouth gets run through the wringer over here. The man is fitting in wonderfully in Chicago. He has been nothing but a leader and a big help to the younger recievers. I would hope he has a couple wideouts that he feels comfortable with and is leader enough to speak up and say as much.
I’m sure if Kyle would have been giving the chance to start earlier in his stay in Chicago he would have spoke up about some of the garbage recievers the Bears have put on the field at times. I just see this as Jay being a leader on this team and wanting the best players on the field at the reciever position. This kind of thing happens every year with coaches calling players before they draft someone. Hell the Bills called Trent Edwards before they got TO.
If you're looking for a fair and unbiased
assessment of JC, may I suggest that this may be the wrong place to look…..

Syndor, we're (though not all of us) just having a little fun.
I can’t speak for anyone else, but the Broncos’ first pre-season game is in one day, and I (we) need something to jizz-jazz about in the meantime.
That said, after the trade, things cooled down and people moved along, but Jay just has a habit of being too “honest” sometimes. This is one of those occasions.
The comment in itself isn’t a big deal, but prior to McD’s hiring, Cutler actually thought he could tell Mr Bowlen which coach he should hire. So the receiver remark reminds us of this fact.
Also, Broncos fans have to take offence when a quarterback claims he “made” our team’s two best receivers. Leader or not, Jay must have some sorta ego to think Mike Shanahan drafted Eddie Royal to be a kick returner and would have kept him as such had Jay not “discovered” him.
And, again, we have to take offence when someone (regardless of who) debases the Broncos’ fanbase.
Well, basically, it’s little things like this that can’t help but throw the tiniest grain of sand at your eye. Honestly, though, I think a lot of people are just taking the mickey now (i.e. having fun with it), even if it’s not the entire fanbase, if there’s an excuse for some comedy, then what the heck? You know?

Forgiven :)
I can dig it. I appreciate the fact that he is honest and a little cocky. That’s something I as a Bear fan haven’t seen since Jimmy Mac. I don’t think I have ever heard him take credit for making your receivers who they are. That’s from the mouth of the media and fans. Although Eddie might have been brought in with the plans of being made into great reciever I’m sure no one expected what they got from him his rookie year. I live 20 mins from Va tech I see almost every game and no one around there saw the year he had coming.
He caught something like 40 balls the previous year.
I do see where you are coming from though. I get a little hot under the collar myself when everybody starts bashing Jay. Just like TO said " That’s my Quaterback. That’s not fair ".
Just to let you know I’m not a TO fan. I’ve used his name 3 or more times but I really think he’s an ass.
adding to your point Binary...
guys like Eddie Royal and Brandon Marshall would have been good regardless of who threw them the ball. Look at freaking Anquan Boldin and Fitzgerald. Before Kurt Warner rolled in, they were still making plays.
I wholeheartedly believe that the receiver makes the quarterback great, not the other way around. Eddie Royal would have been a star in this offense whether it was Jay Cutler throwing him the ball or Patrick Ramsey. Period.
“The good ones get out”. That’s a quote that comes to mind when I think of Eddie Royal and his talent. He would have shined no matter what. I suppose Cutler is going to take credit for Hillis’ success as well? After all, he did hand the ball to him last season.

totally agree joe
With very few exceptions, the recievers are the ones getting up, down, and diving for catches, and making them even if the throw was not very good…Who’s stats are directly affected…QB’s

Hmmm...
Like when the eagles called McNabb before drafting Kolb…
You can’t use that TO example to prove your point. You think Kraft and his brainkids called Tom Brady before getting Moss and Welker on the roster? This is more about attitude than communication.
Good points Syndor
Hi Syndor, you bring up good points. Believe me, most of us (myself included) were strong Cutler supporters up to the point he decided he didn’t want to be a Bronco anymore. As was mentioned in a post above, Jay was likely involved in certain personnel decisions related to the offense on the field, specifically Eddie Royal. But honestly, isn’t it the QB’s job to identify who the best playmakers are on the field and put the offense in a position to succeed? I don’t think Jay should be given too much credit for Royal and B-Marsh’s success because I don’t recall seeing Cutler in the war room on draft day. His job was to get the ball to the receivers so they can utilize their skill sets which were identified by the Broncos front office.
Cutler was a fine teammate here with his offense as well and I’m sure he helped his young receivers along during preseason as well. It wasn’t until the season progressed that we started to see what kind of teammate and leader Jay was. Just wait ‘til that critical pass gets dropped with less than 2 minutes to go. See what kind of teammate Cutler is then. If he pulls the same crap he pulled here (calling out his receivers, moping aloofly on the far side of the bench, etc) you’ll find yourself trying to justify his antics much like we did.
A lot of the vitriol being displayed through this post is a byproduct of the fact that Jay no longer wanted to be a Bronco. I for one am not going to rehash that to you but I think you should take some caution in describing Cutler’s leadership skills right now before the first preseason game is even played.
Sure, everything’s rainbows and unicorns right now…..but when the trials of the season set in, coupled with the mounting expectations coming from the country’s 3rd largest city, then you’ll see what kind of leader you have. I hope I’m wrong because I’d like to see the Bears succeed, but I just don’t see Jay measuring up to what you’re expecting. Sorry….
Thanks for your post. Come by anytime….we’re good people here.
Thanks
You guys seem more knowledgeable and down to earth than most I’ve come in contact with. As far as Jay getting in someones arse when they drop a ball he should. Hell he might have saved Rashied Davis from some of the flack he’s been getting. Don’t let Kyle fool ya though he will get into some arse himself.
I think this might dispute
the fine teammate impression some people have of Jay Cutler
The low point may have come in a November loss to the Raiders when Prater was 1-for-3 on field-goal attempts, and took an extreme sideline tongue-lashing from former Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler in what was a messy, season-crushing 31-10 loss to Oakland.
Prater has consistently said, including this week, that the blowup was “just one of those things,” that Cutler “wasn’t having a great game, I wasn’t having a great game, and other guys got it from him too. It was just everybody noticed mine.”
However, some players have privately said Prater tried to later talk to Cutler about the blowup only to be rebuffed and that he also had a difficult time with former Broncos special-teams coach Scott O’Brien’s evaluations of his work during the week.

That's really unfortunate too...
I really do like Prater. I don’t know much about him, but something about the guy just makes me like him. I’m really pulling for him to have a big year this year and beyond for us.
Peyton Hillis is also referred to in early Greek mythology by his other names such as Zeus or Poseidon.
so you would be fine..
If they also asked the recievers who they thought should be the starting QB? I mean, they do have to catch what the guy throws and then take the hits when he stretches them out over the middle. They should have some say in who that person is right?
This is a humorous post, but it was the same Cutler who took credit for allegedly making the recievers what they are. If you listen to his prior interiviews, he could make any rookie into an Eddie Royal.
Of course, Royal’s ability to run routes and get seperation must have been due to Cutler too, right? The problem with Cutler “getting comfortable” with certain recievers, is that he then locks in on those recievers and starts forcing throws to them instead of looking for more open guys who he isn’t as “comfortable” with.
The coaches are the ones who design the offense and determine the routes. They are well aware of who is doing their job and who isn’t. If they are not, they need to be gone. They should be able to determine all by themselves who the best recievers on the team are for a given play or given situation. Cutler just needs to get the ball to whoever is out there instead of worrying about the personalities.
As to being a leader, what do you think the recievers are thinking now? Do any of them wonder now if they are pleasing the QB along with doing their jobs as the coaches have outlined it?
I heard Cutler was Lamar Hunts mentor...
when the AFL merged over. That’s just what I heard. Also he invented Franks Red Hot.

Part of me thinks it's sordid
to keep paying attention to this guy’s every irrelevant utterance (you know?) but another part of me can’t help it either…
"Remember, it's only a game."
I can't wait for a few years from now
when every piece of Cutler news isn’t plastered all over the Broncos pages. He’s a Bear. He’s their problem.
Not ours.
I thought you knew that algebra was all razzamatazz. A Globetrotter always saves the good algebra for the final minutes.
Sorry if this has been gone over,
I didn’t check over here when it happened, but how ticked were you guys when Cutler was talking trash about the Denver fans at training camp?
I wasn't at any camps this year..
but from a fans standpoint, I really can’t say I expected any different from him. I am not an apologist by any means, especially with Cutler. But I understand why he said it. I think it was meant to appeal to Chicago’s fans more than anything. I think he was buttering up the fans just to make himself look better to them. I think there was a little ill will towards Denver in there, but not nearly as much as people made it out to be. I can’t expect him to be any more adult than that though. His well documented feuds with Rivers and his “poor me” attitude during games really speaks to his character—or lack thereof.

Agreed!
When I heard that on the radio, I thought of my buddy who is a Broncos fan and knew he’d be steamed. The Franks Red Hot line is still making me laugh.
That was a great line
