Chiefs worked out Ashley Lelie today. Any info you all can give us on him?

Some good, a lot of bad
Lelie’s always been a “me-first” kind of guy, but he is a hell of a deep threat. He never has had much game outside of the deep ball, though. I remember one year, I think 2005, he had something like 35 catches, and half of them were over 40 yards (though, some would say, Jake Plummer couldn’t throw the deep ball at all; go figure). He is a freakish athlete with a bad work ethic and a ridiculously high opinion of himself.
I can’t remember what year it was exactly when he was traded. I think it was 2006, but, then again, it may have been 2007. He was holding out or wanting to be traded, and I can distinctly remember Mike Shanahan being almost at a loss for words: “I might understand it if teams were beating down the door to get him, but nobody’s called us.”
"Speak softly and carry a big (hockey) stick." - Theodore Roosevelt
I remember
Lelie making some plays for Us…. Then I also do remember him making some plays for the Raiders (unfortunately some against Us), so he is definitely a talent, but as wt mentioned – there are character issues….
First team to three consecutive SB wins!!!! and then some, right? I think four and we oughtta let someone else have a fair shot : )

The lowdown on Lelie wanting a trade
The Broncos signed Javon Walker in 2006. Lelie, seeing this signing as a threat, decided rather than competing with Walker to be the #1 receiver he would hold out for a trade. Alas, he ended up with Atlanta and has bounced around every year since.
The truly ironic thing is that he ended up playing with Walker again in Joakland after Walker became disgruntled and threatened by an up and coming Brandon Marshall (besides the fact that Walker has publicly stated he was traumatized by the shooting death of his friend and teammate, Darrent Williams, in his arms and probably needed a change of scenery)
He is a nice deep threat, but inconsistent as stated above.
Lady, you want me to answer you if this old airplane is safe to fly? Just how in the world do you think it got to be this old?

Both optimists and pessimists contribute to the society. The optimist invents the aeroplane, the pessimist the parachute.

Your report mentions the word "underwhelming" . . .
and that’s quite the understatement in my opinion.
I was excited when we drafted him all those years ago, having seen how good he was at Hawaii and thinking he could bring that talent with him from the islands. It turned out he didn’t have the head for the role Coach Shanahan wanted him for, nor the intestinal fortitude to get things done consistently.
I think of him the same way I think of “My Boy” Brandon Lloyd . . . certainly talented, but does he have the desire? Also, at this point, it’d be a low-risk move.
One day, David Backes and Albert Pujols will combine forces to become the most awesome piece of violent force known to man.
He's a waste.....
if you want to sign him, knock yourself out.
