Hahaha you and I said it at the exact same time.
I did a fanshot claiming “first” but apparently it’s a tie!
Good for Vick. I’m happy for him.

At least THAT is settled.

"No, I'm from Iowa, I only work in outer space."
Not such a dumb question here...
As a QB? Some thinking goes that any deterioration of his skills (and passing was never a strong suit) might make him open to a change in position. For example, it isn’t terribly rare for a college QB to come into the NFL as a WR (for example).
I wish him the best, and feel he’s done his time and paid his debt. Still, I can’t get worked up for him either.

I could see Vick being their emergency running back
Hell, maybe he’ll even take on some return duties this year. He’s a versatile guy to say the least. I hope he does well.

Well, look at that team...
One, Kolb’s banged up a bit for the Eagles and Feely’s been looking horrible in camp.
However, if you’re a fan of the wildcat, just plain speed and/or match-up problems, you’ve got DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, LeSean McCoy, Brian Westbrook, Mike Vick, and Donovan McNabb on the field together at the same time…woah. He doesn’t even have to be QB for that group of guys to excel.
Why sign Vick when they already have McNabb???????
"When you put on that jersey, the name on the front is more important than the name on the back." - "Miracle".
"Winning means you're willing to go longer, work harder, and give more than anyone else." - Vince Lombardi.
Actually he's the perfect backup to McNabb
When Vick came into the league he was compared to McNabb, they have similar skill sets and McNabb could probably help Vick become a much better player. Remember Vick needs to restore his credibility as an NFL player, not be a star yet.

Exactly
Given Philly as a town, Michael Vick should have an easier time staying low there than he would in Dallas or anywhere else they were talking about. I know Philly’s not a farm town by any means, but he’ll have a chance to really lock himself into the playbook and work on getting better without any stupid outside interferences.

I read this on a different message board.
“What a great fit! The PETA protesters wouldn’t dare show up in South Philly”
How true is that?!?!

Now he just has to wait for McNabb to leave/retire.
…..or be a RB/WR. He would jell on ST for returning with his speed.

And do so.

Give Simms $3mil not play
and Orton $995,000 to play? Something wrong with that equation PJBGF.

And it just goes to show even moreso, what a ethical/stand-up/bad a$$ person he is.

Good news and Bad news.
The good news is that while just watching the nfl network on the internet I heard one of the commentators say that the Vick signing is the biggest story of the offseason. I would guess that takes some heat off the Broncos offseason extravaganza.
The bad news is that Vick went to my second, although distant, favourite team. I’m just not feeling it. I can’t see Vick not being a distraction to a team that does not need a distraction at the qb position, not to mention Philadelphia being a big media market.
It could have been a lot worse for him.
Dallas.

You...
….just want him as far away from your second favorite team as possible.

the only good thing about this
is that he’s not a Bronco. Philly is now my least favorite team.

People really don't change that much in their life and their values.
While everyone should be given the opportunity to change and improve, my observation is that most people change very little over the course of their lifetime. Someone who would run a dog fighting ring may express remorse, but I have serious doubts that they’ve had a true change of heart or adjustment of their values. Scrutiny may lead people to say the right things, but are they really changed? His behavior was so reprehensible to normal people that it seems unlikely he has undergone some profound transformation that isn’t cynically related to getting back to football by saying the politically correct things.

I have heard in the same sense that zebra's don't change their stripes either.
One thing I thought for sure was, is that PETA would be up in arms about this. I haven’t heard a peep out them, has anyone else?

Vick has agreed to do a series of pro ASPCA, pro PETA slots
The president of PETA has said that they aren’t going to boycott him while he’s enriching their gameplan.

Punishment and pain can bring about change, I think Vick has experienced both.
While the “carrot” keeps people motivated, it’s the “rod” that produces a change in behavior.
I no longer have a desire to touch electric outlets or see if the stove is hot, why? Because I figured out at an early age that both bring about pain. I do not like pain, so my behavior changed. The same philosophy applies when my girlfriend asks me which dress looks better. I have learned from previous punishment to avoid this situation altogether.
Hopefully, Vick is smarter than I give him credit for and realizes that his actions brought about his punishment and pain. If so, I believe he can move on from his mistakes. That does not make him a great QB (I never really liked the guy), but he has fulfilled his duties to the court and if the Eagles want to give him a chance, I believe he is entitled to it.

WOW!!!
I for one am happy for Vick. He did a terrible thing, and he paid his debt for it. He lost 2 years of his life, and millions of dollars. I have seen terrible people change their ways, and I know it can happen for him. None of us know him, or what he has gone through mentally and emotionally (however deserved it was) so to wish him I’ll will is ridiculous. The Eagles are your least favorite team now…AJF you’re disappointed in the NFL? Who the F are you guys to judge someone? Brandon Marshall is on trial today for allegedly beating a woman, and all I hear out of people is “I hope he gets off so we can have him on the field.” Let the man try to resume his life, and prove that he has put it behind him. I have 4 rescued animals in my family, and I am a strong animal advocate, but I am willing to give him a second chance. Get over yourselves, and let him move on with his life!

I agree.
No one has any right to judge him. He’s paid his debt and he deserves a chance. Obviously he legitimately means that he’s sorry. Today Commish laid down a full year suspension for Stallworth. It’s clear that Roger Goodell doesn’t play around with people that do stupid things. Before this incident, Michael Vick had zero incidents. This happened and I don’t agree with what he did at all, but obviously he means it when he says he’s changed. I think a guy like Goodell would see right through him if he were lying. I really hate PETA activists for a lot of reasons, but them wanting VIck banished from the land is a pure disgrace. What he did was illegal, but he paid his debt and didn’t buy his way out of it like Stallworth did. So, where does he go from here? The man paid his debt, and he deserves to live and have the freedoms that we all do. Period.
Peyton Hillis is also referred to in early Greek mythology by his other names such as Zeus or Poseidon.
Not exactly true:
Before this incident, Michael Vick had zero incidents.
He was caught with marijuana once, and on another occasion, with a Whizzinator, which he apparently felt he needed to pass a drug test.
Worse, though, was the way that he repeatedly lied to Falcons owner Arthur Blank, one of the very good guys in the NFL. Blank had repeatedly tried to help Vick and all he got in return was bs. Vick also lied repeatedly to the NFL.
He felt like the man who drew the first circle. Perfect, and complete.
have you ever heard of Ron Mexico?
Bradley’s right. Michael Vick is Brandon Marshall’s evil twin. There’s a pattern of antisocial behavior that goes way back.
Check out the Ron Mexico stories. If you haven’t heard, Vick allegedly adopted the pseudonymn “Ron Mexico,” then had unprotected sex with women while he knowingly had herpes. In the process, he infected them.
Who would do that? What kind of selfish jerk would do that to another person? What kind of selfish jerk would set up rape stations on his dog-fighting compound? What kind of selfish jerk would hang dogs or electrocute them? Or take out their teeth so they couldn’t defend themselves?
I’ll tell you what kind of selfish jerk: A evil one.

illegal?
What he did was illegal…
Uh, yeah. Technically. But it was beyond illegal. To label what he did as “illegal” draws a comparison between his crimes and those of speeders. Feel free to use stronger, more accurate adjectives. Like “disgusting.”

big problem
Who the F are you guys to judge someone?
Who am I? I’m someone who believes in the transparence of right and wrong and of good and evil. In my opinion, the attitude and philosophy that your question represents is antisocial. And before you go there, please spare me the moral relativism or contextualism. I’ve been there and done that.
I can’t decide what I find more revolting: Michael Vick’s actions or some people’s willingness to tolerate them.
I tolerate a wide range of behaviors and typically don’t judge people. But I can’t understand how anyone would be willing to forgive such cruelty. I’m not a bleeding heart, a tree hugger or PETA supporter. But I am anti-cruelty. And Vick’s behavior was beyond despicable. It was pure, deliberate evil.
And I believe that once someone deliberates on evil that extensively, rehabilitation is in doubt. Certainly not within 23 months.
As for giving him a second chance, I’m all for it. Give him the same second chance that all felons get: Flipping burgers. There are a wide range of professions that exclude felons. My understanding is that Bernie Madoff will never hold another securities license. Why? He’s a felon.
Of course, with unemployment nearing 10% and many law-abiding, non-dog fighting citizens out of work, I’m open to him going without a job too.
But who will guard the guards themselves?
