The jury has declared Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall not guilty of misdemeanor battery charge.

So now Brandon Marshall is a Broncos receiver, free and clear. And according to an NFL source: Marshall’s hip is healthy. He is expected to return to the practice field this week. The Broncos’ next practice, the first after their preseason game tonight at San Francisco, is Sunday.
Can you say... Thank god

I know it's bad form to reply to your own posts
but, I did manage to delete my fanpost announcing the same thing. However, as I stated there, I’m hoping this and his previous brushes scare some sense into this guy’s head. There’s no question that his presense on the field can make a big difference in this offense, both on the primary and secondary level. I also think that IF, he can keep his nose clean, demonstrates productivity on the field and positive attitude off the field, and the hip (I’m pretty concerned about this) is OK, then the team should and will offer up an incentive laden contract. Go Broncs!
It's "just" football

The kid has some growing up to do,
this may be Marshall’s year if you remember Randy Moss’ 23 TD’s in his first year under McDaniels’ offense. 13-3 Baby!!!

OTL report
Too bad ESPN will probably not do a follow up from their last report where they made him appear to be in the wrong, only attention it will get is a 5 sec spot on sportscenter most likely.

Then it's settled
I didn’t get screwed on my fantasy draft when I got Marshall (I also got Larry Fitzgerald and Eddie Royal)
He better tow the line
I have supported him thru all his crap, but I am so over him. He needs to grow up and now. He is lucky. By no means do I think he is innocent anymore. He just had reasonable doubt on his side. I wish him luck in the future
somethings wrong, Trying to conquer these fears i thought were gone. And it's been so long, I'm dying to live in a world i don't belong

Great news!
From what I’d been reading about the testimony, I feared the worst….

Alright Brandon, keep your nose clean,
& snag around 50 balls by mid-season, and Pat will be hard pressed to not give you a new contract. IMHO

So the jury was out for maybe 90 minutes

You're probably right
What it means, to me, is that they spent a reasonable amount of time going over what they had heard in the courtroom, and then were all on the same page about the NG verdict. If there had been a split, they’d have argued among themselves longer, until one side caved in to the other side so they could get out of there and get on with their weekend. It’s 4:30 or so now in Georgia.

from the DP:
On the prosecution side, Jamie Mack replaced Robert Benbridge to deliver a 25-minute closing argument. Mack focused on how there was undisputed evidence of injuries as the seven pictures of Watley’s injuries were consistent with Watley’s testimony.
Mack then paid a backhanded compliment to Steinberg’s courtroom style by telling the jury: ""Don’t be blinded by the smokescreen that has been presented to you."
Smokescreen? Well, the jury has spoken. Sounds like the defense team was able to create plenty of doubt in the plaintiff’s credibility. Here’s to hoping at least that there was a scare and Brandon can truly have the year we know he can – focused on football and winning; and hope he can – being a good dude during the week.
I hope I am as wrong about McDaniels as I was right about this outcome.
Go Broncos.
Love the Broncos, don't like their Coach.

As I said on the other thread...
I don’t know if props are due to anyone. If this trial proved nothing else, it showed that both Wately and BMarsh are semi-despicable morons in the way they both behaved and in the decisions they both made.
I agree with the verdict as there was enough doubt to negate a conviction. But if anyone thinks he is innocent of being a woman beater and an idiot, they are looking through a very wierd filter.
But i am grateful its over and I hope with all I have that he has finally learned his lesson and will grow up and be a man. But that is only a hope and not one backed with a lot of confidence that he actually can do such a thing.
