The stats aren't that bad...overall our defense is much improved, but then again we are playing the 49ers
Verbose in style, dispersion of thought, procrastination in life.
It's alright.. there are 30 more minutes to get the offense straightened out

There is four more weeks to get the O straightened out. And it will take a lot of work on our QB. The rest of the O looks pretty good. O-line and WRs look fine and Moreno looked good too.
QB play was terrible and teams with bad QB play lose far more games than they win.
Love the Broncos, don't like their Coach.
Stop being a tool.
Orton looked great except on the picks. I know I sound like an apologist, but it’s the FIRST F*****G GAME OF THE F*****G PRESEASON. You’re going to base your opinion of the player on THAT? Get over yourself, tool.
No stairway... Denied!
It's the first HALF of the first GAME of the PRESEASON
"Really, I'm a high-motor guy. Tough, hard-nosed, a hard runner, can make you miss at times. And just competitive. I love to play the game and I bring that energy to my team. So, we'll see how that goes." - Knowshon Moreno
Knowshon Moreno=ROY
Okay. Orton looked F*ing great, F*ing awesome really. 32 QB rating and three picks in one half. F*ing awesome. Esp the last pick, which was a weak deep pass.
Does that make you feel better.
Love the Broncos, don't like their Coach.
You are a toll
you give some good feedback sometimes but most of your stuff is just bashing the broncos
by gnarlybroncodude on Aug 14, 2009 9:32 PM MDT up reply actions
This is a completely NEW offense
I do not expect him to be great in the first preseason game in a brand NEW system. Orton ran the system well, connected on some good throws and made a few bad decisions. It is not time to say he sucks like you did. That is jumping to conclusions before you let everything play out. By no means has he looked perfect but he has not been horrible either. He has looked good and bad. You are being completely NIAVE saying he has looked completely horrible
by gnarlybroncodude on Aug 14, 2009 9:45 PM MDT up reply actions
No.
Now you’re being a baby. I say grow up, and learn to accept that there is still a MONTH before the season starts for Orton to work on this and get better. Am I worried? Yeah, a little. But I’m not going to go all “woe is us” and post it all over the interwebs like you, tool.
No stairway... Denied!
I think you miss the picture McGeorge
You are already cutting Orton’s throat based upon the 1st half of the 1st pre-season game. Do you understand offense? This is entirely new to him and his receivers. How do you know that the receivers didn’t run the wrong routes? Do you know? Really? Come on . . . any knowledgeable football fan knows that the offense takes time to master . . . even Shanahan says it takes at least 3 years for a QB in his system to see success. Give it break!
"The men who have done big things are those who are not afraid to attempt big things, who were not afraid to risk failure in order to gain success."

dude McGeorge
has hated Orton from DAY ONE so it does not surprise me
by gnarlybroncodude on Aug 14, 2009 9:33 PM MDT up reply actions
No. I just really disappointed in his reaction to his first pick. He showed me something tonight. He showed me he gets rattled and falls apart. That won’t serve him well in week 8.
Love the Broncos, don't like their Coach.
Wait.
You want Jay back? Look at tape of him pouting after every pick. Orton didn’t do that.
No stairway... Denied!
This is from the last thread and got cut off, but it still applies here....
But….
McGeorge thinks Peterson and McBean look good, but, shockingly, has a douche bag comment for someone who even attempts a dialogue with him and offers an opinion about another playing doing well that he disagrees with (which was about Fields, not Orton). I know, I know… McGeorge disagreeing with a positive comment….what a shocker.
And then offers up more a-hole sarcasm below.

You comments prove
you have no idea what you are talking about. Orton looked good except for a few bad passes
by gnarlybroncodude on Aug 14, 2009 9:28 PM MDT up reply actions
He looked great on the 1st drive until he threw a red zone pick that was both a bad decision and an inaccurate pass.
He looked pretty bad the rest of the way. Got worse every drive.
Love the Broncos, don't like their Coach.
GREAT....
so say that instead of letting your obvious disdain for Orton (sometimes justified, sometimes not) taint all of your comments on him.

I like Orton. Want him to do well. I don’t like McDaniels and I am missing Cutler after watching KO play like GARBAGE after his 1st pick.
I was missing Bubby after the 3rd pick. That was a horrible pass. Weak arm that I fear.
Love the Broncos, don't like their Coach.
Fair enough

Agreed
It’s not like Orton was under pressure. I thought he threw off his back foot too much. His arm is too weak not to push off his back foot better.
What you CAN expect the second half:
Our team will actually keep playing, which is a welcome change from last year.

I saw him continue to look confident and lead the huddle . . . something I would have NEVER seen from Cutler. In my book, that is improvement!

I know. His teammates looked thrilled. I really saw them rally around Orton.. What game are you watching?

The Broncos game
I saw an offense that is still learning. Nobody was upset; they were going over mistakes, working through issues.
But I’m sure you’ll find away to make communication and learning seem like a problem.
"Don't feed the trolls. Remember to be polite. And please show self-restraint in comment length!" -Me, to myself, because I need constant reminding.
I think McD will leave Orton in there for a while. And I hope so. The more reps he gets, the more he can improve.
I have to say im pretty excited from what I’ve seen from the Defense. It could have been much worse.

it's a little disheartening, for sure.
But I believe that we will learn from it and get better because of it. At the very least, let’s just be thankful that it’s the first preseason game and not our opener against Cincy. There is still time folks. I for one am not going to jump ship because of three interceptions. The rest of the team looks pretty solid to me, which is something to be happy about.
Take my advice, I'm not using it !!!

I am extremely impressed
They are getting pressure on the QB and collapsing the pocket. Run D has been stout. Fields looks like he can definitely handle the double team. I am pleased with his performance. If Baker shows to be just as stout, we will have 2 solid NT’s. Makes me very happy.

You know what?
Maybe..just maybe…this is all part of McD’s masterplan. He;s letting Orton go out there, throw as many INT as possible, make us the laughing stock of the NFL, and once the regular season starts, nobody takes us seriously, and we’ll crush our opponents!!!

I am not worried at all. these are all mistakes that can be fixed by watching tape and some coaching

I have eyes
and they’ve seen 3 interceptions . . . and he wasn’t pressured . . . and his arm looks weaker than I expected
not mine
I am feeling good about D, hope they get a little stouter against run. Moreno looks AWESOME, hitting all the right holes unlike Jordan and Buckhalter and his burst is great. Offense is moving around and showing great life, Orton just has made some mistakes which I think he can overcome through practice.

Heard that
Amazing to think that new players in a new offense might have miscommunication. Perhaps that’s why the offense spent a good bit of time on the sidelines going over the miscues.
But that probable makes me a homer kool-aid drinker, right?

Like I said before . . . How do we know it wasn’t the receiver who ran the wrong route? This may not be all of Orton’s fault. Come on people . . . we are better fans than that.

Biggest concern right now should be Moreno
Not Orton. Not the simple playing calling for Simms. Nothing.
Let’s all cross our fingers and hope we get out of this game without any more injuries

I love how you all think a guy is good when he makes a good play on defense against the 2nd/3rd string offense, but when SIMMS throws for a TD, u say he isnt that good and it was against the 2nd/3rd string defense….
inconsistent much?

Adversity
When you think about where we ended up last year and where we are now, could you ask for any more adversity? I’m telling you guys, we’re a Cinderella team waiting to happen this year. A big, aggressive, ugly, tough Cinderella team.

Gary Miller is insufferable!
For those in Denver watching the local CBS 4 broadcast. Reggie Rivers, eh. But Gary is just God awful. I wish 850 KOA synced up better with the game so I could hear Dave Logan instead.

At least a competitive one. And Orton will get things figured out. He’s been around and has too much experience with extremely competent coaches to let this be a harbinger of things to come. I’m actually liking the overall feel of our team.

I think..
by the time the season starts and we have our full compliment of HEALTHY (and I can’t stress that enough) players that we’ll be a solid club. Our D appears to be playing well overall, and Baker looks good, grant it against 2nd and 3rd stringers. He still has good burst and quickness. If he develops he is going to be a monster.
Take my advice, I'm not using it !!!
Our whole team looks unlimited in potential
i am very excited to see as thegame is progressing the secondary units are forming a cohesive drive go offense go broncos
Lloyd AGAIN

I wonder why they had Orton throw so many passes compared to Simms?
Simms seems to be running a vanilla offense. Do you think McDaniels was putting Orton under the gun deliberately?

Those were bad INT’s, no doubt. But good grief, Charlie Brown. It’s game 1 of the preseason. It’s going to be okay. Hear it now, Simms will not be the starting QB for the Broncos. Orton will be fine and things will smooth out over the next month. It’s like we’ve never seen a preseason game before. lol
