Critique: Denverbroncos.com

For those of you who have clicked around, Denverbroncos.com is without a doubt a premiere NFL official team site.  I've wandered over to other team sites and ones that are on par with "ours" (lest we confuse it with the awesomeness of MHR) are hard to find.  I gotta say that I LOVE the Broncos TV features, especially the recaps of each day of training camp....

Having graduated film school oh so many years ago, I would like to impart a peice of criticism that I recieved back in those carefree days (of back to back Bronco Superbowls)...   You can't have so many things tacked on to your "feature presentation" that it usurps what you're trying to say. What am I saying?  I'm saying that I can't handle the two minute Comcast commercial for something I can't get here in LA anyway only to be followed by the 1 minute opening guitar rock highlight thing that's done (it's great, but not every time I load a video).  By the time I burn through the three+ minutes of opening crap to get to the Training Camp Day 2 Highlights, I'm more than halfway through the length of the broadcast media and I feel robbed.

Denverbroncos.com - you're doing great work.  Andrew Mason had the charisma of a cantelope and you done good there (I was nervous he was dismissed at first, but things seems to run smoother in the AV department these many months since).  I urge you DB.com... Please... Figure something out to make your peices as long as the useless ads/intro that you place in front of them.  Times have changed, you can put larger format peices on there. I  know you're capable and now that you've got our attention, do more with it!!!

J

P. S. CBS4 - You need to put more of your material online too.  I got the text alert (what I affectionately call the 66247 communique) about some half hour training camp show being broadcast in Denver... What's say you put at least a portion of it online for those of us who represent the home team away from home.  The fact that there's not even one clip from these specials is just a travesty.  As the Denver affiliate, I'm expecting you to do better.... Oh... and while I'm at it... more Gary Miller and less Vic Lombardi - I watch you on the DirectTV sports package and I get the feeling that Lombardi is the type of guy that's trying to score with your sister. Yeah, it's that kind of smarmy - I rock the tanning bed three times a week - vibe I get from him... eew.

I found this

to be true when I’ve done research on other teams. The Redskins preview post that I did proved it to me. I’ve done some research for a preview on the Panthers(I’m not sure I will post it because we don’t play them this year) and the Redskins have a better site hands down. The Broncos have the best coverage because their fans demand it. Face it, we NEED our Bronco fix. Lol

About Broncos tv and the Comcast commercials....

Why have the commercial and allow us the capability to fast forward through it?

Also, why is it such a Monopoly?? Shouldn’t EVERY cable company be able to offer their own version of the Sunday Ticket, wouldn’t that just allow the NFL to make more money as well?

On that note, I always thought they should release every game of every season (for each team) on DVD, like buying seasons of a show…. Would not, they make a killing?!?

Thanks for the post Jezru, it’d be nice if someone who could do something about it, read it.

First team to three consecutive SB wins!!!! and then some, right? I think four and we oughtta let someone else have a fair shot : )

+1

I’d buy every season!

It's Orange Crush time. And no I am NOT talking about the soft-drink.
Which I beg the question: "Can liquid really be... soft?"

3 TE Set = 3 losses or less.

Do it MickeyD... 13-3!!

That would have to be more profitable

than NFL replay on NFLN, right? How much would a DVD set cost? 24 episodes of “24” cost about…what…60.00 new? I’d expect to pay over $100 for a whole season of football. I’d pay over $200 if I could choose my announcers in the “special features” edition. LOL

I think the time it'd take to edit all that film is probably why they don't do it...

It’s no doubt that NFL Films has a great staff putting together their films, but to do a full 16 games for 32 teams would be brutal to say the least. They wouldn’t come out until the next season starts and by then, it’d be too late to make a respectable profit on them.

I don't know about anyone else

But I’d still buy a good amount of them (not all, mind you)

But it seems like they should at least take the super bowl winner from every year, and release that entire season, including Post-Season. I imagine those would sell perpetually… That’d be awesome to dub out the TV announcers and just have Dave Logan and Co. as the announcers!

NFLN already has edited versions of the games on NFL replay.

You can fast-forward

I learned a trick because I’m equally tired of the commercial. I leave the mute button on, give it a few moments and just ‘grab’ the little button that shows how far into the article you are and gently slid it forward until you’ve passed the commercial, at which point I turn the mute off and enjoy the article. It’s a pain, but small compared to listening to that theme music yet again, and again, and….

Yeh,

Actually I pointed that out, I was wondering why they give us the ability to FF through the advertisement at all..

Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad we are able to as well, so am greatful they let us FF… It just seems counter-intuitive from the advertiser’s perspective, to not have the commercial be mandatory.
= )
