Alphonso Smith
As a bronco fan in Southern California, its hard to actually see one of our games on tv unless were playing the raiders or chargers. I havent been able to watch the preseason games outside of the first few drives so far, so I was wondering, how is Smith doing? Has he gotten any meaningful snaps yet? thanks for the update in advance. Also, sorry if there has been an update on him on MHR that I haven't read, I looked around and didnt really find anything. thanks again.

Hard to say how he is doing
Smith has had some decent playing time. The first preseason game featured a pretty impressive pass breakup deep down the field. Other than that I haven’t seen much of him. The entire defense has failed to record a turnover. However, I haven’t seen him get burned badly either. Like offensive linemen, sometimes no news is good news. I don’t think people have really thrown his way, or picked on him so I think he has probably covered his man quite well this far.

Looks dangerous returning punts
In the SF game, he looked like he was about a half step away from breaking some of those punt returns, and he got good yardage to boot. This weekend, he was a little more shaky, but he’s a rookie. I think that’s to be expected. Overall, I think he’s on track and will develop into a dangerous DB and KR/PR.

Phonz has been returning punts and kick offs in camp.
He has also practiced in place of Champ when he took some practices off or as a backup. He has been practicing as the nickel back on 1st and 2nd teams. He is a quick young man and will contribute this year. He really looks like a keeper. If you haven’t read it, there is a “Tales” article on Alphonso, by BroncoBear that is very insightful. Here is the link.
