Hey guys. Im playing Fantasy Football for only my 2nd time this year and this time I will be playing for a considerably large amount of money. Because of this, i just participated in 2 free live drafts on ESPN.com to prepare myself. I realized that i must get more prepared during the later rounds. In any case, I am gong to post my 2 rosters and if you have any advice for me, please share. Also of course, which one is a better team! Thanks.

QB: MATT RYAN AND TRENT EDWARDS

WR: BRANDON MARSHALL, TJ HOUSHMANZADEH, DEVIN HESTER, PERCY HARVIN, JABAR GAFFNEY, BRANDON STOKLEY

They look pretty rough

Roster 2 is definately better than #1 but they both would leave me pretty scared.

Your QBs are pretty weak. Romo is pretty good but he is missing TO and now relying on Roy and Witten. That makes me cautious. Edwards, proven bust, Ryan and Flacco bith 2nd year guys, I always avoid 2nd year QBs. Look to proven starters that may have had an upgrade in their system somehow. Schaub, Orton, Hasselb(if you think he’ll stay healthy), Rivers, Palmer, Rodgers. Dont get stuck picking your starting QB beyond the 4th round.

WRs STAY AWAY FROM MARSHALL AND PERCY!!! There are HUGE warning signs on these two guys. AJ-Stud, Gaffney and Stokes-no. They aren’t a consistent contributer. TJ-pretty good #2, Hester a big risk. It looks to me like of all the WRs youve got, you only have 1 #1. Not good. Look for pure #1s even if they aren’t bigtime recievers. ie. Josh Morgan, Eddie Royal, Avery(before he got hurt) etc.

RBs-You look pretty solid at RB. Look for a guy that may end up starting like Mendenhaul,

I agree with most of this

I’m not sure if roster two is that much better, as roster one is so much more solid at RB (top two spots). Portis is going late due to injury concerns. Do yourself a favor and trade him after three weeks when his value should be sky-rocketing. You’ll get great value and people will have forgotten why he went at like number 11 – but then you’ll not have to worry about him breaking down later.

Roster one is loaded with Bronco receivers, that could, in and of itself, cost you a game during the by-week. I’ve got three fantasy teams, and Palmer, I think, was available in like round five or six. Your QB’s are pretty weak, especially in roster one. You’ll probably want to improve there. Maybe through a… Oh, wait, I just realized, you said these were mock drafts right?

Ok, I think Palmer is a good value QB. Look at his stats previous to last year. He’s pretty consistant and can be taken in like round 4-5. You seem to draft RB heavy and your WR’s hurt in the process. Marshall is a big question mark, and might not play right away. I also would steer clear. But that is Royal’s gain. Derick Ward and Felix Jones are the two RB’s I look to around 60, or so. Look them up, ton of up side. Ward can be this year’s Michael Turner and Jones averaged like five yards a carry last year – and should see a lot more carries this year (and Barber gets injured a lot).

When drafting in the 80’s, or so, the thing to remember is upside. You have to have backups, sure, but you also want to take a chance on a rookie here or there. Rookie RB’s have the best chance at immediate impact. WR’s are more of a toss up. As for WR’s, I like Berrian to really breakout and outperform his draft ranking. He’s got Farve throwing to him now, and he’s been a deep threat putting up big numbers – without a guy who can throw well deep.

Many may not agree, but I draft a kicker and defense on my last two picks. I pick whoever is going against the Lions or another bad team. Drop and do it again the next week. Some weeks won’t work out, but I average top points on defense & kickers just by playing the matchups.

Anyway, just thought I’d throw my two cents out there. Take them as you will. Good luck in your game!

All good points.

I really hope you and i dont end up playing each other:)

Go for Butler from Seattle if you can. I'd dump Crabtree for him.

You saw how he was carving us up last night. Crabtree is a bust and won’t do anything even if he does sign this year.

Beefy

I’m not thrilled with your RBS but strong none-the-less

by Kdo09 on Aug 23, 2009 8:11 PM MDT up reply actions

the crap part is that I didn't even get to pick my players...

I missed the draft and my email notification didn’t happen. I might try dropping Bush if someone drops a RB in the first week or two.

Pretty solid first two RB's

OK QB, but I would be a little concerned about your WRs. I also have Nate Washington as a possible sleeper.

I agree

Look for some sleeper help at WR. Braylon could hurt you but I actually like Chad this year.

Same thing

Looks really strong until you get to your WRS. Really your starting Roy and Royal. I’m not sure thats strong enough. Do you play a flex? If so you would definately play a RB there.

by Kdo09 on Aug 23, 2009 8:15 PM MDT up reply actions

I do

I have ronnie brown at flex

check out my money league team

QB: Tony Romo, Donovan McNabb, Carson Palmer

RB: Steven Jackson, Pierre Thomas, Ryan Grant, Chris Wells, Darren McFadden (this one killed me but it was a RD 14 pick and I will be benching him whenever the Broncos play the faders. I never play a division rival in fantasy if they are playing the broncos that week. Fantasy rule for me)

WR: Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Derrick Mason, Donnie Avery

TE: John Carlson

D: Tennesee

K: who cares :)

by BroncoMath101 on Aug 23, 2009 11:04 PM MDT reply actions

Solid

I’m not a fan of Carlson but when your hoping 6 points out of a TE its not a big deal.

by Kdo09 on Aug 24, 2009 6:52 AM MDT up reply actions

Wow thanks guys for all your input

It was more then what i expected. I also realized that my league has the format of doing a 3RB-1WR league which is probbly the better routh then 2WR-2RB or 3 WR-1RB. Right? so I should probably pick more rb’s….. Well im gonna do my research and update you guys on my new rosters. Thanks again!!!!!

Matt Shaub is going to blow up big this year.

He should be available in the 4th or 5th round. Try to get Hillis too.

ok well idk about hillis

I LOVE him and all but is he really a #1 back

by Calibroncoboy on Aug 24, 2009 1:43 AM MDT reply actions

No hes not but......

I wouldnt be surprised if hes goos for 60 total yards and a TD attempt a week. Not an every week play but in deep leagues hes definately an interesting prospect. I have him.

by Kdo09 on Aug 24, 2009 6:54 AM MDT up reply actions

I have a trade question..

Should I do this?
Send DeAngelo Williams, Car RB from RB to Stute
Send Brandon Marshall, Den WR from WR to Stute
Receive Matt Forte, Chi RB from Stute to Bench
Receive Vincent Jackson, SD WR from Stute to Bench
Receive Braylon Edwards, Cle WR from Stute to Bench

or this?

Send Aaron Rodgers, GB QB from QB to Ebert
Receive Drew Brees, NO QB from Ebert to Bench
