Season Predictions (The Sequel)

Earlier this year(Julyish?) I created a season win/loss prediction for every team in the league, with playoffs and super bowl predictions as well.  There is nothing scientific about this(unlike much of the other brilliant material on this site) as it is simply gut reaction and analysis based on preseason play and information I have gleaned from the mhr material, but it's fun to make and hopefully creates some interesting palaver.  I'll start with a detailed Broncos prediction(why else are we here?) and then move on to the other suckers teams in the league.  I'm making my predictions with the assumption that B Marsh will play for the Broncos, but sharing time with Royal and Gaffney in the  1 and 2 spots.

I used Bye weeks, previous games, future games, everything I could to make my assumptions.  Not just flipping a coin lol.  But as I'm sure we all know, this has as much a chance of being correct as any other's guess.  Except Jamie Dukes, I'm not sure he even knows all 32 teams.

Home games are in Bold.  Playoff Bound Teams are in Italics.

DENVER BRONCOS

Week 1: Cincinatti - Win.  With Carson Palmer nursing an ankle injury and that team showing no significant signs of improvement, I think this should be a (albeit hard fought and possibly mistake prone) win.  McDaniels has to much pride to lose coming out of the gate.

Week 2: Cleveland - Win.  Home Opener and the Mile High Fever is back!  Even over the fareweather boo-birds' mating call when Orton throws an interception in the first quarter, the cheers will overpower Brady Quinn's confidence.

Week 3: Oakland - Loss.  Don't hate me.  It's in Oakland and they are an improved team.  Their running attack will prove too much for our rising-to-the-top-but-still-in-the-middle rush defense, and I see Fargas and McFadden having a day.  It won't be a rout, but still a tough loss.

Week 4: Dallas - Win.  Da Boys just won't know what to do when their punts don't come careening down mid-field after slamming into the gratuitous television set they have in the Big D.  I live in Dallas, so my knowledge of the Cowboys is almost as vast as my Broncos, and besides their special teams, they did nothing to improve this team.  They got rid of their best/worst weapon in Brandon Mar...T.O..  I think we win this by 6.

Week 5: New England - Loss.  Here comes the gauntlet.  Brady's back.  Moss is still there.  A whole bunch of other people no one has ever heard of with lots of big gaudy rings on their fingers are still there.  McDaniels wants to win this one bad, but Belichick wants to win every single one while strangling puppies, and I just don't see it happening.

Week 6: San Diego - Win.  It's still the first half of the season.  San Diego never plays this time of year.  Ed Hochuli is at the coin toss, but not as a ref, but our team captain for that game.

Week 7: BYE  So we're 4-2 at this point.  I'm happy.  As long as our next few games are against the lions and rams...oh wait....

Week 8: Baltimore - Loss.  This one comes down to a field goal.  Our offense wins the ToP battle with small tosses all over the field, but turnovers are the Ravens' bread and butter.  One fumble returned for a TD in the third quarter could lose us this one.

Week 9: Pittsburgh - Loss.  It's Pittsburgh.  They're monsters.  We're rebuilding; they're the Trump Towers.  I'd like to say it's close, but I think it's a 14 point loss.

Week 10: Washington - Win. Okay, back in the win column!  4-4 up til now, and the Mile High Nation is getting nervous.  Jason Campbell will play with a chip on his shoulder, as McD did choose Orton over him, but the Skins are too inconsistent.  Portis will say hello to all his friends that were on the Broncos when he was here....well, all two of them that are still left.  Mike Anderson shows up in the fourth quarter to punch in our goal line TD to win the game.

Week 11: San Diego - Loss.  It's the second half of the season.  San Diego is playing now.  They're not going to win the Super Bowl, but they're winning this one.  Philip Rivers calls Cutler from the sideline to taunt him, regardless of what team he's on.  And for the first time, I don't care.

Week 12: Giants - Win.  They're coming off a big win against Atlanta at home, and are too busy looking ahead to 3 straight divisional rival games(Dallas then Philly then Washington) to be concerned with the Donkeys.  McDaniels makes them pay.

Week 13: Kansas CIty - Win.  It's December, I know, we're not supposed to win there.  But that was Shanahan's curse, not ours.  And McDaniels was a Defensive minded coach at one point, and if there is one person he knows how to plan for, it's the Anakin to his Obi-Wan, Matt Cassel

Week 14: Indianapolis - Win.  This one could go either way.  New coach over there, Harrison is gone, Peyton has retired.  What?  He's still playing?!  I thought he retired to make commercials.  Well, still, a win is possible, but hard fought.  It all comes down to Hillis and Moreno.  If they can give us 40 minutes of possession time, it's ours.

Week 15: Oakland - Win.  We split this series.  This Is The Raiders, At Our House.  We Will Win.

Week 16: Philadelphia - Loss.  By this time of the year, Vick and McNabb have a good thing going and are leading the NFC East.  It's too much for our still-rising-to-the-top-but-not-there-yet defense to handle.  Their early lead is too much for us to catch.

Week 17: Kansas City - Win.  We sweep this series.  Only 3 games between our previous meeting.  They're playing for pride, we're hoping for a playoff spot.  Cassell is even worse this game, with McDaniels in his head.

Denver Final Record:  10-6.  This might be a little spiked with Kool-Aid, but not impossible at all.  The 2-14 doubters are insane IMHO.  We CAN achieve this record, so believe.  Believe!!!
