Quick Raider Assessment
I thought I would share my observations of the Raiders through two quarters against the Saints
The defense played absolutely horrible. They gave up 3 long touchdown drives to the Saints on the first three drives. They gave up what should have been 2 TD's to the second stringers, but settled for 1 TD and a field goal due to two unnecassary penalties negating back to back TD's resulting in the field goal. They were out schemed, pushed around and just looked horrible and I hope this becomes a trend throughout the season.
The offense has potential, but is weak if pressure is applied. JaMarcus Russell is an athletic QB, but doesn't read defenses very well and doesn't make adjustments at the line. He will make a lot of good throws though and you definitely want to put pressure on him. The O-line is less than stellar allowing several sacks, so applying pressure shouldn't be to difficult. Young athletic receivers, but will drop many balls this season. Darren McFadden is scary good. Lots of running back depth as we know. Good TE's.
Special teams were pretty good, great coverage on their many punts.
As usuall a very undisciplined team. Many penalties, 7 for 74 yards in one half, yikes.
Summary,
McDaniels is a genius when it comes to finding and exploiting a teams weaknesses. The Raiders have many so we should dominate them. The only chance they have to beat us is if we beat ourselves. I think those days are in the rearview mirror, so I predict 2 wins with little to no doubt.

Their biggest strength is running
and we’ve been 10 times better against the run game than we have against the pass game so far. I hope we can shut them down and make a weak passing game their only asset.

Our new found physicality (if that's a word)
will force them into many 3 and outs and turnovers IMO. They did not respond well to the Saints playing physical and the Saints aren’t that physical…

At least we know the Broncos will win at least two games this year. ;-)

watched part of the game
and thought the tweet from “movethesticks” summed it up nicely:
“Maybe the Raiders just wanted to evaluate their kickoff return units this afternoon.”
They showed some serious flaws in all phases of the game. Definitely looking for 2 wins, there.

The Second Half Was Not Any Better
The Raiders looked just terrible on almost every level. In their defense, just like the Broncos could not get any rhythm in the second half in Seattle, the Raiders never did in this game at all. Hard to say how much to take from the game, but it is really difficult to image how the Raiders could stop the Saints in a regular season game.

Since I blast them in virtually every one of my posts, I ’ll just say:
The raiders are who we thought they were!!!
If you want about a half hour of comedy, go over to their boards right now. In-freakin’- sane

Wow
They really are going nuts over there, but I would be too if the Broncos ever looked that bad for an entire game.

Raiders and momentum
The Raiders deflated after a couple of big plays were followed up by a Russell fumble.
The key to beating the Raiders is getting on top of them early and then forcing them to quit. Letting them gain confidence by hanging around is dangerous.
That being said, if we can run block well, we should dominate the time of possession and beat them handily, particularly if our run defense can handle their offensive line.

But but but but
Jamie Dukes says that JaMarcus the Hutt is a great quarterback who can do anything and he is going to lead the team all the way!

and how many Super Bowl rings does he have?
The only ring he may have is a wedding ring (if he is married) and maybe a college ring from Florida State. Maybe that gives him some clout in some circles.

i agree
however, if you think that, then you can bet Denver players will be thinking that even more the week they watch film of the Raiders…..The key will be McD keeping the team mentally focused and to ignore the lack of quality competition…..as you said, we can’t beat ourselves…..this is what a good coach must do…win the games his team is supposed to win….Oak should be 2x wins

McD
is the type of coach that takes it one game at a time and won’t allow his players to overlook any team. I’m sure that’s something that his father instilled in him.
