As my siggy suggests, I am NUTS for the Broncos. I have lurked on this website since just before the 2006 Draft, and this is my first post. I'm not really the posting type; I have too much on my plate, but I just needed to get something off my chest.

First, a little background after the jump.

I have been a Broncos fan for 22 years. I have lived in New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma for those years, and I started watching Broncos games as a wee lad in New Mexico because my mother grew up in Idaho Springs, and loved watching the games on TV. I grew to love Elway, and whoever else was playing with him. I watched us win our first Super Bowl with a group of Packers fans, and LOVED rubbing the win in their faces.

I was devastated when we lost TD, and elated when we acquired Plummer. I didn't feel like our team was really talented enough to be in the 05 AFC Championship; I think we were luckier than good, and played above our talent level. I completely agreed with the decision to draft and start Cutler in 06, and was completely in agreement the day we traded him. I LOVE our draft choices this year, and think Moreno and Smith in particular are going to be special.

All of which brings me to the reason I decided to post for the first time in 2 years of lurking.

I work 60 hours every week. I (probably like most of you) don't work because I like it, I work to provide for my wife and 2 kids. I go home after working for 12 hours and spend what precious little time I can spare with them, go to sleep, and come to work the next day. I try to find time for hobbies, but time is in short supply, so I don't get a lot of time to play my guitar, go camping, etc. I come to MHR because, other than being the premier source of Broncos news on the web, it's a place where I can go to read posts written by people who love the Broncos as much as I do. I love the fact that everybody here (with a few notable exceptions) is EXCITED at the prospect of a new season. We're ready for some FOOTBALL, and we're excited that we just might be BETTER than we were a year ago!!

So this post is addressed primarily to those 'notable exceptions' I just referred to. If you are a pessimist by nature, if you think Coach McDaniels should be fired, if you think we should pander to malcontents, if you think we should overpay for free agents playing for their next contract (and no further), if you think Pat Bowlen is a gutless drunk, and if you don't believe we'll beat the Raiders twice this year, then please...

We have paid more attention to revamping this defense than we have in 10 years.

We have the best offensive line we've EVER had.

We have a quarterback that knows how to win.

We have two starting caliber running backs who DON'T go down without a fight.

We have four starting caliber Wide Receivers.

We have a secondary containing TWO Hall of Fame DBs.

We have a linebacking core that is SIGNIFICANTLY improved from last year.

We have a defensive line that is markedly improved from last year.

We have a coaching staff that has a plan, is accustomed to winning, and won't accept excuses.

And we have THE BEST fan base in the league, no matter WHAT ESPN says!!

So basically, if you want to be negative just because your life is miserable, PLEASE do us all a favor and disappear. I have precious few hours in the day to spend reading up on my beloved Broncos, and I don't need to waste those precious minutes reading another uninformed idiot spout about how since we didn't draft Raji we're only going to win 3 games. PLEASE spare those of us that have (a) a life, and (b) a job from your incessant whining; we've heard it already, and it didn't make sense the first 20 times it was said. You're a parrot, a parasite, a piss-ant, and probably a Raiders fan.

I'm ON THE 13-3 BANDWAGON, BABY!! And I'm not jumping off until that 4th loss! (which should be in 2010, right?)
