Broncos close to signing Ayers
Mike Klis is reporting that Denver is in the "final stages" of negotiations on a five-year contract which could put Robert Ayers on the practice field by this afternoon. He also says the Broncos are hoping to get Knowshon Moreno to Denver by sometime tomorrow. Hat tip to Skotty

Thanks NYC
A question I have is if both Ayers and Moreno are in camp tomorrow (assuming both get signed today), how far back will missing 4 days of training camp put them?
I'm wondering that, as well.
Can’t be the end of the world, but it can’t be good for a rook, either.
About freakin’ time they get their butts in Dove Valley. If their fellow rookie class in front of them and behind them have been signing for the past few days, what was the hold up? The greedy parasites, err, agents…..or Moreno and Ayers? Sounds to me like it was the agents (they both share the same pair, don’t they)?

I'm not sure
Who Ayres rep is, but Knowshon’s agent is Tom Condon.

Great news.
Still, I won’t be content until they’re actually on the field practicing.

Well, that's good, hope it works out soon
The last thing we need is this holdout business what with the dramatic offseason already. Argh… can they just all play some football and shut up?
I love Greg Reynolds. Deal with it, suckers.
Done... signed, sealed, delivered... Now Camp!

As Denver Post blog readers expected, the Broncos did reach an agreement on a five-year deal with first-round pick Robert Ayers this afternoon, a source confirmed. Ayers was the No. 18 overall pick in the draft.
Ayers is expected to sign his deal and be on the field in time for the 5:30 p.m. practice today. The signing will end Ayers’ 3 1/2-day holdout in which he missed the first six training camp workouts. A defensive end at the University of Tennessee, Ayers is expected to play outside linebacker for the Broncos.
The Broncos can now concentrate on negotiating with their other first-round pick, running back Knowshon Moreno, who was the No. 12 overall pick. Moreno will not be signed today, but there is hope he can reach an agreement in the next day or two.
