The Jerseys for 2009

Jim Saccomano just posted a blog on DenverBroncos.com about the jerseys for 2009.
The best news in the blog is that the orange alternate jersey's will be worn twice as well, next to the AFL Legacy jersey.

Here is the blog for those of you who havent seen it.

Colorful Year at INVESCO Field at Mile HighAugust 4th, 2009 - 11:29am by jim_saccomano

Denver Broncos fans will see the most colorful uniform variety in team history for the home games at INVESCO Field at Mile High this year.

Of course, the team’s primary home uniform remains the dark blue jersey and white pants.

By now fans are well aware of the fact that the Broncos are celebrating their 50th season of play and the American Football League this year. As a result, Denver will don the notorious 1960 uniform, featuring seal brown pants and helmet, gold jersey (kind of a mustard yellow), and the infamous gold and brown vertically striped socks.  The Broncos will wear than uniform when they take on the New England (née Boston) Patriots on October 11, and the Patriots will wear their AFL throwback uniforms on that day as well.

Not to be outdone, the game officials that day will be wearing what the AFL officials wore at that time, which means there will still be an orange uniform on the playing field. The officials’ shirts for all AFL throwback games are white and orange striped.

Meanwhile, the Broncos will once again wear their very popular alternate orange jersey (the one that is part of the current uniform as a third jersey) twice, donning that fabric against Dallas on October 4 and again vs. Pittsburgh on Monday night, November 9.

This is the greatest variety ever worn by the Broncos at home. A quick analysis of the dates shows that the Broncos will not wear the blue jerseys at home for two regular season games in a row until the November 22 game vs. the San Diego Chargers and the Thanksgiving Day game against the New York Giants four days later.

New team, new coach, new philosophies, old uniforms — and the same winning tradition.

Fans can look forward to all of that at INVESCO Field at Mile High in 2009.

This is great news to me. Personally I am a big fan of the orange alternate jerseys, and I wish those would become our standard home jerseys.

To make it easier, here is an overview of the schedule and the jersey's for that game:

If you catch any mistakes, please add a comment so I can change it.

2009 is going to be an exciting season. Can't wait to see the Broncos as the Orange Crush again vs Dallas and Pittsburg.

13-3 Baby! Go Broncos!

Nice, thanks for posting the info!

I am excited for the orange home alternates, and a little queasy inside about the “seal brown” jerseys… what kind of name is that for a color anyways?

Only vs Saints and Chiefs right? If we did not have those AFL games, i think we would have seen them more.

Yea the Chiefs and Saints games were the only games we wore the orange jerseys last year.

All NFL teams have the same rules

the rule is that they can wear alternate jerseys up to 2 times per year.

Peyton Hillis is also referred to in early Greek mythology by his other names such as Zeus or Poseidon.

We need to make orange our primary color...make the blue jerseys the alternate.

USMCWall wrote a letter to Pat Bowlen stating that desire

He posted what he sent in the post "What Uniforms Will the Broncos Wear This Season? "
I am still working my letter up – the more he reads/hears of, stating those feelings, the more of a chance…..

First team to three consecutive SB wins!!!! and then some, right? I think four and we oughtta let someone else have a fair shot : )

Baltimore & Washington

Washington typically wears their white jerseys at home and Baltimore use to wear their purple jerseys at home, but last year they wore white jerseys for most home games. We might be wearing the home uni’s quite a bit this year.

Sweet!

Actually, Sacco got scooped by Klis in his mailbag today at the Post.

I like how he mentions the “very popular” orange jersey, hopefully the Broncs are getting the message.

Bring back the orange!

This is what we wanted...
Hey, look what we got!

Someday...

…I want to see the Broncos win a Super Bowl in orange.

It feels like unfinished business.

Thanks BroncosNL

Good to know, I did notice you didn’t catch that the Broncos will be wearing their white jerseys for two back to back home games vs SD and the Giants. Easy to do since they don’t typically do that.

by bchiper on Aug 4, 2009 1:19 PM MDT reply actions

hmm

Just curious of where you heard about the white jerseys at home? I’ve never like it when teams where white at home.

by Vandylaxn21 on Aug 4, 2009 1:55 PM MDT up reply actions

The press release from Jim Saccomano says that they will be wearing the blue jerseys for the SD and Giants games.

Uniforms

I think the Bengals will wear white jerseys and pants in the home openers and make the Broncos sweat it out in the late summer heat in their dark blue jerseys. The Broncos may even wear white jerseys at home for the first time since 2003 if Josh McDaniels follows the Patriot Way (New England wore its white jerseys in its first two home games in 2008 and in its one September home day game in 2007).

Further, the game at San Diego will feature the Broncos wearing their white jerseys from 1960 and brown pants, not the gold/yellow jersey. Also, I think the Broncos may be wearing blue pants in their Thanksgiving Night game against the New York Giants in Week 12.

I just want the 'Orange' jersey 'Crush' back.

Why are they not in the Hall...I just don't understand.

I noticed

That they won’t have the blue pants. I liked the blue jersey blue pants. I also like the orange jerseys.
