BRONCOS AGREE TO TERMS WITH 2009 NFL DRAFT CHOICE RB KNOWSHON MORENO
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Friday agreed to terms with running back Knowshon Moreno, whom they selected in the first round (12th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft from the University of Georgia. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Moreno (5-foot-11, 210 pounds) claimed first-team All-Southeastern Conference honors in 2007 and 2008 after totaling 2,734 career rushing yards on 498 carries (5.5 avg.) during his two-year career, which ranked first in the conference and sixth in the nation during that span. He finished his collegiate career ranked third in Georgia history in 100-yard games (13), fourth in rushing yards (2,734) and rushing touchdowns (30) and seventh in career yards per rush (5.5).
As a senior in 2008, Moreno started all 13 games for the Bulldogs and was a finalist for the Doak Walker Award (nation’s best running back) after leading the SEC and ranking 11th in the nation with 1,400 rushing yards on 250 carries (5.6 avg.). He posted 16 rushing touchdowns and 33 receptions for 392 yards (11.9 avg.) and two scores, joining Herschel Walker (1980-82) as the only players in Georgia history to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark in consecutive seasons.
Moreno played 13 games (6 starts) for Georgia as a redshirt freshman in 2007 and ranked second in the SEC and 23rd nationally in rushing yards, carrying 248 times for 1,334 yards (5.3 avg.) with 14 touchdowns while posting 20 receptions for 253 yards (12.6 avg.). He led all freshman running backs that year and ranked third in SEC history and second in school annals for rushing yards as a freshman.
Ending his prep career at Middletown South High School in Middletown, N.J., as the state’s all-time leader in total touchdowns (128) and scoring (782 pts.), Moreno was born on July 16, 1987, in Belford, N.J.

To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also DREAM; not only plan, but also BELIEVE.
Special player
He may be behind in practice, but I don’t expect it will take him long to get some quality time.

The pace at practice..
Is about to pick up. The veterans are going to resent him at first until they realize his motor really doesn’t stop. That’s when everyone will step it up.
This is gonna be fun.
No problem
I’ll bet $20k he already knows.
Ouch…too soon?

Yeah, I know
I actually feel a little bad posting it…but in the end, I couldn’t resist.
In defense of Jordan…he is NOT Travis Henry!

Man
I frickin’ tremble at the thought of Hillis and Moreno sharing a backfield or a set.

Amen!
I mean…just…wow.
And here’s the thing: it’s not like you just have two good backs in one set. You have two backs that tend to fall forward, one with more athleticism, one with more power. Both are solid blockers, and both are very good receivers.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: it makes me giddy to think that Denver can go with a traditional two-back set or a five-wide…with the SAME PERSONNEL!
It’s been a crazy offseason, but in the end, I’m just ready for football.

Hi Everyone!
I’m really happy Moreno signed. Also, I want to say HI because this is my first post on MHR but I have read it for a while.
Welcome Welcome!

FAST LEARNER
It says in the article that he was a redshirt freshman in 2007, and a senior in 2008. that’s pretty impressive…summer school must have been brutal!

class standing -- another reason to like Knowshon
Moreno, 22, entered the draft after his sophomore season at Georgia
Moreno is an early entrant, but lets just say he’s advanced despite the typo. There are some people who have finished that quickly, and Brandstater’s academic progress compares with this mistaken 2 year fictional example.
Moreno is both ‘fresh’ and proven, and he did it against the best defensive football conference in the country. He also has avoided injuries, yet another thing to love about him.
Just a mini-prediction — we’re going to enjoy all the talent we brought in quite soon, and it’s going to be harder and harder to keep up the whining.

I heard on the NFLN
that his first day of practice will be on Sunday. I guess that day the crowd will be huge.

Finally
I am very excited about the possibilities that exist with a fresh offense mentatlity. Even as much as I respect Mike, I think that a fresh system may help refocus on the team. Knowshon is such abig part of that if he can come in and contribute to the team like Josh thinks he can. Go Broncos!!!!

Considering two starting D linemen from the Chiefs
are former Tigers.. This isn’t making me happy lol
Time is a great teacher... unfortunately it kills all it's pupils.
I wonder how Knowshon is going to fit into the system?
