PrintGood evening folks. The football season is finally upon us...sort of. Anyway, I figured I can't be the only one sitting in front of computer and watching tonight's Buffalo v Tennessee Hall of Fame Game so I thought I'd start a thread. Tonight begins the Al Michaels and Chris Collinsworth era now that John Madden has retired.
On an semi-related note, I just got back from today's Broncos practice. Obviously it was the first practice that included rookie RB Knowshon Moreno. He didn't get a ton of reps, but he looked good on the few he did get. He made a very nice juke to elude a defender in one on one tackling drills. Also, I'm pleased to report that Kyle Orton was AWESOME!!! ;-) Alright, that might be a bit of a stretch, but he did have a very good practice. He threw some nice deep passes for completions (unfortunately one of which wore the number 24) and had great timing and a crisp delivery on numerous routes.
Anyway, Happy (almost) Football Season everyone!!!

He was picked at 11. With Moreno signing and Crabtree holding out til he turns blue in the face, I wouldn’t think he would have much leverage

Pittman is currently a free agent
according to rotoworld (last updated june 3rd), he reached out to Tampa Bay for a spot again. That didn’t happen. Also, probably not a good sign, his website pittman28.com has been taken down. He may be done

I was left thinking that when the cameras switched to him just AFTER he scored the final td and all the confetti was raining down that it would end up an EA Sports commercial. I remember thinking “holy sh** he’s going to run..” before the play started. It was probably in the top 3 all time plays I’ve ever seen.

I hated Madden... Turned my set down.
For a Super Bowl-winning coach, he sure had a habit of just stating the obvious in a really excited way.

What did it for me was when on a 3rd and 10 play he enlightened the audience with the insight that the offense would like to get at least 10 yards on the upcoming play.

They will be as good
but it won’t feel like it because the rest of the AFC South, especially the Texans, have gotten a lot better.

So this is the first hall of fame game I've watched since Elway was inducted
I had some friends go to that game and they got Elway HOF bobbleheads for being one of the first 500 there or whatever. They brought me back one. One of my most prized possesions along with my box of Eddie McCaffery’s Endzone O’s breakfast cereal.

Was anyone else on here absolutely dumbfounded by the choice to run that fake punt in the preseason? It seems like a play that tricksy is something that you would hide away so that it was a complete surprise in the regular season… Dammit i guess that they just explained that reason…
I’ll be interested to see how the Broncos play defense on Friday. It seems that there is a sort of preseason code that you keep blitzing to minimum (remember how mad Shanahan was when Dallas kept blitzing in preseason?); however, since we’re installing a new defense that I think will be predicated on frequent blitzed I wonder if they’ll go ahead and bring the heat.

Maybe. It’ll also depend on how Cutler performs in Chicago. But if we win 11 we’ll hear about it a lot less, and in a different light, than if we win considerably less than that.

I have more faith in the D-line, and Nolan's creativity + the 3-4.
The pass rush will be more difficult to handle than last year’s malaise. Slowik’s coaching is partly responsible for the D-line’s play.

they’re not going to magically be good this year. they’ve been mediocre for the past three years. if we can maintain the mediocrity but show me something to look forward to, i’ll be happy
You never know. One big problem we had last year was injuries. If we can stay relatively health and the new defensive scheme turns out to be effective then we could be quite a bit better on defense. The schedule does have me worried though.

I am going to be watching the games we should win. If we can win the games we should win I think that would be a solid sign of improvement as we would consistently lose games to far weaker opponents the last few years.

yeah…that’s a weird thing to do in a preseason game. The main point of these games is let the young guys and guys fighting for a roster spot show what they can do. That play kind of defeats the whole point.
