Be Prepared: 2010 Draft Prospects

It has been a good long while since I have done a fan post but I have been following like mad and commented here and there. One of the things I do (not as well as Styg however) is follow the college game and the top prospects/players at that level. I wanted to give those of you who enjoy that stuff like I do a breakdown of the top 5/ 10 guys at each position as it stands and let you kind of follow them through the year and see how they do. This may help you when it comes to draft day next year, know what is bunk and what is brilliant in the analysis of these players by the "experts." I know this comes on the heels of the start of season so you are probably thinking "Jon real football is about to start we dont need college stuff." Thats fine too just skip me over. Without further ado...

Quarterbacks:

The five I am looking at posses the skills to be effective at the second level. When looking at a QB's we dont have to look at W-L records in college as much as mechanics and such. Remember that Matt Cassel didnt do ANYTHING in college and still made a decent QB.

Sam Bradford Oklahoma: Bradford in a prototypical( 6'4" 215lbs.) QB with an Average arm and decent decision making. Shoulder injury could hurt him and his team! Think Matt Ryan

Colt McCoy Texas: McCoy relies on short passing game and big breaks to make his game flourish. I am not saying he cant throw the deep ball but he isn't capable of doing it multiple times a game. The big thing is he KNOWS that and compensates. Think Tom Brady

Tim Tebow Florida: everyones #1 consensus pick. Pundints believe the H-Back role is his but I think Tebow is going to change QB play while just trying to blend in. He doesnt fit the "running QB role" or the "pocket passer" role either. He has the skills to be a top tier NFL QB very quickly if put in the right position. Think Jake Plummer x 10.

Jimmy Clausen Notre Dame: Clausen is a good player. ND's lack of sucess recently has hamstrung pundits but dont be surprised to see him picked above Tebow (I dont think he will but it wouldnt shock me). Clausen has the ability to read a defense and pick it apart (as we saw this last weekend). Think Peyton Manning

Jevan Snead Ole Miss.: Jevan is a bit of a delima =. One game outstanding, the next inconsistent. When on form there are few better than him when off he is the best player on the opposing team! He has the ability to scramble if need be but it is not his forte! Think Jay Cutler

Running Backs and more soon to come!
