NYC great pic.

We live in the shadow of the 9/11 event don’t we, NYC?
You in NY me in NJ.

I remember buying a 55" projection TV on September 7th and setting it up cause the Broncos were playing the Giants on Monday Night Football September 10th. I remember inviting some friends over and having a great time watching the game until Eddie Mac got hurt.
We won 31-20 but life changed forever the next morning.
I hope we never forget.
So many stories, so much to remember.

I would hope you would support who we are. Not, who we are not. Coach Norman Dale "Hoosiers"

Guru is to thank for the banner

Yes, lots to think back upon and unfortunately quite vivid memories. Great article in the Times today about how we’ve all returned to relative normal here, and all the fears that thankfully haven’t been realized since ’01…

Someone should tell Don Banks

That the 8-8 Broncos also avoided a losing season last year.

Thanks for the work NYC

Thanks for the banner NYC

And, of course, for the morning survey!

I put out a flag this morning; one that flew on a 9/11 memorial field years ago. I was dismayed that I had to run out in a cold downpour to do it, but only momentarily. It was a small inconvenience compared to what so many suffered that day, and in the days since.

Never forget.

Vonnie Holliday

Nice interview. He comes across as intelligent, articulate, and congenial.

9-11-01

A sad somber day and anniversary. My college roommate died in the first tower leaving his wife and three kids without an exceptional man. His humor, patience and wonderful view on life live on in our memories. We’re all thinking of you today Chris.

The Enquirer is worse than the Post

So I would not put much stock in the apparent demotion of McDaniel’s dad. My experience with the Enquirer is they’re at about 50% accuracy for anything that happens outside the city limits (and about 75% for things inside). We’re down to a weekend only subscription to get the Sunday ads, and we wonder if that is worth it.

The Enquirer is the poster child for how the old-style cut-a-tree-down newspapers are failing to evolve fast enough to stay alive.

OK it's official

Madden Cover jinx DOES EXIST!

Has there ever been a worse omen for a player’s season than being on the cover of Madden?

Betting Opportunity

We should start a calendar pool for when Seymour reports to the Raiders. I say we offer our good friends the Raiders a 6th round pick for him as a “cut your loses proposal.”

*applause*

Poor Seymour…I wouldn’t want to be in his shoes. One minute you think you have earned your right to be on the team for your career, the next minute your stuff is in a box and they are telling you OAKLAND is your new home.

That's the only thing that scares me about McDaniels

Now I want to win, but I do think there should be some loyalty to players that have sacrificed\given a lot .

Which is why i had a problem with Elam leaving a few years ago and Pryce before him.

by trumanj on Sep 11, 2009 11:22 AM MDT up reply actions   0 recs

100% agree

I’m not going to pretend that it doesn’t scare me that McD was mentored by a guy who just hung Seymour out to dry for a pick. I get “Team First” -but I don’t know how long I could root for heartless. But Josh is not Bill, so I’m hoping he’ll be different.

One difference

Elam and Pryce left as free agents – they had the whole summer to move their families, etc. (Plus, I think Elam is happy in Atlanta – it’s his home town, and he gets to play 9 games a year in a dome, a plus for an old guy).
Seymour got screwed – his kids are in school, etc. Belichick is one cold SOB. Let’s wait and see if McD does the same sort of thing before over-associating him with the cold SOB.

A man does what he has to do, and sometimes it’s not what I believe he should do. There’s no reason to use up energy hating him for it. Shoot him if you have to, but don’t hate him.

True

You’re right its not even a close comparison…Seymour was really screwed.

Elam and Pryce left, I just didn’t want them to, I thought we could do more to keep them. Elam is still accurate and doing great in Atlanta and Pryce has had some decent years in Baltimore. including 13 sacks the year he left us.

Thanks NYC,

A couple things I’ve noticed this week thats being overlooked.

The Bengals are expected to win this home game, yet they can’t even sell out on the first week of the season. It should be easy to keep the crowd out of this one.

Ochocinco seems to be more preoccupied with being an actor than a player, hopefully he can continue this trend and lay an egg this week.

Carson Palmer can’t be in great game form either. Anyone remember how long it took Peyton Manning to get in the groove last year after missing preseason.

i believe...

it was somewhere around week 5. correct me if im wrong.
i think all we really need to do is keep pressure on him. get into his head early and often. and what better way of doing it than Doom welcoming him back to the nfl.

Manning last year

Colts lost to Chicago, beat the Vikes, lost to the Jags, beat the Texans and Ravens, lost to Packers and Titans, then won the next 9, then lost in OT to the Chargers in the playoffs.

Rick Upchurch

Interesting timing with that article about Rick Upchurch. I am playing a softball game tomorrow against Rick Upchurch and 10 other retired NFL players. They will all be signing autographs after the game. I can’t wait to take the field against these NFL Players, but I’m most looking forward to meeting and playing against Upchurch. I’ll take some pics and do a fanpost about my experience.

Dan Reeves in the ring of fame...

…LOL

Just make a list of former Broncos that don’t deserve to be there. It’d be a shorter one. Guess they need to work on building an extension to the stadium to make the ring big enough to accommodate all these ‘deserving’ folks.

I was coming back to work from a quick fast food break.

I turned on the radio and heard a second plane had just crashed into the WTC. I already had a TV in the classroom, and when the pentagon got hit the kids in the class were terrified. It was just unreal that we were under attack.

I was supposed to go to the Broncos game that following weekend, but the NFL moved all of the games to the end of the season, so I went then. (Denver lost).

I hope we get OBL’s head on a platter, and a Lombardi trophy too. But I want the head on the platter even more.

that would be a very nice platter

i was heading into a place called bunhuggers (sports bar/grill) and seen something on the tv hanging on the wall. i had no idea what was going on and thought it was a movie on tv. i kept asking my buddy what movie it was and he said he had never seen it before. thats when a waitress told us what was going on. instant rage. im a very patriotic person and oh my god, the rage. all those people jumping still sends chills.
and its my sisters and my best friends birthday today. they hate it. memories i will never forget. live and learn.

From Silver's article
Here’s my theory on why Richard Seymour(notes) balked at reporting to the Raiders after being traded by the Patriots for a first-round draft pick last Sunday morning: Inside information. For two-plus years, Seymour had been exposed to Randy Moss(notes), whose career was revived after being shipped from Oakland to New England. I’m not exonerating Moss for having been a dog during his time with the Raiders; I’m simply saying that he likely had a very negative impression of his previous employer relative to his current one, and I’m guessing he wasn’t shy about sharing. Then, a month ago, the Patriots acquired defensive end Derrick Burgess(notes) from the Raiders, reportedly for third- and fifth-round picks. Now Seymour had someone in his position meetings who, I surmise, couldn’t contain his elation about having escaped a dysfunctional franchise for a first-class organization. Think Seymour heard a few horror stories about life with the silver-and-black? I do.

Good point. Seymour is living in a horror movie right now…
